Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Port the big winners in Trade Week?

We were the big duds of trade week, in fact spectacularly so!

1 Sold the farm for Jake Lever

2 Got  1 square metre of Quick sand for Jack Watts

3 As for Harley Balic, a same mans Ben Kennedy who we just delisted.

A poor a Drafting result as ever! IMV:blink:

If the bummers can get Stringer off the extra curricular activities and devoted to playing footy then get Smith's knee to stand up to 20+ games, I think they are a big show to advance again this year - as much as that would make me gag. The also get more speed with Saad, not they really needed much. Could be the big winners if Stringer doesn't implode.

On the negative (which is a ripper), Stringer has more off field headlines than games, Smith spends the year on the AlterG, with 0 games and Saad wins the kicking it OOF award for 2018. Happy days!

Freo "won" it for me.

Port did ok but Im not convinced about Motlop and Watts working on the same forward line, Rockliff will be very good for them. Unfortunately Essendscum did quite well this week.

With these 2017 newbies, how can Port concentrate on their 3-man forward line and free kick count in front of goal for the likes of Gray and other forwards. Port are hamstrung with their game plans. Port will waste what talent it thinks it has recruited. 'Carna Dees.

That is a spectacularly pessimistic assessment. That is the assessment of someone with a huge chip on their shoulder.

The winners of trade week won't be known for a while but here's an interesting insight from Caroline Wilson on to how Port Adelaide positioned itself to get three experienced AFL players in their mid 20s away from their old clubs for the combined cost of only one second round draft pick -

Caroline Wilson: How Bombers set up Port Adelaide spending spree

Naturally, there are no guarantees - as Wilson says:

"Given that Melbourne sent Watts packing, questioning his commitment, Geelong did not fight to keep Motlop despite his September form, and Rockliff, in spite of his impressive season, has had issues of his own at Brisbane, it is worth questioning the wisdom of the Port spree."

Everyone going on about Ports 3 players they brought in.

They also lost:

  • Trengove - solid backman
  • Impy who I rate, speedy and is still young
  • Ah chee who is young and some potenial
  • Lobbe - decent ruck
  • Austin and Young

They have gone for flashy players over more reliable types - is the net gain of talent much?  id argue no

If Ryder goes down that will struggle big time

Did they get Lever?  No, that was us.

Ports trade period is overrated.

But Essendon's isn't!

I hope that's not what Port is thinking ....

B: Darcy Byrne-Jones, Tom Clurey, Tom Jonas
HB: Hamish Hartlett, Jack Hombsch, Jasper Pittard
C: Steven Motlop, Ollie Wines, Justin Westhoff
HF: Chad Wingard, Jack Watts, Tom Rockliff
F: Robbie Gray, Charlie Dixon, Sam Gray
R: Paddy Ryder, Travis Boak, Brad Ebert
INT: Jared Polec, Karl Amon, Sam Powell-Pepper, Matthew Broadbent

NOTES: The Power's big three recruits – Tom Rockliff, Steven Motlop and Jack Watts – slot straight into the best 22. Rockliff will play forward and in the midfield, Motlop's pace sees him start on the wing while Watts provides another tall target in attack alongside Charlie Dixon. Dan Houston is unlucky to be squeezed out of the backline. The same goes for key defensive prospect Dougal Howard, with the more experienced Jack Hombsch just getting the nod. Howard and Houston could still force their way into the side with strong performances in the JLT Series.

The Hoff and Watts in the same 22.

I look at the hype of the bombers and power and don’t get it.

Motlop only ever plays a few good games when he’s out of contract, watts is ultra inconsistent and Rockliff is to similar to what they already have in the middle with wines and boak.

Essendon added stringer who has massive off field issues and his form hasn’t been good, smith who is probably handy but not much more than that and saad who I think is the best of all three.

The dockers added an elite half back, a good forward pocket and got pick 2 by giving up one homesick player who wasn’t worth that. They clearly won.

We got lever who is the best medium defender in the game at his age by a mile, exactly what our backline needs and could well be a future leader/captain/all Australian and balic who could be a good value pick up. So we did well also.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
