Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Unfortunately one of Vince's quality is not humility. I think he'll be boasting his "I'm like a fine wine - I get better with age" line around to Goody again for another year, so I highly doubt he'll be the one to volunteer hanging up the boots.

Frost is the obvious Trade bait. I think he'll get bundled in the Lever deal somehow.

Watts' time to trade was 2015 - I can't see the club trading him one year into a 3 year contract. I'm also of the opinion that his recovery was botched by the Misson & co and was in that limbo bracket of "I'm not 100% fit but I'm not going to call an end to my year; so I'll play hindered and hope it's good enough to still play in the team and play finals"

I somehow wonder if Tmac being mentioned as trade bait has suddenly come about after his disastrous game against the Pies or if it's been sometime coming as people think he's reached his ceiling?

Surely, Vince hangs up the boots? An absolute butcher these days. Not to mention regularly exposed for a lack of pace. He's a liability playing back there and not a smart clearance player in the midfield.

I'd be keeping Stretch and Wagner, while also looking for a trade for Kent.

Lack of agility too.

He no longer has the sidestep to get around oncoming opponents, giving him the space to kick with precision. He's always throwing it onto his boot hurriedly and trying to kick around corners under intense pressure. He doesn't have the physical tools to create space for himself anymore.

And you didn't mention Bernie's propensity to miss games through carelessness and suspension, which doesn't help the team one bit.

Delist them all then make them fight to the death for a spot back on the list. It's the only way, I've thought long and hard about this.

Just don't make the ones we want to keep favorites, you know what happens then.

There were times you could see him struggling with running..I doubt it was for the want of going. I think he started to come good only in the last two games tttt

If he was injured dont play him

They played him i presume the FD assessed him as fit to play

The fact that he didnt perform is down to Jack

No excuses

Why would Freo, a team that is not necessarily blessed with tall forward talent, give up one of them for Dean Kent?  Makes little sense.

Because for the past 3 years under Lyon, they don't rate the guy and he only got another go as a last resort 3 weeks ago.

McCarthy and Kersten have been their main men up forward this season. So a late second round pick should be more than enough.

And go back to my original discussion, it is WC that needs pacey small forwards like Kent desperately and will give up that sort of pick for him.

So why do we want Taberner?  They don't rate him, and they've been a side that have chased every key forward under the sun for years.  So if he can't get a run, why would he get one with us?

Makes no sense to me.

If we want to recruit players, we want them to be best 22.  We need to improve our side, not just simply add to our depth.  That will happen when we recruit good players and we push others out.

That should be the sole mantra for trades, unless they are seen as a developing young player.

Yep, especially with where we are at as a club now.  A few years back you might look at it as support for players coming through, but we need to recruit players who will help turn us into a premiership threat, not have us treading more water.

My guess is that the lever deal will get done and frosty will be part of that. Trenners will go, as much as i hate to say it. Obviously H is already gone. Spencil will go for opportunity. I'm guessing that Hulett and white may also get delisted. Personally I'd like to see Wagner delisted too but i feel like there is still done live for him at the club.

That frees up enough slots for the draft and i don't think we need to do more than that. Kent, jkh and vandenberg will be potential trade plays but i think we would be okay to keep them too.

I don't think this trade period will be as massive as people are thinking.

If there's one thing for  sure about the silly season , it'll be that trade/signing that has most uttering " well, didn't see that one coming !!"

Thats the joy of it... love it now that we are somewhere on the spectrum of a destination club... jeez we would have been more if we got a finals berth...

Kent for Lewis Jetta? (Or Motlop FA)  I don't think we're getting pick 29 or Taberner for a current VFL playing forward, maybe only a WAFL player. So LJ: We get some outside run and hopefully a guy who [inspired by playing with his cousin] develops some consistent form. His upside is exactly what we are lacking. I'm not sure who else we could possibly get. We should've recruited Eric McKenzie last year (Or not traded Dunn)

Delist: Lumumba, Trengove, Hulett, Kennedy, White (r) - that's the easy ones.

Delist:
Spencer - not an AFL level player, often injured. Time to cut the cord and find a mature back up. If not, Tom McDonald can back up
Garland - similar to Spencer he's isn't up to AFL any more, find a way to pay him out if we can, keep him as a coach.

Kent I wouldn't mind trying to fix if there's not a trade deal for him but I wouldn't play him until he's fit enough to play wing, even if that takes all year.
Hogan I wouldn't even enter trade negotiations unless he's really unhappy or a team is selling the farm
Vince I'd keep on a modest deal but play mostly at Casey or bring in to tag.
Frost I'd rather keep but if he's part of the Lever deal and we need the salary cap space then I can handle him going, he hasn't shown enough to lock in on a long term deal if someone else offers him one.

Important to find a mature ruck and key defender if the draft/trade/free agency. I can see why we want Jackson Trengove, he can fill both spots.

Tim Smith and Keilty are going to be kept as mature age rookies. As is Maynard. So we should add a bit more depth but really we can hand over to Jason Taylor to take a lot of picks on kids even if it's a shallow draft. Maybe 3 picks in the main draft and 3 picks in the rookie draft and go with extra rookies.

IMO supporters who claim Vince and/or Wagner should be delisted have no cred. Wagner is sponsored by Demonland FCS! Vince is a recent B&F who brings much more to the team than the occasional turnover!!!

I don't have time to list the data... so I guess that makes me a [censored] with an opinion!

Justin Plapp: "Josh Wagner: Josh had 26 disposals, including 12 contested possessions, three tackles and four rebound 50s. After being left out of the AFL team, I thought he was pretty significant in the first half. He was able to get his hands on the ball and link-up. As the game went on, we had to shift him to half-back, where he’s more comfortable. But his game, on a tough night, was solid."

Haters... show me the data where someone else who plays this role did better last weekend... for any team!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
