Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's funny how people see different things - I saw a Grand Final that was won by a frenetic side that had a couple of class skilful players forward of the ball doing all the damage. Shaun Edwards is not the hardest of players but he committed to the frenzy and the Tigers were rewarded with his vision and skill.

I get why Watts is ostensibly seen as 'anti-finals footy' but I don't know about that. Won't know until it happens I suppose.

And look at last year with the Dogs. Not the most skilled team, but the hungriest.

We can be there next year, but there has to be 22 guys that want it more than anything. Could we say that with our best 22?

Watts would be a weak link in the last 2 premiership teams. May have got away with playing in a side like the Hawks 3peat in an Isaac Smith type role but when you're a side that relies on every single player playing with frenetic pressure (as we do) he is a weak link.

Interesting trade period coming up but I have faith in Viney, Taylor, Goodwin and the rest of the FD.

Hungry, pressure football. It is one thing to be skilled. You need to be HUNGRY for the win. 22 players all hungry. Watts stands out, not because he's an easy target, and not just because he's a key forward. Because efforts like his one against North are so damn obvious. It stands out. We can't just keep saying he's an easy target, because he's not. It's one thing to not be good but still have the effort like a Simon Godfrey, or a Tapscott, or a Kent. It's another to not have the obvious drive and hunger to compete. Today only further highlights how badly out of touch he is.

No matter how thick the smoke from my cheroot swirled today some truths are inescapable and wattsy will never be in premiership team nor will josh Jenkins so let jack go to wherever and take what you can pick 25 or 38 or 49 or 99 but let him be gone and the same goes for the other fourteen on our list who would never have got a game with the tigers today like jkh stretch Salem Wagner white Spencer Hulett Trengove tsmith pedo flippers Kent King Vanders

Finally, some sense

It's not all about Jack

Some plodders in that Tigers team today... but they committed to the frenzy and trusted their teammates.

Grigg, Houli and Edwards have all been labelled soft over their journey...

Role players get taken on the coat tails of singular talent to flags, so stop worrying about Watts, Vanders, et al; do we have the star power?

It's a different thread but it's the only thread...

But none of them have been left out of the side for poor preparation, and I can't recall them being dropped for poor form lately.

Keep up with your "Keep Jack Watts" campaign, but it's falling on deaf ears.

I am a twenty year member of the Melbourne Football club and have been as passionate and patient as anybody. However I am absoulutely disgusted with Goodwin and the Club for telling Jack to explore his options. Jack Watts is an integral part of this club. We are horribly short of 195cm plus skillfull players. I believe jack to be very important to our future. Just take a look at the club promotions on the website and elsewhere. Jack is upfront in everything. If he goes then we stand to lose membership, sponsorship and supporters. This will split the club mark my words. In fact I will be reassessing my involvement. I have always believed Jack Watts was a very important part of our next premiership, which I am starting to think is now a very long way away. Goodwin has concerned me as the season has gone on and he is close to losing me totally. If Watts goes then Goodwin will struggle to see his contract out. This is going to set the Melbourne Football club back a long way. It saddens me to say this but that's the situation we face now. I was very down today watching the grand final knowing that when we start to get to a position of possibly challenging for the flag , we start to trade the players most likely to get us there.

Sadly, I have NO faith in those guys. You must have skill on your list. Trade Watts and we are downhill skiing big time. Watched Lever closely today. Is he as good as some are making out? 15 disposals is not sensational and there was plenty of opportunity to have more. The Tigers had the ball in their forward zone so often. Looked up Lever's average disposals for the season. 16.  The much maligned Watts had an average disposal rate of 15.9. not any real difference there and we do know his disposal is elite. Bad decision MFC.

People keep harping on poor season preparation from Watts. Can anyone imagine a fat, flabby Jack Watts failing the skinfold test? And the only deaf ears would be yours and the other members of a minority group sticking the knife into Jack. Maybe they haven't played much footy themselves.

I don't get comments like yours, you're just making up [censored] now so you can have a dig at Watts via a made up scenario.

he was in the best players when we were beaten in round 23 by the riff raff from Collingwood. Where were all the guns when we needed them in such an important game for the club. It pisses me off all the so called Melbourne supporters who continually ridicule  our players all the time, Im over it.

Watts won't be the difference between winning or losing a premiership. He's clearly a poor trainer. Pressure wins premierships, and Watts has never been good at pressure acts. That's how an ordinary side like Richmond won it. Pressure, pressure, pressure that's what it's all about and Watts doesn't do it.

absoulute rubbish. Watts is not an in and under player. he is a finisher, If the ball is delivered correctly and he is used he will provide the finish. he has been used all over the ground to cover our deficiencies and has done it well.how many times did we see him kick a goal and then pop up soon after in the back line stopping a forward thrust by the opposition. Some of you people don't seem to understand footy at all. He had a good year but like other players came back from injury underdone. was that his fault or was he brought back too soon, we will never know. I am so annoyed at all the Watts bashers. Goodwin hung him out to dry pre season, when he could have easily said we are trying others on the list and dealt with Jack in private. I don't think Jack has ever got the support of the club during his career. This club will regret it if Jack departs.

Give me a spell. What a load of tripe. You're basing his importance on our club promos?

How does losing a player, who has had 1 good year in 9, set the club back?

You say that you are a 20 year member, but I'm curious to know how long you've been following the club? In the 45 years that I've been following the club, the only player that we let go that set back the club was James McDonald. But the club was tanking at the time, so you could understand the logic.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
