Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

VFL Semi Final - Casey Demons v Richmond VFL

There should be an inquisition into how Ben Kennedy didn't get a single look in at afl level this year. Constantly puts his body on the line. Yeah, he can't kick over a jam tin, but his kamikaze attack on the ball and consistent high possession winning should have been rewarded. Can't believe Wagner, Kent and Trengove got a look in and a small forward that attacks every contest like his life depends on it had his cards stamped early.

And for the sycophants that say goody knows best, just remember that Spencer and Tim Smith got a look in before Pedersen and we all know how that worked out.

This is simple. If you can't kick, you can't be a professional footballer. Melbourne and Casey are the worst kicks in their respective leagues. No matter how good you are in other areas, it all falls apart if you can't kick.

The Tigers kicking was horrible last night and it didnt seem to hurt. more emphasis on pressure acts these days.  caddy, prestia and their smalls have poor kicking skills.

not sure I like where the game is heading

Jake Spencer - the greatest list clogger in VFL/AFL history. Hopefully we will be put out of our misery this off-season

Weideman's lack of aggression is a real concern for me. Looks a very nice footballer. Would like to have seen him take Morris by the scruff of the neck the second time he picked off Maynard. Needs a serious dose of the angry pills, Weideman.

Yes Weideman is a nice boy. Think Jack Watts. Needs a year in the Northern Footy league. No faint hearts allowed

Ben Kennedy must be very unlucky.  Clearly too good for VFL yet not given a game at MFC. He should go to Crows or Power and tell MFC to fu#%{of

There is nothing wrong with Weideman's attack on the footy in the air. If anything its a strength. When in the contest does not take many marks yet but also rarely is out marked. At this stage does not lead to the right spots and does not have the engine for consistent multiple leads. Big year for him next year which being its his third should be when he starts to show consistent ,maturity. Still think he will be a quality tall forward.

Kennedy was said to be close to getting a game until he was involved in that incident after the Box Hill game that caused him to be suspended.

Richmond have no injuries and could pick almost every player this weekend. Casey was limited by who had qualified.  Casey tried everything today. I'm not unhappy with that performance. Some ordinary kicking for goal early cost them the game but they had a crack. Those saying Richmond have more depth are wrong in my opinion. Not one of you is angrier about Melbourne's big head issues this year than me. The Dee's get massively ahead of themselves for no reason, in my opinion. The club can say what they want but won't change my mind. Richmond had 6 or 7 players that would struggle to get games in other teams but they are committed and front up to play. The Dee's could learn from that.

Interesting...most experts didn't predict Casey making top 8 ....let alone top 4.  We had lost senior Casey players & with Melbs quite young list ...Casey weren't predicted to go far.  With the amount of injuries to the senior side which sorely tested our depth...I would have thought it pretty commendable that they did. Richmond has one player on their injury list ....not all doom & gloom surely ?

i wish there was some truth in this assessment. personally looks like a bust to me. i'd look to trade whilst he still "appears" to have some potential. tough but you've got to be ruthless these days

Apart from a terrible second quarter we were pretty good today considering the odds were heavily stacked against us. Next year expect Casey to have a big impact again

that decision by those three players cost us a spot in the finals... not the only reason but definitely cost us.. 10 points off finals

Yep.

Tigers had a full side.

If we had:

Kent

VDB

Joel Smith

Tim Smith

Garland

White

and guys like Pedo who played a lot for Casey early,

plus Gus not going off early,

it may have been a bit different.

Thanks KC, Drunken and all other posters another poor quarter of footy has cost us a chance to stay in the race but as mentioned earlier we have had a terrible run with injuries in 2017 which has impacted both teams and both teams did fight back. it's a sorry end to what could have been a hell of a lot better for all of us. Go Casey, Go Dee's in 2018..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weideman needs to focus on building his tank this summer so he can actually run / lead to space and get some cheap footy. So many of his attempts at the mark are from a standing start and then in an effort to reach the ball at its highest point (and often bad delivery) he gets pushed under the drop of the ball.

He tackles well and always taps the ball on to team mates where necessary so I think he has a lot to offer with a good footy brain - not to mention he's a pretty good kick on both sides. Just needs to get to more contests and to get to them first without the opposition affecting his run.

Jay Kennedy-Harris is still a terrible player. Trenners is finished. Kennedy played one good quarter.

Maynard is an absolute bull. Give him a big pre season and he could be anything at AFL level.

Don't understand why Jay Kennedy-Harris got a contract extension when he is timid & his kicks lack penetration. I didn't like how he played when he got games in the seniors earlier in the year.

I don't rate him.

I was there, thousands of Richmond supporters and about 30 Demons, they're up and about the Tigers supporters. We just stopped in second quarter then woke up again for 40 minutes in third and last quarter. Disappointing but Stretch was good and Maynard was brilliant, Keilty looked ok too. Bit sad coz reckon it's last game Trenners will play as a Demon

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
