Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Casey Demons 2018

KC from Casey

The word from out at Casey is that recently retired MFC 141 gamer Colin Garland who will have coaching roles with the club’s AFLW and VFLW teams in 2018 could also turn out during the season with the Casey Demons. Delisted rookie Mitch White is also said to be a likely recruit.

With the axing of the Development League, the Casey Demons’ VFL list will be reduced significantly.

One player off to the Frankston Dolphins for their return season to the VFL is Jake Lovett.

Colin Garland is what footy ought a be about.

Have we had any better a clubman, then Garlo?

Takes the train to the footy.

just a great fella I reckon.  A real community spirited person imo.

What are the circulating words about Jake Lovett? What is he like as a developing footballer and does he bear any similarity with his father? If he has one ounce of his father's talent, he may well be a great talent for us down the track.

He's a one paced, nuggetty onballer. Hasn't shown enough at Development level to suggest he'll be a good VFL player, lit alone an AFL one.

Thanks for this advice. Maybe it is too early to extract expectations from one so young. His father was a little slow at times but read the play and his roles extraordinarily well.

News to date

Jade Rawlings - new coach

Tom Couch - player and assistant coach

Mitch Gent - signed up for another year

Some of the development team (2017 premiers) are trialling at Frankston including Jake Lovett.

Casey confident that 7-8 of key development list will stay at Casey and push for the senior team (Collis, Hillard, Cox, Allsopp, Lefau, Vanderhaar, Gordon)

I would love to know how van der Haar is progressing...his old man was sharp! Wasn't too bad as a mobile utility, either,

Collis and Lefau are gone.  Club also wanted Hulett to sign on but he has gone to local footy.

After the draft, 3 TAC players who missed out and may not get a rookie chance

Tom Murphy - Stingrays

Reece Piper - Stingrays

Aiden Quigley - Power

I’d invite down to Casey for a tryout and consider the MFC Casey pipeline.

Thomas Murphy off to Kangas. Quigley is still the young man that Casey needs to get onboard

So without a development league where do the fellas on our list who aren't up to scratch to play seniors at Casey play?

They play with a local club until they get the call up. Likely train twice a week at Casey. It’s a tough call for the fringe like Mitch Cox and Jordan Moncrieff. Some will just stay in local footy or tryout at Frankston

No where pretty much

Hulett was dropped for the Semi-Final v Richmond this year therefore he didn't play  for anyone that week

But Id think unless you are really screwing up they'd force you to play VFL seniors even if you aren't up to scratch

So D167 does that mean if all 44 of our list are fit and sober than 22 play for the Dees and 22 for Casey and all the Casey boys have to bugger off... they can come and share a cheroot with me at Byron...

Pretty much yeah

To be on a VFL list you have to nominate a local club so they'd go play for them that week/have the week off

It's going to be interesting if we don't have many injuries - particularly to talls.

Let's say Gawn, Hogan, TMac, Lever, OMac and Frost (I don't have him in my best 22 but many do) are playing at MFC

It's going to be interesting to fit Pedersen, Weideman, Petty, King, T.Smith, Keilty and Filipovic along with Hutchins in the Casey team.

I guess a couple of injuries are likely ...

I think Jack Trengove was up there as well as a clubman! Not quite sure why the Club couldn’t have similarly created a role for him at the Casey Demons, particularly when he won their B&F this year? ?

Trengove wanted to play AFL and Port have given him the chance.

Casey should offer a role to Lachlan Hansen. At 29, he is too good to retire and would be good for him to come back home to the shire.  Like Hutchins, he would really lift Casey up.  Casey only have Weideman and Smith as key forwards and hopefully Weideman plays 11-12+ games at in MFC in 2018.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
