Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most of the list probably had 6 ordinary games in 2017.

Many of our list haven't improved their ball use over a few seasons. But that doesn't seem to matter - ball use clearly isn't something that we consider important. Nor does running off the ball, nor making intelligent leads, nor stopping your opponent from being third man up in the marking contest. Nor shepherding, nor blocking for teammates.

It's all about smashing in for contested ball, or bombing it into the f50.

I agree with the points here...

But in fairness you are and from the outside you can only assuming these things weren't taught or coached. There could be reasons why execution wasn't perfect through out the season.

I suppose my point is that while Watts & Salem seemed to be punished for not smashing in, only the fringe players like Wagner & White ever seemed to be punished for not taking due care with their ball use. Yes, I think that for some of them (Viney & Tyson for a start) their execution was affected by injuries they carried. But that's also true of Watts & Salem, who were clearly hampered against GWS but took the rap for the debacle nevertheless.

This should go in the Goodwin thread. Every fan thinks there team does things 'that good teams don't do' but we are different - we know.

Funny, as reading that thought exactly that.

Watts and Salem were singled out for not committing to some contests.

Some are singled out for not hitting targets

Some committed undisciplined acts

Some failed to run hard enough.

It is what its is, calling it anything else helps no-one.

It is by recognising these issues and calling them out that we get better.  Players get opportunities to improve these issues according to KPIs delivered by managers.

Like all employee/manager relationships when an issue continues to cause problems decisions need to be made by managers to take stronger action.

These decisions are made to strengthen the team unit.

i support strengthening the team unit sufficiently to win a premiership.

"He ran so hard from the midfield,Jack Watts when he saw he could get on the end of that"...& a minute or so later got his hand to a certain goal from Collingwood....on that commentary alone .....he's a keeper for me. Unlike many on here I have learnt to temper my expectations....if he hadn't been a No 1 there would be such less angst...I just look at him who when he plays his best ..def best 22....similar to the majority of players at our club. I know this is a discussion forum ....but the amount of discussion regarding Jack Watts that pop up in subject discussions that start off with no relevance to him but somehow end up being all about him is frankly quite "staggering"

Watts as good as gone according to Waldron on Hungry for Sport  SEN. On $500,000 apprently and needs to be moved to make way for Lever.

So, the Dees sign him for 3 years and then one year in realise they can't afford him to sign a key back who they've been on the lookout for a number of years?  Doesn't add up or unless it's really bad list management.

Given new salary cap as result of cba i think Waldron might just be waffling out of his arze !!

Think it through Wally. We've been after Lever all year. Wed have a pretty good idea as to cost. What? Suddenly...no soup for you Watts !!

Don't think so.

Why would the club just resign Hains Paint as a sponsor with Watts the face of them on the club wedsite, then trade him out. Not saying anyone is not tradable if the right offer comes up but just doesn't add up to me.

Waldron makes lots of statements and accepts plaudits if he gets it right but is never held accountable for those he gets wrong. Last night "On the Couch" Michael warner stated that Watts stays so clearly someone has got it wrong. I would not trust anything waldron says and he always has another agenda.

Watts has clearly stated he does NOT want to go and the club cannot force him to.

I do need to respond to this.

I'm not concerned about the past. My point is, in the post-Watts* Demons of 2018 and beyond, I would like to think that there's just as much discipline against those who don't improve their ball use from one season to the next and continue to turn the ball over, as there is against those who don't get to enough contests.

Because both are important if we want to climb the ladder.

That's all.

@AkumMy brother is friends with a really close friend of Jack. Said that Jack has been told a Port trade is possibly in play.

I know I know, he said she said but was just wondering what a trade to PA would look like.

OK, sounds interesting. PA just seemed an unlikely suitor I guess.

haha the Dees under salary cap pressure?  due to all of our stars we have in their prime?

we've only ever had pressure to reach 92%.

4-5 years time will be different but there is no way we need to off load anyone to pay Lever's wages

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
