Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From the Falcons, just made a post about him in the "Jack Petruccelle" thread.

Reported on him under instruction from a club so he'll be considered if available I imagine.

Is a very good player and despite the fact that he looks to be predominantly outside, he possess an aggressive and competitive edge which stood out to me.

Would love him.

Thank you STMJ

I have posted in the Petruccelle thread that I prefer Ling at pick 29 if available.

He is quick. Skilled.  Can really tackle and chase.  Fits our requirements for an outside wing, but does possess toughness when needed. Can take the game on.

Though Cats have picks 22 & 24 so Ling may not last.

He’s the perfect fit for us. He’s everything we need in our midfield. Outside pace, good agility, good kicking skills, bit of aggression so goes when it’s his turn and lays a good tackle. Hopefully he falls to us at pick 29 but being a Geelong boy I don’t think he’ll slip past Geelong in the early-mid 20s.

Aggressive, attacks the contest, very dodgy kicking.  Sounds like a perfect fit for our side.

Dodgy kicking indeed

Dodgy kicking? Or dodgy kicking style? Looked unusual but sweet to me, perhaps even pre-iconic: speed chips (tm). A perfect fit with our game-plan. Alongside Oliver. Everyone will be bitching that he doesn't hand-ball enough.

That chip at a flat-out sprint was sweet, but his general field kicking under little to no pressure looks very suspect to me.  A lot of short passes that made the target stretch to pull them in.  One was way over the guy's head.  Over those distances he should be hitting them square in the chest.  Not the sort of thing you should see in a highlight reel.

To me, I think he has quite a special sense as to weighting. But no point arguing about it now. We'll have plenty of time to discuss it if he makes it to the red and blue. ;)

I think that's it RM, he chips the ball with his kicking action.

He doesn't seem to kick through the ball, but under it, almost like he is pitching it.

I hope you’ve considered that they were highlights from a single game.

One.

His technique and decision making are generally sound and you’re pointing out two execution errors from a game which also displays two very difficult-to-execute kicks. One an inside kick into the corridor which is a clear example of both his skill level and vision. The other a beautiful weighted kick inside 50 whilst running at top speed. The two you’re pointing out were clear execution errors and one of those is because he rushed and kicked whilst off balance. A very simple thing to address.

Having seen him play on a few occasions this year, I can tell you that these are rare occurrences. Much like when you see Salem miss an easy intended target.

When you see players hit difficult kicks with precision, it’s not so worrying that they miss an odd short kick, especially if it’s an execution thing due to kicking off one step/rushing.

It would only be a concern if it was vision of him missing both short and long targets, easy and difficult.

Ling is a great ball user, I’ve seen him on several occasions this year.

Seems an overly mechanical kicking style on short kicks but looks good in stride which is what you want from an outside runner and he has some penetration.

For all the junior coaching these guys get you can count the number on one hand who are consistent quality kicks with great technique and I'd draft some of them to play half back flank. With players who play other positions I'd just hope for good decision making and the desire to improve their kicking.

Looks pretty bloody good to me. Not sure what people are talking about RE: kicking. He just about hits every target. Maybe I'm just sticking up for the lefties, but his kicking looks efficient to me.

5 second mark of video (kick smothered), 50s mark (misses basic target altogether), 1.03m (way too much airtime and puts team mate under pressure)

Ling seems like the best fit for us with our first pick at 29. I only hope he lasts until then. Needs to get past Geelong in the early 20s.

He's got speed, decent skills and decent amount of aggression for tackles and contest for a predominantly outside player. He'd be great a fit to develop with our current culture.

I love it how recruiters have full time jobs where they spend pouring over hours and hours of vision, looking at a draftees under 16 form, under 18 form, they interview them, they have psychologists providing feedback, they analyse their values/morals through a series of interviews, they analyse trends in their physical conditioning and find out as much as possible from external sources such as school teachers/sports coaches etc in order to make informed decisions and here we have demonlanders just jumping on youtube or reading a little player profile and thinking 'oh we must go for this guy or we must go for that guy'. Unless you've done recruiting work, I don't wanna hear about it.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
