Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

look on the positive side we get a slightly earlier draft pick. On the negative side we suck big time when we are favorites.  How we can allow sides to come out and blitz us like north and collingwood both did and we fail to fire a shot. i really worry about our so called zone defense, running sides like north and collingwood run around us and over us, they seem to have free men everywhere while our forwards think they are bananas that have to bunch up in the forward line.  you would think that when we bomb it forward that their should be an almost equal opportunity for our forwards, but more often than not the opposition intercepts. where are our forwards?

As supporters we have held up our end of the club, record attendance at games membership, our off field we will see a good report at our agm, onfield just makes it so hard for our club.  When will our players stand up.

Goodwin really owes the supporters an explanation on how a team playing for a finals spot can be out tackled all day by a side playing for nothing but pride? It beggars belief.

We put in the effort and still lose then I'll suck that up. Put in pi$$ weak effort for 90% of the day is just not on.

So gutted by this performance.

Our biggest problem all year has been going inside 50, and then defending on the turnover.

Utter garbage at both, and they do the same thing over and over each week. Need some massive changes when going forward.

Goodwin in an interview pre game stated the Pies are good starters and yet we go in with the same set up/plan every week.

For crying out loud we didn't need a percentage booster today, how hard is it to come out in the first and make it an absolute scrap?

One thing to adjust during games but another adjusting your game plan midweek to nullify the opposition from the first bounce.

I am so overwhelmed with disappointment right now I could shed a tear.

It has all pretty much been said during the thread but there are a couple of things I struggle with:

1. These guys are full time, professional AFL footballers. Their job is to play footy. How the f*** can they consistently not hit easy targets?

2. I can accept not being as skilful as the opposition.  I can even accept losing. What I cannot and refuse to accept is not busting-your-guts-till-you-vomit effort every game, every season.

We pretty much haven't played as a team all year. We have relied on a few individuals to stand up and win the games.  We have had too many passengers most weeks. I won't name them but there are a few getting games who probably would not at a dozen other teams in the comp.

Was Tom Mc Donald solely responsable for our whole first Qtr?  That's where the game was lost.

----------

He sure didn't help.

The fact is our failure to put any physical pressure on them in the first quarter cost us the game, but when it was in the balance in the last Tom was a massive handicap.

Well well well! The predictable nature of this club once again abandoned its supporter base who continue to stick fat every year.

personally I'm not that surprised and just sat there after quarter time knowing the result.  Too many passengers remain on the list, too many do not have the toughness of a Sydney team to succeed.  Not sure how this ever gets resolved.  Today was an opportunity for this club to put the foot on the throats of a lesser team, they did the complete opposite.

If by a freak of nature they survive to play finals, they don't deserve to be there.

This club from Chairman down cannot be trusted to get the job done when it's most needed.  I don't trust this club nor the team and will not trust it until they prove otherwise.  Putrid effort by team and coaches today!

Message for Jacko and Co, want trust from membership?  Want us to hope?, want us to dream? Want membership to increase?  Win games that are we expect you to win!

I want to trust this mob, just cannot.....they faaaaark it up too often.

I'm not going to go on about any negatives or players or ump decisions.

I'm just so disappointed with the result that it's gut renching and will stick with me for a long time.

Not a nice way to end the season.

I can't remember the last time we had a positive end to a season.

Spot on!  Supporters continue to hold our end up.   I Do not blame any supporter today for wanting to vent!  The players don't want it enough, they are not invested as much as the supporters.  That's the plain truth of it all.

even if we are fortunate enough to make it through to this years finals, how do you go in knowing you just barely beat this years wooden spooners and we let collingwood run over us like we were not there. What sort of confidence does that give a side going into to a cut throat final. i just dont understand why our players cannot seem to fire up and play football for 4 quarters.

The answers will be at trade week ....

Goody has some challenges in finding the leaders/culture that stops these lapses from occurring....

Very clear that we have huge lapses in our games we have lost in particular our 1st qtrs & even against the Lions & Port we let them back into the game ( though Port is a top team).

our midfield without Jack looks poor. If oliver wasn't there then we would have been decimated. Tyson is questionable he gets the ball but does not control where it goes, his disposal is poor, ANB can be iffy as well. we need another quality midfielder to support Jack and oliver.

Yep and we had our best side in

Can't say that after that performance, best side on paper excluding Viney maybe but just like paper they folded. I would rather jkh and his 19 tackles from last weeks vfl game than half the team today

5 mins in signs were all bad:

- not running

- no tackling

- more Pies at ball

Rest of game:

- few tackles (most of which were missed) in

- contested marking poor

- missed 5 easy shots on goal

- we looked slow

Shocking effort, all in all!

We need some outside speed & to let a few of the guys who butcher the ball go!

As for Petracca, he was a big reason why we were back in the game at 3 quarter time. I don't know whether Goody changed things with him or if Buckley sent coverage to him but yeah he was missing badly at the end. He wasn't the only one. He's young though, he'll get better.

Yep, I wasn't blaming Petracca for the loss. He was one of the few that stood up at different times during the game.

But I thought he had limited impact in the last quarter against NM in Tassie, and today the same. Obviously he is a very good footballer, and I'm sure with more time and preseasons his tank will grow which will help him play 4 quarters.

He could be anything, a real X factor that can really influence the game, not so much an accumulator, so I guess it's more noticeable if he goes missing.

Just a scenario to "hope we don't make it" crew out there, Richmond lose to St Kilda tomorrow, with Dustin Martin doing his hammy. Adelaide beat WCE and Melbourne qualify and are in an Elimination Final match up against the Tigers at the MCG without Martin playing.

I reckon you'd be pretty happy to be involved in September action then.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
