Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If he does, it needs to be a galvanising moment for him and he'd need to come out firing in 2018. Otherwise he'd certainly be gone at the end of next season you would think.

To be honest if Watts came out and said "I'm staying and will prove myself to the MFC and force the coaches hands in terms of earning a place in the best 18.'  That would have the be the best outcome for all parties. It shows Watts is going to shoulder responsibility for whats happened in his career to date, and prove doubters wrong.

Not sure that will be the outcome. However if he is only worth a second round pick (thats 30+ if we are talking Sydney or Port) then he's more value to the club as a player surely!

From his presser:

Wants to stay, would be a shock to miss out on the good times ahead, thinks he's playing good footy up until the hammy and then struggled..

Surprised by Goodwin's words and the opinions of the coaches.

Not really what I wanted to hear from him. Mindset hasn't changed.

Why say he 'doesn't want to miss out on the good times ahead', when he could say 'I want to help drive the footy club to its next flag?'

The hunger isn't there.

Question: Is it only possible to listen to trade radio via the AFL website?

Jack very strong on wanting to stay.

Clearly different view than the one Goodwin is trying to portray - that they have a great relationship, he wants to look at options, Jack is welcome to stay etc etc.  He and the club are trying to paint a picture that it was Jack's decision to go so that they can appease supporters.

Jack is bucking that and letting supporters know he desperately wants to stay.

He wouldn't take Goodwin on like that if there was a chance of him staying.

I think that's a reasonable assessment of his season isnt it?, although I think his pre-season might have indicated a lack of commitment to the team's goals

I think another thing that is a little odd is when he pinged his hamstring, I remember the club and Misson indicated that it was very minor and he would be back pretty quickly....(1-2 weeks max!)  that explanation dragged out over his rehab time (4 or 5 weeks?) which either indicated the conditioning staff misjudged or misrepresented the injury and how significant it actually was, or Watts rehab of that injury wasn't as good as it should have been.

Is my recount of this different to others here on DL?

I'm glad he wants to stay and his manager has said MFC have handled this well so far.

the fact that he is surprised by this after being dropped twice this year - almost missing round 1 and the last couple of rounds says a lot.

you dont know what you have until its gone - or almost gone. My heart wants him to stay and do well but my head says he will continue to be inconsistent. my liver wants me to stop drinking but my spleen is up for up...

confusing times indeed!

I got the impression that the initial injury was at the lower end of the scale but he did more damage at training

The rules of Misson's injury report:  1 to 2 is really code for 4.2.6.:)

They really don't know how long soft tissue injuries take.  In Jack's case he had had back spasms, a problem ankle and hamstring tightness in the weeks prior but kept playing.

So these probably complicated his recovery.

Didn't Goodwin say, that if watts ends up staying, "he knows clearly what is expected of him"?

it would seem that an ultimatum has been given and Jacknshould be crystal clear about where he stands. I guess if he stays and doesn't live up to the expected standard, he will be in the seconds and let go this time next year.

Good on him.

Even after the way the club has operated over his time with us, it sounds like his attitude is the same as the thousands of long-suffering fans - he loves the club.  Yes, there are many points that he can improve on as a player, but it's great to hear someone on our list so steadfast in their desire to stay and be part of what we're building.

Who knows if he stays or goes, but contrast this attitude with the news coming out of the club in trade weeks 2011-15... it is a very, very different place.

What would he mean by good times other than getting to a flag?  Give him a bit of slack for goodness sake.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
