Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It’s as if people have forgotten that we haven’t made the 8 since 06 and have also been the laughing stock of the competition for the best part of a decade.

We will EARN a favourable draw by performing week in, week out.

Until then, stfu.

You obviously believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy 'steve'...

Give it a break.

How did Carlton earn it?

1 Friday night game which is away.

7 Interstate Travel games and one in Geelong.

Play at Etihad 3 times.

And not one of those interstate games in Sydney... again!!

As much as I love the opportunity to visit my old home town, if I want to attend a game to see the club I have followed for nigh on 60 years playing, it costs me a small fortune (relative to my current income).  So please do not let me hear any Melbourne based supporters complaining about games at Etihad and Geelong - at least you're all getting 14 games (15 if you include Geelong which is a relatively short drive) that you can attend.

Sometimes I feel like we interstate members just exist to bolster the club's coffers.

Not happy!

There are anomalies with other clubs like Carlton and St Kilda, that are unfathomable on the surface of it, but I'm in the camp that says a basket case of a club that has been out of the finals for 11 years doesn't have much to complain about.

We've got a terrific opportunity to get lots of wins on the board early on, which should set up the season.

This is not a fixture this is not a real competition!

It is just an organised performance, a spectacle run for money.

If it was a real competition or contest to determine who is the best team say, winner,

THEN ALL TEAMS WOULD PLAY EACH OTHER ONCE OR TWICE TO DETERMINE THAT FACT.

AnythinG  less is just a joke. No other competition in the world is run like this anD fans shouldn't put up with it.

AFL expected TWSNBN to do better in '17  but they are a mob of  cup half full, quick fixers including the coaches. That's why they looked after the Friday nighters

4 Friday night games for Carlton.

You know why they did that don't you? To keep them interested in buying memberships and coming through the turnstiles. This is insane any reputable sporting competitions around the world would laugh and scoff at how uneven this draw really is.

Carlton they play the worst brand of football known to man and they achieve 4 Friday Night games amazing.???

Awful draw. Just rotten. No games for us Sydneysiders and our run at the end is horrible. Nice start with Geelong and the best three midfielders. Seriously...
The only thing to say is that if we're good enough,  we'll win them. But it'll be no thanks to this sh!tty draw.

you do remember how many Friday night games the Blues got in 2016. It was so many it was embarrassing and they had to reduce it in 2017 as the Blues were so bad it killed the ratings. Business as usual for 2018.

Not sure how many times I have to say it but the comp is run for the power house clubs and we are not in the same league.

I am at the stage that what ever the draw is we just need to put our heads down, play where ever and when ever and just compete and WIN.

It’s time to have an us against them mindset and turn our mental mindset around.

We've had one home game against Essendon in 12 years. I don't think it's to do with clash jumpers.

I vaguely recall a poster mentioning something about a contract between Essendon and either AFL or us that gives them all the home games. I thought it was something to do with Ettihad. Can anyone elaborate? If so, when does this BS end?

Trust me it is all about the clash jumper and Essendon is the main reason why we had to change from the red clash jumper to the white.

Spot on DemonOx if we are good enough we will win enough games to make the finals it is that simple.

I watch and support the club at any stage of a round. Whilst one Friday night game is paltry compared to other undeserved clubs, it’s hardly worth getting your knickers in a twist over.

From a playing perspective, the draw is OK.

No multiple 6 day breaks, but a block of interstate games which again, we sell some of those, so we only have ourselves to blame for that. We play GWS, Sydney, Richmond, Port and WCE once, which is not bad as I think they'll all be strong again next year.

From a commercial point of view, this draw is, again, absolute rubbish. We have ONE home Friday night game and it's in goddamn Adelaide, where we will likely lose to Port. We do get to host the pre-Anzac clash this year where revenue will be high, but how they can justify giving us just 1 Friday night game, is beyond me.
Only 2 Saturday night games, again both away, and a heap of rubbish Sunday 3:20 games. The deadzone!

Having said all that, if we are good enough, we can make finals this year and it is in our hands. Sick of excuses to be honest.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
