Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

C'mon, mate, consider yourself Warned.

Ball of the century.

Bit like football - Gatting thought it was going one way when in reality it went the other way. Importantly you have to make your opposition think its going the way you dont want it to go.

Sport can be so much like life at times.

Yeah- Nah.  Gatting was a very good player of spin. He played for a normal leg spinner and thrust his pad outside the line of leg stump to nullify the spin as the ball pitched outside leg, he just wasn't prepared for the amount of spin and was beaten all ends up.

His reaction when he turned back and shrugged his shoulders is the most British reaction I have ever seen for a dismissal.

Agreed.  What made that delivery so special was the impact that it had.  Day two of the first test and Australia hadn't batted that well on Day 1 to be all out for under 300.  England appeared to be batting alright, but when Warne bowled Gatting everyone including the Poms knew that we had a weapon that was going to win us the Ashes.

The previous Ashes tour of England Trevor Hohns had bowled well, but was really just doing what most spinners do in providing a cut out to the fast bowlers.  Warne changed that with one delivery and signalled the resurgence of leg spin and a challenge to the quicks as a legitimate strike weapon capable of ripping the heart out of any middle order batting lineup.

We are trying to remove Watts for behavioural reasons, and you want to bring in Stringer?

Errrr no.

You obviously want the club to bring in just ready made players who are upstanding citizens, and have no faith in the club to bring out a person's best.  I'm not a fan of stringer the person, but someone somewhere will almost certainly get a great return on what will probably be a mid level investment. I'd like to think our club could do that, we don't have a track record in this regard and it would be a great leap forward for MFC if we added that string to our bow.

Given McCartney coached Jake, and most likely knows the full story and potential of this deal and player, if we make a play it will be late and successful.

Stringer, when on, is a mercurial match winner. A more mature, team oriented and defensive version of Jake, would add further sting to our forward half.

There is no doubt Stringer is a mercurial talent, but its clear he prefers at this stage to want to be elsewhere. Cant see how he gets to the Bombers his 2nd preference - think the Bombers shafted him to get Smith. Think they (Bombers) told him one thing then proceeded to do another. Does he go back to option 1 on lesser dollars or have they also moved on.

Could be a very interesting last week.

Managing a player with significant behavioral issues a leap forward for the MFC? Shirley, you can't be serious.

Perhaps we can see if Nick Kyrgios wants to join the board.

Exactly.

Even if we had any interest in him, which we clearly don't, the Dogs want a first round pick for him.  We just traded the ones we had.  It simply won't happen.

The WB bridge is burnt. Essendon are trading their picks bc bullies are slow and greedy. WB may have to accept whatever they are given. Bombers in box seat for a bargain at pick 24 or similar. But maybe we can do something about that...

Having said that,) I don't want him in red and blue in 2018

Probably all the information that's needed here. Through McCartney we would know everything you would need to know - and more. If we make a move, it'll be with eyes wide open.

(Would surprise me though).

Yes very serious.  Don't you get that this club hasn't got the most out of what we have had talent wise for many years.  Development isn't just skills development, it's people and personality management.  Other clubs have done it way better than us.

Mahoney, as would be his lot , would have been on the blower to Stringer's management well before TWSNBN blew up their no11 ticket, greedy little blighters.

Stringer is untapped talent. Imagine him and Petracca running around the HF flanks.........

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
