Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's certainly becoming easier to change clubs, or be given the arz, but why bring it up in every thread?

It's a statement of intent at a minimum, and I think we ought to be damn pleased about it.

Should we dredge up some of the doomsday posts regarding a player walkout following the pushing of Watts? Nah, lets not.

We will never know how much he is paid I just hope it is not too high.

The reason is he is not durable. 74 games in 7 years is not good value for money.

Is a 208cm ruckman supposed to play every game from year dot?

How about a grace period for a bit of professional development, considering he was returning from an ACL?

A firing Max would be an awesome weapon on Grand Final day.

Gawn recently has been cruising on his own reputation. Hasn't put in hard enough and gets a nice pay packet for years to come. Needs a rocket up his derriere. Recover the hunger and take it on. Jury out here.

The guy was all Australian last year and was badly affected by a hamstring injury this year (not a knee, so more unfortunate than injury prone).  How the hell he could have been considered to be "cruising on his own reputation" is way beyond me.

Yeah... and the fact that he tore him hamstring off the bone three matches after being named All Australian.

over rated IMO

I agree with what you're saying. Gawn was pathetic last season. Pathetic. He got beaten most weeks by guys that are arguably not even starting ruck men. I wouldn't mind getting him out of the media until he finds form.

At the same time, his best is too good not to pay him big bucks for and pray that he pulls his finger out and stays injury free.

Some exaggerating going on here... he did find time to towel-up Paddy Ryder in his All Australian year.

While he was nowhere near his best after the injury, he was nowhere near as bad as you’re suggesting.

I don't disagree with any of that Dr. It is the praying bit that worries me. Pray and the MFC have not produce much for over half a century.

74games in 7 years is not the sign of durable player. He seldom has 1-2 week injuries. They tend to be long term. He has had one injury free year in 7 that was 2016 and he was a good player. It may well be a good idea to start him in round 5. That way there is a reasonable chance he will make round 23.

Totally with you on this.

Max was good in his first game back against West Coast and was just about the only bloke trying to get us back into the game against GWS in Canberra.

Wouldn't label him pathetic, as the good Dr suggests.

The majority of the matches he’s missed in that time though are because he was playing at Casey.  Jamar kept him out of the team for the better part of six years.  When Gawn did get a run during that time, it was playing mainly as a deep forward.

Great news to have big Maxy signed up for a few more years! As long as he can keep working hard and stay fit, he makes a massive difference to our side. While we missed him around stoppages, more importantly we missed his marking power around the ground.

It's good the club is able to get these key players signing extensions early and not worrying about them walking like in previous years. We're on the up!

Well done MFC , I love this big Larrikin with the sharp wit and AA skills. I can't wait until 2018 rolls around, just need to get TMac's signature on a long term deal. Go Max, Go Dee's.........!!!!!!!!

And he was destroyed by Grundy in the last match, who showed him up

Grundy's game showed what a mobile and aggressive ruck man, who can mark around the ground and kick a long goal can do.

If you could insure players against injury, Max would be uninsurable.

He has dodgy knees.

That's why we desperately need another decent ruckman not a pinch hitter.

Gawn had 35 hitouts to Grundy’s 12......... the midfield make ruckman look good or bad. And on that occasion, the midfield were woeful, and made poor Maxy look ineffective.

Also Grundy played a lot forward that game, the defense should take some blame.

Stop carrying on Old Dee. You will give yourself an ulcer.

Max played round 1, AND round 23 this year. Finals are not played mid season.

What's your argument now?

He seldom plays more than a dozen games a season. If you want him on the field in late September he won't make it if he starts playing in March. IMO his body will no last 26 games in the one season

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
