Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Special mention needs to go to young Fritsch for Spargs first goal as well. His spoil on the bigger, more experienced Hurley was a beauty. Charlie was waiting exactly where all good small forwards should be, front and centre.

Both these two young boys have shown more in a few games than most.

The future.

Agreed.

I'd love to see a forward line of Hoges, TMac, Weids, Fritsch, Spargo and Jeffy. Hannan and Melksham interchange, with those 2 and Trac rotating midfield/wing and forward. Oppostion coaches would have to seriously think about their selections to combat that, rather than the other way round. Apart from Garlett, they all have good years ahead of them still, hopefully he can find some form quickly.

Happy to not have Jeffy at this stage. Spargo has shown in one game that he is  polar opposite to Jeffy in terms of hardness and willingness to chase/ tackle. Jeffy does it one game then 3 games he goes missing , been an issue his whole career . You know what you will get with Spargo even though he has played 1 game.

I think there’s room for Jeffy, he’s one of our best when he’s on. ANB and Harmes would make May for him if his form picks up. Too damaging a player to have in VFL. 14 handballs to Spargo!

I'm not sure about Jeffy. When he is "on" he is an asset. But these days you can't afford to have passengers. The Tigers don't have any. Our objective must be to have a team of players each week that are in form and consistent.  The competition is so tight you can't afford to lose games. At the end of the season points and percentage are critical.  Although we have had a few passengers this year, Jeffy goes missing too often for too long. It is continuation of the way he played at Carlton.  You have to know that every player is going to turn up and have a crack. With Jeffy all you can do is hope he is going to turn up but if the likes of Spargo continue to perform, Jeffy's days in the ones are coming to an end.

The three-years-away dream - Son of a gun,  Kobe Farmer in tandem with Charlie.

I've lost it but it's possible.

I think the emergence of young spargs is the firecracker up the bum Jeffy needs to spark him into form.

Jeffy really needs consistency not just form.

Not a bad idea, keeps him in the game and makes him accountable, I like it.

And make him run hard, both ways. change him off the bench.

He would be useful helping carry the ball from defence.

Gee thought he was a bit stiff not to get this weeks rising star nomination. Waterman from West Coast got the nod. But compare there games and you would Charlie was better.

Charlie Spargo 4 14 18 4 0 2 1 3 2 0

He had 18 disposals 4 marks and kicked 3 goals.

Jake Waterman 8 6 14 5 0 0 1 4 2 1

Waterman took 1 more mark only kicked 2 and had 14 disposals.

They virtually always look after the player with the larger body of work.

As i said in the postmatch, BBO called this guy Sparko because he provided the spark on match day. I was thinking something similar at the time. It might stick.

Disagree with this. Garlett has been in the game for 10 years and over that period has been one of the most consistent small forwards around. Including his time at Carlton. His 2014 was a complete bomb but I was informed by someone at the the Blues that this was mainly due to off-field family issues. Then Malthouse had his fire sale.

No doubt his form was off for 2 weeks. Perhaps form, desire, our crap forward setup & entries - who knows. Conditions perhaps ? When he was young I recall him being good in the wet (I always feared him when we played Carlton) but recently he's been the worst wet tracker since Let's Elope

I hope he finds touch real quick. With the forward line we could have, I would love to see Charlie and Jeffy creating havoc amongst it

Lies, damned lies & statistics. Nonetheless, here are some Garlett stats. Make of 'em what you will

Definitely a case of the value of family bloodlines.

So many young footballers seem to have a Dad, Uncle or relative that played AFL/VFL. Or a mum that played netball etc.

Like others I love the spirit of this young guy. Just oozes enthusiasm and attitude.

And that first goal seemed to me to come down to sheer footy instinct.  In the right place at the right time, knew where the goals were, and polished off with clean disposal.

At least the inane TV commentators won’t be able to say whenever he gets the ball “he comes from a basketball background” ?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
