Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You probably thought the same about Jeffy.

I'm with DC. I'm very suspicious of players who turn up to pre-season regularly out of shape and then struggle through the year only to pull out their best footy when they're soon to be out of contract. He's the type we need but not the player we need.

Motlop was very good in the semi final and Dangerfield really talked up his general defensive running.  His best is exactly what we lack.

And his usual is exactly what we are trying to eradicate from the team.

Same could've been said for what Jeffy was about when he came to the club. We turned him around and got him playing the footy we wanted out of him.

I honestly think Motlop should be seriously looked at by the club.

Garlett was at Carlton - a team and club seriously struggling when he came to us. We weren't going much better but after a year of Roos we were steady and on the rise. Besides a bad final year at Carlton he'd been a consistent 40 goal a year player who struggled in tight games - and still does.

Motlop's been at Geelong, one of the best run clubs with good leadership and well prepared and supported players. I'm not sure he's really a player that will be or needs to be turned around, he's a good player now with some flaws and that's what he'll be in the future. I'd gladly have him but with realistic expectations and I'm not sure the price will be right.

Im not a fan of Motlop at all. Runs one way, fades in and out of games. If he played in an average team is flaws would be more exposed.

Dangerfield specifically praised Motlop's two way running.

I think we should have a look at Mckenzie.

I like oscar but I'm not sold in frost, if lever comes on board we could have three very good key backs all of a sudden and allow tommy to play forward where he I think is more dangerous

Worth a try, storming into the square.   But what will his opponent get up to.

And danger may well be trying to sell him to other clubs.

Jeffy at Carlton was much more consistent than Motlop has ever been. Although his commitment could have been questioned, And was at Melbourne.

He has responded.  I don't want to take the chance on Motlop.

Give me Aaron Hall, I'll chance him, & I think we can work on him to make him a better player.

Macca can.

Motlop's intensity has been questioned at times, but Dangerfield was keen to paint a very different picture of the Cats' No. 32.

“He has a huge hunger to win and to be great and that is what I love about Steve,” he said.

“I think his leadership this year has really increased, his direction with the younger players and the ability to speak up at meetings.

“He just understands the game. When he speaks, it makes sense.

"When his performances have been poor, he’s still been vocal in voicing his opinion on how to improve. I think that’s a sign of a good player.”

I think Danger is auditioning for captaincy, or a job in the marketing department.

I didn't take it that way when I heard it.

I think danger would not say anything lesser about anything to do with what his love is.

On the other hand he just said "have you been to Adelaide, it's not very nice over there"

Now that wasn't being fully honest there either. He was trying to make them hurt & angry for his own benefit. free kicks etc.

Motlop was good on Friday night against the tide.  He played 2 good finals games where he worked hard.  He offers pace and creativity we lack.  Probably end up at North or Port and star against us.

He played really well again Old. I remember being keen a year or two ago. I'd be very happy to be wrong and see him find consistency in a red and blue jumper. As I said earlier, he's definitely the type of player we need. The Giants looked their best tonight when someone took a chance and broke the lines. Hunt really is the only player we have who has this ability.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
