Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I couldn’t give a rats about the draw.  We can’t change it so why whinge?  Just get out onto whatever ground it is and play the game and try to win about 15 or so.  The only good thing is the 2 Brisbane games.  I can walk to the Gabba in 10 minutes. Seems like years since we have played in Brisbane.

Better than only being on Foxtel, at least we gete some FTA numbers for the sponsors...

as an example here is one weekend last year where the ratings for Friday night outscored the Sunday afternoon 2-1

http://www.footyindustry.com/?p=3947

ironically the Friday night game is us v Swans while the Sunday game is Pies v Hawks

Any game is winnable ... especially round 1 against the Cats.

The Tigers will fall away too - they'll come right back to the field unless they get an extremely good run with injuries again.  Hangovers happen too.

I just ran across our first dozen games to a mate (a non Demon) and he has our toughest game being Essendon in round 6 followed by the Crows in round 10.  Then the Tigers and then the Cats.

A better way to look at it is nominating an absolutely certain loss in that fixture.

Our fixture is not a tough one ... unless we regress.

Completely agree on all scores, praha. I was only looking at it from the point of view that good sides like Adelaide are likely to be good again, do we have a run against those teams (as we do, running into finals); and despite fewer 6 day breaks; comparatively are we getting less rest than our opponents (we are). Teams we play next year may or may not buck the trend, the draw says to me we must be in a strong ladder position come the bye as we've got more travel and (expected) tougher opposition. Same could have been said this year, though, and we won some games I thought we'd lose.

We're definitely good enough.

I’m not sure how you can support your last sentence. The second half of our 2017 season showed that we’re not good enough. I don’t believe you can tell until well into a season how ‘good’ a team is. Look at the Swans this year or Norf last year. There’s absolutely no guarantee that a team will improve on their previous season or even do the same as last season. There are multiple examples of teams who do well one season just to have a horrible next season. Look at the doggies this year. Remember those seasons where we yo-yoed in alternate years from the top eight to the bottom four? Remember Essendon after their 2000 Grand final win? The so called experts were predicting a decade of dominance by them which didn’t happen.

Sunday arvo games are sweet timing when you live in Perf.

Burn some meat for lunch, suck back a few froffs and still have time to get a few jobs done after the footy’s finished.

Whingers.

I actually like Sunday afternoon games. I don't like night games. For most of the season in Melbourne you freeze your arse off.

This yearbwe had a soft draw and blew it now we have a bit harder draw but not impossible. A better run with injuries and we will play finals.

All the wingering on here is pathetic just toughen up and win.

The 3.20 start on a Sunday in Melbourne is something that we're going to have to get used to ... Channel 7 are calling the shots on that one and the footy leads into their news service.

As for prime-time free-to-air games,  we're going to have to get so good that they can't ignore us.  And we'd then have to maintain that status.  That's got to be the goal if we're to become one of the big clubs.

Still,  we fell so far behind that we've only got ourselves to blame (and that predicament had nothing to do with our members & supporters)

from an attendance viewpoint I like the early starts (1:20 pm or whatever) . There is usually a little bit of winter sunshine warming up the AFL section as you quietly watch the other few thousand in the stadium.

Not sure the AFL agree with you on that they have kicked us in the guts - Its up to the MFC members and supporters now, ball is firmly in our court.

However, only time will tell if the AFL was right or wrong.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
