Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The use of this or any other reputable forum gives clear instructions on how it can be used and what may happen if someone ventures into the realms of slander and such - take the time to read the pinned posts regards this.

If I post anything specific - true or not - the mods would be all over it like a rash, I'd be banned and you'd miss my excellent contributions.

Well good you admit you are venturing into the realms of slander now the definition of slander -  making false and damaging statements about (someone). Sorry but you shot your own credibility in the foot.

I'm sure there will be much gossip and rumors about Jake. Sorry AFL clubs dont make recruiting decisions based on gossip and rumors. Its going to be damn tough to get him the competition is ruthless.

No doubt teams like Geelong, Richmond and Essendon will be very attractive but these days we are as good if not better than them.

Look, I don't think he's a game-changer like you do. I do know that long term success comes from really good organisational culture. If we trade for Stringer I'd be gobsmacked given the journey we're on.

Essendon and Geelong can have him for the quick hit they're after but I don't reckon the Dogs will take anything low.

I reckon Stringer will still be at the Dogs next year.

You are more than entitled to your opinion.

Hopefully we agree to disagree. Unlike many on here I wont be swayed by huss-huss, wink-wink, gossip or rumors that borders on slander.

As I've stated I think Bulldogs have handled Stringer situation terribly - I think the Bulldogs have stuffed this up.

Paul Connors his manager holds his future in his hands - not the Bulldogs.

All I'll say is that there's more than one problem child among that list and the players seem to 'get around' other players sisters and ex-partners quite a bit. That coupled with a certain group of players more concerned with other income streams than the one from the WB's has caused a helluva lot of issues and gives a good indication of why there appears to be a lack of communication between players and FD/club officials. The sort of stuff that needs to be kept under wraps let's say.

Stringer has indeed been made a scapegoat - mainly because he was the worst at 'rebounding' from leisure activities and thereby failing to perform during games.

Based on some of the finer details I listened to, I very much doubt the MFC will go looking at Jake STringer.

For what it's worth, this is highly consistent with what I've been told, but you have more detail about the nature of the problem. My source was a bit more insistent that the club believed that the option with the most potential to deal with the problem was to trade out Stringer, as this was likely to stop them having to trade out others, though this may still have to be done. The nature of the contact with my source meant that it wouldn't have been appropriate to press them further.

To get a view of what life has been like at the kennel in recent times browse thru these:

1) Re Liberatore's off field issues: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/tom-liberatore-in-hot-water-again-for-unacceptable-behaviour-20150702-gi3b85.html

Among the interesting points in the article this was fascinating:  "It's been reported that the 23-year-old was scheduled to travel to Europe with non-Bulldog friends, however the club intervened and instead diverted him to a country where they felt his rehabilitation can be better accommodated...That country is reportedly Thailand".  Thailand isn't exactly where one goes to rehab from a knee injury.

Have his issues improved?  His 2016 performance says he has. His  2017 performance says probably not.   Now, it would be a bit hard for the Bulldogs to dump the son of a club champion and Brownlow medalist.  So I can understand the proposition that Stringer is the fall guy.

Could it be that history will see their 2016 Premiership in the same light at the Eagles of 2006.

2) And for more off field issues:  http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/western-bulldogs-park-contract-discussions-with-jason-mccartney-but-deny-rift-20170918-gyjt2l.html

It seems the List Manager and Recruiter don't communicate much and don't see eye to eye  "... sparking speculation the pair have clashed over individual players and overall recruiting philosophy."

The kennel is a bit of a mess of their own making.  Maybe the whole club has a premiership hangover.  Doubt they will win another in a hurry.

Well, you have to say one thing. With the "difficult characters" the Dogs have on their list, they've managed to get them all pulling in the same direction long enough to win the ultimate reward. Speaks volumes for the support structures around the club.

I reckon those structures and disciplines were built by McCartney and his 'tough love'.  But the players couldn't handle the 'tough love' so he was sacked.

Beveridge comes along and gives them lots of cuddles and they loved him for it and played their hearts out for two years, masking over the problems.  And they were fired up enough to fluke the flag.

In 2017 their problems rose to the surface and they couldn't handle them: football staff bickering, players jealous of Tom Boyd's $$$, in-fighting by two players over relationships, two other players on leave for mental health issues, other players with off field 'behaviour' issues etc.  And that is just what is in the public domain.  Not a happy place, the kennel.

Anyway, I feel a bit sorry for Stringer.  Never like to see someone made the scapegoat.  But if WB think that will solve their problems, well...its just more masking tape!

Dating players ex-partners and sisters? That's some serious cuck kink. Gary Lyon is a lightweight. Did he look them up in the yellow pages and arrive at their door stop dressed as an Australia Post employee who has "Come to deliver a package" ? Or did it start with an innocuous facebook poke? Either way i feel like i've stumbled upon an adult movie script.

Was Hunt the scapegoat at GCS?  I'm not suggesting anything about Stringer other than to say if the club has identified him it's a big call to make him the scapegoat because he's also an incredible asset.  It would be unusual to make that sort of choice.

I'm surprised so many are struggling to join the dots.

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
