Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How anyone can be apathetic about what jumper and colours your team wears is beyond me.

Players come and go, but the glue that knits generations of fans together is the jumper and colours.

One can try and place themselves above such menial matters in an attempt to seem more enlightened, but you've just taken a position that is at odds with footy, reason, and passion.

Naturally, fans put up with it, as there's little choice, but how anyone couldn't care or could even embrace a clash jumper beggars belief.  I assume such supporters wouldn't give a yelp if the club decided to push for a permanent change to green and aqua.

I find the position disingenuous.

If there is one thing I respect about Eddy McGuire (it's a stretch I know) it's how he has defended the integrity of Collingwoods jumper design.

I also recall one of the most emotive moments in the proposed merger with Hawthorn was Don Scott ripping the Hawk off the MFC jumper.

Come on Melbourne supporters - GET PASSIONATE.  No more of this white jumper rubbish for the MFC.

I don't necessarily have a huge issue with there being a white strip but there's two things I don't like:

Firstly our current white strip is without a doubt one of the laziest designs ever, it's like they woke up one morning, looked through their agenda and realised New Balance needed the print that day to create the merchandise and just decided to slap the logo on a white background. For crying out loud Melbourne, get creative and make it a design competition on the website where it's voted by the fans.

Secondly it's the hypocrisy of allowing other clubs to get away with no white clash strip. I can cop the Pies because they are already black and white, and the Eagles don't really clash with anyone else massively with Gold and Royal Blue. But someone like Essendon, tell me how we are different to them? If they have a reverse colour scheme as their clash strip than so should we. There's also the fact that we wear it when we really shouldn't need to. It should ALWAYS be the Red and Blue unless there is a direct clash. It's bad enough we have the stupid thing, but we shouldn't have to wear it unless it's really needed.

Anyway, every year it comes up and every year the same frustrations are aired. And every year the result is the same.

I have actually passionately defended the inclusion of white guernseys in the past. @daisycutter could testify to that, I am certain. We would have, every year, a tedious argument about the clash jumpers and whether we should have one and which colour they should be.

We invented the game as a way for cricketers to keep fit, and therefore played in whites and were known as the 'Invincible Whites' before the VFL was a thing...

My recent 'apathy' is born out of the fact that we have chosen (or been forced to use) white, and I have no reason to argue against something I am perfectly fine with as a Demon.

Reverse the yolk and that is not my club, go back to that awful light blue we had in the early eighties for the TV and that is not my club, but the non-colour white has some attachment to my club. But I am happy to not engage and enrage my fellow supporters who disagree. And do it. Every. Single. Year.

It's like you're trying to explain away voting for the Greens once.

The white jumper doesn't really bother me.

What bothers me is the outright hypocrisy of it all. The only "clash" is with Essendon...if you're blind and can't differentiate between black and dark navy blue.

I think every team should just have one alternate away strip for away games. Switch the colours around like Essendon and Richmond do.

Why we need two clash jumpers is beyond me.

I'm not blind but I do believe we genuinely clash with Essendon. If I'm staring closely I can tell them apart clearly, but if my eyes are darting about all over the place following the play or I'm relying on peripheral vision to see, for a split second they look the same. I can't be the only one with this problem. It would be worse for people new to the game who don't know what they're looking for.

I don't think we clash with the other nominal clashes (Carlton, St Kilda, Adelaide etc) but given that I can see the clash with Essendon, I will take the AFL at their word that some do see a clash. Unfortunately it's impossible to see through others eyes.

I thought the AFL were taking the piss last year though when they let us wear that jumper that was traditional at the front and red at the back. I wasn't complaining because I love our traditional jumper, but it definitely muddied the waters regarding eliminating clashes - can't see how wearing that jumper clashed any less than the traditional one. Either that jumper should have been deemed unacceptable, or there was no clash to start with. Both can't be simultaneously true.

The redback jumper is perfect when playing the Blues and Saints. Front on you can easily distinguish players but from the back the two dark back jumpers are difficult to differentiate.

I posted this in another thread, but I can tell you, I was given info from a person connected to the MFC that suggested that the White clash while be done away with and that the new clash jumper will be "as traditional as it could be'. Make of that what you will. I pushed the guy for more details or for a release date, but he was tight lipped...which is fair enough. Based on what he told me, I am excited to see the design.

Nice call Cells

Have a look at the guernsey the girls are wearing against the pies. Lovely royal blue, glad I kept my scarf from 1984!

I've just seen that on the tennis coverage. It is very royal and a complete throwback to mid 80s. I am not sure, but maybe that is am preview of the mens clash strip..I wouldn't mind it. Better than white. I don't think that is the womens home jumper is it???

Women’s strip was the same as the men’s red backed clash strip last year, that’s what I’m basing my belief on that it will be same same again this year.

Yeah, I would say the light blue will be used. Against saints the dark front was a problem on tV. The lighter blue will eliminate this

If we ever were fortunate enough find ourselves as needing to wear a clash strip in a grand final id be happy enough to wear that. Way better than some white monstrosity and eliminates a clash v the likes of port, essendon, carlton and the saints.

Laura dureya (spelling) put a post on instagram pre xmas and i swear she had an inverted jumper on too.... ill find it

Thats a hint of red on the front yeah?

Perfect set would be normal, inverted and royal blue imho

I don't mind the idea of clash jumper's. But i don't think we need to wear them that often. The clash jumper i liked was our first one ( Red with Blue M ). Incidentally, weren't we the first team to have a clash jumper?

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
