Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

SHOULDER TROUBLES

After finally getting his body right last year when he became an important cog in the forward line, Dean Kent's form lapsed and he was in and out of the side through much of a disappointing season.

Kent was one of four Demons ruled ineligible for selection for Melbourne's game against Sydney, having breached team alcohol protocols after playing for Casey in the VFL but he was recalled for the game against Adelaide in Darwin where his season came to an abrupt end after he dislocated his left shoulder.

It simply astonishes me that the penny has not dropped with this bloke. Five years into his career, presumably now on decent money, and he still hasn't learned that it is not good enough to turn up and give 100% once every four or five games, and just cruise through the rest of the time.

He only needs to look at the two blokes he was drafted with (Viney & Toumpas) to see what is possible if you devote everything you have to your football career (Viney already captain of the club), or the consequences of just bumbling along (Toumpas traded and about to be delisted).

I can see the natural ability, but I'm not a fan because he doesn't work hard enough and he makes too many simple errors. He is a clear trade candidate for a third or fourth round draft pick if anybody is interested.

Never seen anything to make me believe he's got enough to make it. His speed is overrated by many and the talk of his evolution into a contested ball mid is fanciful.

Doubt he's got much trade value so depth it is.

looks like a player...has never lived up to his undoubted potential

he has the skill and the speed to be a weapon; does he have the want and desire?

the most disappointing thing is that you really expected him to be best 22 all year - but he actually ended up playing more games for casey than for melbourne

he needs to adjust his attitude and his weight, not to mention his effort and skill, in order to be any shot to make it as a high-level afl player

i can't imagine he'd have much value for any wa-based team; they're not going to want an occasional cameo player either

if he got it together he could be a very handy defensive forward and occasional burst midfielder. our coaches are good but I thought they could have evolved him into a more rounded player. He just seems all or nothing to me, doesn't do all the team things that you can see in a Brayshaw. Some of those things don't require talent.

he also looks the unfittest on our list.

I doubt we shall see Dean again

i hope his shoulder heals up well, my dad has had a dodgy shoulder for about 40 years

still gives him trouble now

I happened to be surfing instagram a month or two ago when Harmes was recording a 'live' feed of him and several of the others including Dunn, Fitzy, Gawn and Kent to name a few playing pool and making lewd crotch jokes - much of them ordinary as far as crotch jokes go

I was particularly surprised by Kents ability to handle a pool cue as they went about their game. Given that he was shortly thereafter required to have surgery.

Was pool part of his rehab?

I was extremely disappointed with his season, but I would much rather keep him than trade for a 3rd or 4th rounder.

My biggest issue with him that I hadn't really noticed previously is that his hands are not clean enough.

He has always been hit and miss with his kicking and his pressure, which I used to rate, was poor this season.

I do wonder how much his injuries have held him back and don't subscribe to the theory that he is lazy. I am more inclined to think he is being held back by his body. Every time I have been to a preseason training session, he has been on a restricted program.

Don't know where he fits.  Can't run through the midfield doesn't really apply any forward pressure, looks good out the back but really who doesn't running into an open goal.  We still don't have another quick small forward option to support Garlett which we really need.

His stats in our losses are the clue. Doesn't work hard enough.  overates his own ability trying to pinpoint passes in the corridor. Cannot kick goals. Lost count of the east clutch goals he misses.

Bye Dean.

Has fallen behind Petracca, ANB, Harmes, Hannan and even AVB for a role on half-forward.

Has shown some promise in the past, but nothing more tangible than that.

That is a depressing list of non goalkicking forwards and Hannan & Petracca. And then there's the added caveat that a player like Melksham can out perform all of them in the last two months - He'd have to be ahead of all of them too.

Cul that list down to Petracca, Hannan and Melksham and bring in one small forward and keep Watts or bring in a 3rd tall that can mark/kick a goal. Throw the rest in the VFL and have them competing for one list spot - nearer to the wing or relieving centreman

Needs to go on the Pedo diet. Lose 10 kegs and we'll see a completely more explosive Dean Kent.

Ball is in his court. I hope he knuckles down because I'm one of few here that actually rate him highly when his confidence is up.

I really want to like Kent's game because he has some mongrel. The issue for me is that he is one of the most laconic footballers in the comp.

His lack of interest in two way running in some games is Simply not going to get it done for goody. Kent  paid the price at the selection table for this.

I can't see him moving ahead of anb or harmes these days.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
