Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CLASH JUMPERS IN GRAND FINAL

There is some conjecture about one team or the other having to wear clash jumpers if Adelaide and Richmond make the GF. Surely neither team should have wear their away jumpers?  The Adelaide and Richmond jumpers are as different as chalk and cheese. If the players or anyone were confused about which team was which then it's off to Specsavers for them. Doubt that our umpires have been there lately though judging by their season performances.

I agree that there is not much of a clash, however if it is determined that a clash jumper needs to be worn, Richmond have to be the ones who wear it. Adelaide finished higher, they deserve the right. No coin toss Gillon. Gill needs to understand he cannot please everyone. Adelaide deserve the right because they finished higher. StKilda had to wear their clash jumper in the grand finals they played in 2010 against Collingwood. Suck it up KB, I want all those little small forwards looking like yellow Budgerigars on Grand Final day.

Navy blue v black. With dashes of yellow on both.

I can see how there is a clash but to me it should be simple.

If there is a clash, higher placed ladder team gets to pick. Easy.

Id be wild if the dees finished top and had to wear white v whoever finished 2nd because they were "bigger"

You wouldn't think so .....

It's the AFL though

More likely to get umpires wearing a yellow strip !!

I always think it funny that for almost 1.5 centuries we could work out which team was which we even had decades of B & W Tv and still worked it out but now we cannot work out Richmond and Adelaide.

No need for clash jumpers. Absolutely no need for it. Even the dullest most near sighted dimwit could work out the difference between the teams. Let one wear black shorts and one wear white shorts, there's another point of difference. Just dont allow the maggots to wear anything like the colours of either club on the day. Failing all that, let the TV networks tell us what they'd prefer.

And you are absolutely right. There is no clash between these 2 sides and if were Melbourne I would want them wearing their traditional colours.

Ahh come on all of you pull yourselves together, everybody knows there is a clash if the GF is the Crows V Tigers and the Tigers will need to throw on the yellow jumper. Lets all petition the AFL for the Tigers to wear the lovely yellow jumper on GF day, the only jumper I would prefer to see more  is the Hawks sparkly power ranger looking top.

That's right old dee.We can all remember Collingwood V North Melbourne games on B&W TV. On wet, muddy grounds we could still distinguish the teams the white shorts having turned black. When we play Richmond the contrast between our jumpers is huge. Certainly no clash here. Let's hope it's us V Tigers in next years GF and both teams are in their traditional strips.

The one and only time I have seen any clash with the MFC jumper was the night they wore pinks and some DumbItriou or other at AFL HQ decided that the maggots should wear pink too

But it seem that Gil would find trouble - what does that say about him?

Actually less clash with the traditional jumpers than the awful yellow Tiger one - but then their song does include "YELLOW AND BLACK" and not black and yellow so maybe .......

As a side note - teams should be allowed to make their own alternate strips and not have to wear white.

A majority red for us wouldnt clash with adelaide but apparently our home one does.

We were told by the AFL we couldn't have a predominantly red strip as red is a "dark" colour and were forced to create a white one. Yet Essendons clash strip is predominantly red go figure.

Exactly just another example of the Gillstapo regime trying to put their claws into something that aint broken. Just let Richmond wear White shorts and yellow socks, a 10 year old could figure this out.

Gil and his coin toss. One thing we know about Gil, he's an expert toss*r.

2010: AFL said that Collingwood had "the right" to play in their prison bars and St K would have to change. Because CFC finished higher on the ladder.

2013: AFL said that Hawthorn had "the right" to play in their wee and poo stripes because they finished higher on the ladder. And Freo had to accommodate that.

Fast forward to 2017. Tiges wore a clash jumper in their away game to Adelaide. But ... oh gee, says Gil, what a pity if the lower finishing team had to give up their traditional jumper in the GF. Oh ... (sound of hands wringing) .... maybe a coin toss?

This brings home (once again) the two great truths about the modern AFL.

1. Gil "the deal maker" does not make decisions. He makes "deals" to try to please everyone.

2. The AFL make it up as they go along.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
