Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

14,000. Lowest final attendance in 100 years.

Slow clap for the AFL. Nailed it.

☹️

The AFL dont care as long as GWS  make the GF.  Richmond will have to beat more than GWS next week to get in.  Expect a very lop sided free kick count that will see GWS up by 5ish goals at half time.  Put the whistle away after that most likely as their job will be done.

Worst finals I can recall.

And might be about to get even worse.  Imagine an Adelaide v GW$ GF.  Will be lucky to get 85k and the ratings, outside of Adelaide, could be the worst in many years.  I certainly wont be watching those two play off.

Spot on. And I've noticed that the 7 commentary team has tried to slot in back stories about GWS players. Tonight for instance it was along the lines of 'yes, they were given massive draft concessions but Matt De Boar is in the team and he was originally pick 19. It's such a tale of perseverance against the odds'.

The whole saga makes me puke.

And Cameron Ling is beginning to make Dwayne Russell look impartial. I just assume he rubbed Stevie J's buttocks during the half time break.

I could handle adelaide gws gf. I wouldn't mind if the crows won it. I think with what they have been through the past few years and I reckon there fans would love to stick it up tippett and danger.

I would laugh if Richmond fell over in a prelim. There fans think its in the bag already.

I reckon Port would have put up a better showing. In hindsight its a shame they lost last week.

Foxtellie rang me at full time, and asked what game i was watching in some survey or something. I said i turned the AFL Game off at halftime because it wasn't worth watching and they said, good on you, we don't know why we Televised it either and i won a prize and then......

If Leon Cameron can't get it right next week after seeing Richmond twice this year already it will make up my mind he's not even remotely close to being a good coach.

Have a feeling the GWS stars might just turn it on next week, then again I had a good feeling going into round 23.

Just a little side note on the umpiring. I noticed that Shuey got caught in in tackle the same as last week (tackled correctly, moved his arm to push the tackle high) but called play on this time.

I wonder how they would justify this one.

Ling should never do anything with a Jeelong player involved!

it just shows what a true proffesional Lou Richards was along with other Commentators from his era.

It has been a BOG ? ordinary Final Series so far

Last Years was brilliant...

And I had to laugh when Toby Greene was tackled head high(so obvious) and almost had his head pulled off and the Eagles player reckoned he ducked.LOL

In that incident Greene lowered his torso as a result of letting his legs collapse (so to speak) ... however,  like many other players,  he disguised it well.

Hard to see in real time from a consistency point of view but nonetheless,  it goes on and it will only get worse.

As for nearly having his head pulled off,  Greene suffered zero ill-effects and what we saw was a player milking high contact because he's allowed to do so.

Make no mistake, the high contact controversy is only going to get worse.

yes but the difference being he didn't duck INTO the player, he legitimately tried to get around the player and evade the tackle by going under it. no rule states you just have to stand and cop the tackle. Anyway the tackle was a crude swinging arm and was always going to be high.

It all amounts to the same thing in my eyes dc

I would only ever pay high contact if the tackler deliberately targeted the neck/head area.  And I have felt that way for decades.

High contact frees handed out are generally soft and often the contact is incidental and/or negligible.

In league,  union, the NFL even soccer, high contact penalties are only enforced when it's an 'obvious' infringement.  Incidental contact is let go (generally)

In our sport,  some of the most frivolous free kicks are given for the softest of high contact.  It's a part of our sport that I detest.

And now the players are out to exploit the ruling ... the Eagles did it in a game against us a few years ago.   Remember that?

The alarm bells should have been raised there & then.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
