Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Very very very disappointing. He had a key role to play as a goal kicking half forward. Now behind too many for this.

I had faith but now believe he should be traded back west to dickers or weagles.

unfullfilled potential.

If there's one peg i choose to hang my hat on here it's not to allow for injuries  , preseasons etc .I simply adjudge his value in terms of how he took to his limited opportunities .  He seemed to think he could just ease himself back into the flow of things. By all means do that at kiddyland level but at AFL you need to hit the GO button , pedal to the metal. He has some very entertaining skills  but not the mindset to go with it.

He has a few mates in this respect but #16...your time is up mate.

Needs to go on the Pedo diet. Lose 10 kegs and we'll see a completely more explosive Dean Kent.

Ball is in his court. I hope he knuckles down because I'm one of few here that actually rate him highly when his confidence is up.

agreed but not 10 kgs half of that and he regain that explosive pace back, he's too heavy to play that small forward role 179cms 78-9 kgs and he'll be back.

Countless work on his kicking over the pre season.

Has fallen behind Petracca, ANB, Harmes, Hannan and even AVB for a role on half-forward.

Has shown some promise in the past, but nothing more tangible than that.

I really think that this bloke, if fully fit, is in our best 22. Look at the match v Geelong. Had missed preseason, was rushed back and actually dominated except he kicked badly for goal. I think he had 8 shots. Took a couple of great marks. Has great pace and can tackle. I suspect he thought he had it made at the end of 2016, this season will have been a real shock. I like Hannan, but at his best this bloke is better

I agree with you about him being in our best 22. And I think you made good points about his season. I think there is room for him and Hannan in the starting team.

I hope he gets going for 2018!

Unbelievable that he is still on the list.  I had thought he was going to be ok with pace and a long penetrating kick. Years of potential but ultimately injured, out of form and ill-discipline.

Had to be gone before Watts. Hard to comprehend.

Needs an amazing renaissance in 2018

How is it hard to comprehend?

Watts' contract is/was far more than Kent's, so moving on Watts was a logical choice there, especially with brining in Lever, as well as the current contract negotiations with Gawn and Petracca, as well as the upcoming TMc extension.  We have more cap space to work with now.

Further to that, we got pick 31 for Watts.  Would've been lucky to get 88 for Kent, which would've been a totally useless deal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for 2018 Kent to play a similar role to that of 2017 Ben Ken, but to say getting rid of him before Watts was hard to comprehend, is in fact hard to comprehend itself.

Discipline poor.  Club suspenion. Injured constantly.  Never showed enough in 5 years.

Not even half the player Watts is so why retain him. Completely think Kent should have been delisted or let to go to Freo as swap for Balic.

Yes by the way, it’s an opinion.

I'd rather be paying a bloke $250-$300k to run around at Casey until his contract is up, compared to a bloke on $500k.

We're also talking about a former number 1 pick that has played over 150 games, who is considered a senior player, and one that the young guys should expect to look up to as far as standards, etc.  Compared to a guy that was picked up at 48 and played just over 50 games.

And not only that, you are comparing a tall forward with a small forward.

I acknowledge that it's your opinon, which you are absolutely entitled to.  I'm just trying to make you realise how ridiculous it is, for your own benefit.

To me he seems to be another reasonably talented guy who likes being an AFL footballer but doesn’t want to put in the physical and mental effort, and the social sacrifices what is needed to be even an average 20-30th on a list, let alone a “star”.

Maybe he could be a star but I doubt we ever will really know due to lack of total focused application.

(Hope I am completely wrong and will apologise  personally if he wins the 2018 Downlow)

Something needs to change or he is just going to be 2018’s Ben Kennedy.

He either needs to drop a 5kg and get his skin folds right down so he can play as a small forward or he needs to really commit to building his tank and try to move into the midfield.

At the moment it looks like he might peter out like Luke Tapscott- lacking the agility to play forward whilst lacking the tank to play on the ball.

Spot on. He has the talent but has either been inconsistent or injured. He will need to fix both early in 2018 or he will be the Kennedy of 2018

He has the attributes of Hassa Mann, and he quite visibly was emotional just when he was finding form and did his shoulder again, I think we give him another run at it - if he has a massive pre-season, he'll be his only limit!

Great. We will see who is ridiculous and how Kent goes.  You have backed him so don’t do a u-turn.

Would love to see him in our best team - has pace and a great long kick, and we know that, at times, he can apply the requisite defensive pressure

He and vandenBerg could be the comeback stories of 2018

Reckon a fit Vanders has it all over a fit Kent.

Kent has shown his potential. Has the talent, now needs to show the application. Easy equation.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
