Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Absolutely crazy Watts traded for a pick in the 30's. I wonder if he comes back to bite us in the bum what's going to be said, too late he is gone I personally hope he will go on and shove it up Goodwin's a##e GO WATTSY AND THANK YOU BUDDY

Interesting if you would have this opinion if Watts was lining up to kick the winning goal against us in the Grand Final...

People really need to relax... It is one player who every other club would say has done bugger all in 9 years!

we're there or thereabouts, expectation is finals in 2018, we have a reasonable amount of talent on the list at long last

and like everyone he expects t mac to play forward with lever coming in and watts going out

In the main I agree with this.  I find it difficult to understand why the club has been so public about Jack's so-called shortcomings.  Sure, go to the trade table with him if you want to, but do it quietly behind closed doors.  Regardless of his failings, JW does not deserve such a public airing of his perceived faults.

That said, I get a sense that there is a lot more to this than we know.  But just what that may be, who knows?

What exactly has the club said publicly....Jones ...Mahoney...alluded to some unprofessional training standards ...everyone knew that....never heard any other untoward criticism....but happy to be directed to the relevant statements that support your claims

Didn’t say you shouldn’t have an opinion I said you’re a person focusing on the negative. Sure you’re entitled to your negative opinion as I’m entitled to my positive one. Which to my belief is two ways to look at the situation. Hardly an oxymoron.

I've spoken about Watts on numerous occasions in a positive light. Stop assuming everyone that doesn't share your sentiments hasn't had anything positive to say about him at any point. Assumptions never lead to productive discussion.

As have I.. I’m talking about his football not him as a person. I think you’re missing the point.

And what's the point exactly? That I'm incorrect in saying that I believe he has a NET negative impact on our team and expressing that on a public discussion forum?

Consider my use of the term net.

And who's talking about him as a person? I thought we were talking about footy ...

Exactly.  Hardly banging his/our door down with lucrative deals.

The three sides can see that it's a risk that is worth taking.  If it doesn't work, they haven't lost a lot.  Geelong also have a track record of thinking they can fix our players, with not a great deal of success mind you.

No sickly feeling with me, SONS.  I'm one of the supporters that you speak of, and I'm quite content with it.

I tell you what, I wanted the whole team to cop a hiding after the way they finished off the season.  I'll excuse some of the young kids that ran out of puff.  I will never accept that a senior player/s didn't prepare as good as they could've.  If Watts was the biggest culprit, then I'm glad they have made an example of him.

I was quite numb after not making the finals, and lost a lot of interest in the finals series in general.  Insipid performances from my team did this to me.  I feel some sense of relief that Goodwin and co won't accept mediocrity.

The telling point about all this is that out of 18 sides, from what has been reported, only 3 expressed an interest in picking up Watts.  That's telling.

Perhaps only 3 suitors when MFC says Watts is to be traded due to non adhering to team standards and character requirements. Not a great sales campaign

Agree that missing finals hurt.  It was a kick in the guts.

But remove missing finals as due to Watts!!

that was due to inconsistency by the WHOLE team (excl Oliver) and poor Jesse Hogans many issues.

Didnt see Watts in the last quarter v Lions when they kicked 5 goals in 7 minutes.  22 others that day turned a percentage boost into a heart stopper. That and the Magpie loss effectively killed our season.

The Brisbane game cost us the most.  A game that would've secured our spot in the 8, and where was Watts?  Running around in the [censored] 2s.

I have always had respect for Jack and had hoped a visit to our first final in what is now eleven years would of had him in the side. His work this year when he came into the side was amazing and Port will benefit greatly from Watts on their list.

I know he has had his knockers and critic but the fella can play. Not every player needs to get their head knocked off to get the ball. In saying this, I understand he does at times not do this enough. Admittedly we have never really played him where he should have played, as a forward.

Would just like to say to Jack, thank you for being at the Dee's and thankfully, you played 150 games. I hope Port is a place where you get the best out of yourself and play to the potential you have. As much as it will pain me when you kick a few against the Dee's, it will be great to see you out there doing what you do best.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
