Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

BREAKING: Melbourne has accepted Port Adelaide's offer of pick 31 for Jack Watts. LIVE UPDATES: http://bit.ly/2gLfVBz  #AFLTrades

Seems like we desperately needed Jack gone - that on the surface seems like a very very average deal but we are mushrooms in the dark as to the true  reasons behind all this

That's a shocker!

We can only hope/pray that they have a deal in the works to bundle our picks up for something more substantial...

You would like to think so but wouldn't that be announced at the same time if so?

The club better be packaging that pick 31 up with some other stuff to advance ourselves in the draft or land another quality player, otherwise it is a poor trade and we've been robbed this trade period.

Not many left from 186...

If Garland retires...I think it leaves Jones, Tmac and Gawn who were on the list at the time 186 was played...

Good.

Ill be disappointed if we dont package these picks for a competitive depth player of the Maynard or Vandenberg variety.

Agree. I think many others will be having a hard conversation.

But confused by setting standards and then allowing others to stay on

I can’t see how Kent stays given 5 years of nothing and was disciplined this year. Not even within Watts sphere for talent.

I can’t see how Bugg stays. JJ social media. Unbelievable behind the play incident !!!

What would we get for Kent, Bugg?  Nothing.  They are handy depth, at a fraction of the price of Watts.

Also, we don't know what was discussed in their exit interviews, and further to that, the response.

Thank Christ it's over.

Time to move on.  You can be angry about the pick but it will change nothing.  Club wanted to move on, so should we.

Thanks for everything, Jack.

Yes draft pick is very poor in a shallow draft

but overall we Agree again. We are on a roll.

It's not just about Watts. He's the lightning rod. But there's more at play.

Goodwin is making a statement. And it is not "if we can only get rid of Watts, we'll be a finals winning side".

You can bet your behind that this is not the only aspect of his stand.

This is only part of it. He will having quiet words to Gawn, Bugg, Kent, probably Jesse in the pre season when 2017 is behind him, and others. Assuming they don't get the message anyway.

It's about setting standards that cannot be dodged or done in a half @rsed fashion.

If he got rid of Kent, would everyone get the message? Maybe, maybe not.

But he's gotten rid of Watts. Is anyone in any doubt at all of his determination to succeed?

Go Goody.

Go Demons.

GOLD, could be the best post I've read in this thread.

I've processed different emotions regarding the process of Jack's exit: shock, dismay, disbelief, regret (I love a good story of redemption), and anger, but it is now done and if this hasn't sent a rocket through the list, nothing will.

There's a clear message here, and it is one of an uncompromising mission for success in 2018, and beyond. For years we've kept things the same and wondered why things have not changed - but here we go! I wish Jack the best, he seems like a pretty chill guy, but I'm really excited for the years ahead.

We've turned a corner here.

Agree Norm. Strongly agree on Kent.

I am all for setting team standards, but not one for making statements.

The measure of Goodwin and the clubs judgement will be played out in 2018.

It will be weird not seeing watts in the red or blue. It will now be interesting to observe him as another footballer in another team.

Hey at least he will probably get to play in China.

Best of luck jack.  I hope you do well and its a shame u didn't get to play finals with us.

I think the rest of the team has been put on notice. U would be stupid to rock up to day 1 of pre season overweight or unfit.

Absolutely agree with this. A big and expensive message has just been sent to the playing group.

Port Adelaide, a direct competitor to us in the 5-8 bracket have just brought in Rockcliff, Motlop and Watts.... for a total cost of pick 31. They've had a tremendous trade period.

Comparatively, we've brought in Lever, but have lost Watts and 2 first round picks. Paid overs and let quality go for unders. The late picks are irrelevant unless tied to a player trade as they will produce speculative kids at best. The club better package those 2nd round picks up and make something happen or we've had a poor trade period and lost further ground on our direct finals competitors.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
