Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I reckon we will use 27 or 35 to take Fritsch. Based on what I have seen he is worth either of those picks. It will just be a matter of where we believed he will be picked, and are other sides interested in him. I suspect teams will be interested in him but not speaking to him - and will just take him. I wouldn't be against us using 27 on Fritsch, but believe its more likely he probably goes at 35

Jason Taylor has stated we will be looking over the draft/trade period to increase our midfield depth and possibly look for some small pressure forwards. I can't see how Fritsch fits the bill and in fact seems to fit a role we have depth in already. I doubt we would take him inside 40.

I suspect we'll have to upgrade our pick no. 29 today so that we can confidently acquire Fritsch.

I'm concerned the Bulldogs will snatch him up with no. 28.

Supposedly they were shattered to miss out on Hannan last year (from their VFL team). I doubt they would target Fritsch to spite us, but I'm sure they are at least interested and predict we'll use one of our second round picks on him.

How does everybody know that Fritsch is even a target of ours?

What role can you see him playing Drunkn?

I'd love to see him as a deep forward, but he doesn't really have the height or weight for it. His small stature might even be an advantage though, because clubs and oppo players will definitely underestimate just how good his aerial abilities and booming left foot are.

But its hard to say, because I've seen him play high-half forward, wing, back flanker and on the ball, and dominate in those positions.

Maybe a Tom Lynch (Ade) kind of role, as that hit up half-forward before going into deep fifty, like Watts' old job.

Because it'd be crazy not to

The kids ceiling is huge and could quite possibly be an absolute steal for whoever gets him

I can see where you are going with this but he has also been in the system for 3 years? The first 2 years he was injured which is noted.

So for those who don't know, he had a significant back injury which put him out of the game for a long time.

The good news is, the surgery he had went very well and I'm pretty sure he may even have some kind of plating in his back, making the chances of another break basically 0, unlike say a dodgy leg or foot or shoulder which can keep being re-injured time and time again.

This season was really the only year he was able to fully show his talents, as he didn't come through the TAC cup system. For those that saw some of his best on games, it was honestly hard to believe the skill he has.

Put him into an AFL training system where he can bulk up and get some great coaching, I am telling you, this kid will be a superstar.

Based on your favourite players I guess its fair to say there is a fair amount of love for Casey Drunkn? Either way if you look at his stats he really doesn't get the ball that much, can kick a goal though it seems - saying he will be a superstar at AFL level is a fair stretch I think.

Very true, I do have a soft spot for the Casey boys, and I have watched a lot of VFL footy over the last 3 years.

But so far my track record is pretty good.

I said Bull would be playing AFL in his first season, I'd written off Hulett as going nowhere before anyone else, I said Neal-Bullen will become a good player after most had given up on him after his first season. Numerous times, most of my posts and predictions have been correct.

I've spoken to coaches, players, staff, scouts, Media and basically anyone who knows anything about football. Watching Fritsch, after only 1 pre season and still with a huge amount of body and footy development in him, play the way he did this season, and easily out mark experienced AFL level players, I can pretty confidentially say this kid will be a star.

But I might be wrong, and maybe I don't know as much as I think I do, only time will tell but I honestly believe this bloke has got what it takes.

well, if we do pick him up, let's hope you are right. you have certainly seen a lot more of him close-up than most

29 is mid second round ... this would be a high draft pick for Fritsch.

I think he is more likely to go late second round or first half of the third.

To use 29 will be  a hard decision as it is apparent that we need once again to start looking at topping up our mid fielders given our midfield age profile and the lack of obvious starter talent at Casey.

Not sure that he will bulk up much more. Undoubted contested marking skills. If we had not drafted Lever you could argue that he may develop into an intercept player capable of playing back and forward.

Watched him play about five times this year. Cannot recall much in the way of outstanding ground skills but I may well have missed that attribute in the scrum that is often VFL football.

Hard choice for the recruitment team.

A gun footballer doesn't get dropped in a team that possesses the weakest and least experienced key defensive unit within the AFL sorry.

Gun is another word that is thrown around far too loosely.

Frost is a developing player with some glaringly obvious weaknesses to his game, he is most definitely not a "gun".

I'd reckon this young bloke is worth the attention and the opportunity to be recruited to the Dees. A good summer workout, as hard as possible, followed by another across the year to come and he may well be the new Cameron with jumping beans.

Thanks Drunkn. Always good info in your posts .

I'd also love to see Fritsch drafted. He's great in the air and by set shot. Beautiful L/foot.

Hope the fitness boys work can build him up to take the riggers of AFL. His arms and size remind me of another #2.

If he was half as good as the great one I'd be happy to see him in the R&B.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
