Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lions: Schache & 12 for Cameron & 16

Seems reasonable but a lot of stuffing around with small position shuffles. I reckon the four club reps would have walked away happy but with headaches trying to keep track of all that!

Pity if true that we couldn't get Schache.

It might suit both us and Geelong though.

If Cats get high compo for Motlop say 21, they will offer it to us for Watts and keep 20.

I find that extraordinary.

What did he specifically say for you to form that view ?

I'm sure you'll remember, otherwise you wouldn't be so certain.

Thanks.

I'd be interested in Schache if the Lions were happy with a second round pick, but I doubt we're all that keen.  We've got Weideman waiting in the wings to play alongside Hogan, plus the addition of Lever means there is a higher chance of Tom McDonald playing forward as well.

It's going to depend on what compensation pick they get for Motlop

The Cats compensation will either be start of second round or end of second round, based on the rumoured contract to Motlop.

Will be interesting what the cats do. I assume Cats will use that pick on Ablett not Watts

Yes , and I think this is the dilemma the cats face, Ablett, Watts or Stringer

What have you seen in Schache that you like ?

Saw a few games he played and went through his highlights on you tube.

He is young 20, big and strong 199cm and 96 kgs. Clearly has done the gym work looking at his guns. Has a good straight kick. Knows how to lead and does. Reasonable hands in the marking contest. Was a number 2 draft pick only 2 years ago. Has his best footy in front of him. Could also in time do a bit of ruck work as relieving 2nd ruck. He will be cheap as that mooted trade shows.

Downside is some emotional issues that hopefully can be overcome now that he is back in Victoria and with some assistance.

If Hogan leaves or tMac as a FA or Weid fails to come on, he would be there. Pedo will be gone in a year as well.

I just see a good opportunity here.

Suns want a player not a pick and want part of that players' salary paid by Cats.

Agree but if no one wants to go to GC, my gut feel is picks.

I hope GC play hard ball as well but they could also use the picks to chase another player.

My assumption is Ablett is no.1 target fot cats. Hence why Wells said it would be hard to see Cats satisfying Dees.

I'm just guessing from what I've heard

Fair enough.

I'm not a fan.  I don't see the competitive traits required to dominate at AFL level.

I know I would be in the minority, but I just see more upside than downside with the kid.

A cheap price paid helps.

He wouldn't be the first failure for us in a pick, but if it is a lower pick, then less hurt if it ends as a bust.

He was asked about further trades but the interviewer muddled the question by asking if we'd consider trading JKH and others. Mahoney definitely said no to that, indicated our interest in Balic but no reference at all was made to further future trades in this period. Certainly did not rule out the possibility as some are suggesting.

So it was the "vibe" ?

Is Balic any good or will he just be another Michie/Newton/Kennedy/Riley?

Because I'm getting really sick of these type of players.

I think what makes that difficult to answer is because he’s not played a lot of senior footy due to injury and homesickness.

He’s showed some handy form for Peel in the WAFL on occasions but his overall portfolio of evidence is pretty limited.

That is open to interpretation. I am certain we will be involved in other trades.

You may well be right about us being involved in other trades. But you are dead set wrong about the interview.

His exact words escape me but the gist was  Balic was the only player they are looking to trade in and are not looking at other trades. I remember it because i was surprised that he would be so clear about it, rather than saying something along the lines of:

'we are open to other trades, have some picks in hand now and but nothing has presented itself yet'

I'm talking more about depth players from other teams who we trade for that ultimately add nothing to our side.

If it's costing pick 46 or 65 in a seemingly weak draft what does it matter?

I'd say we've got a better chance at taking a punt on Harley than a kid at that pick.

I think we can assume that our FD think he might be ok.

Not sure if they are prepared to give personal guarantees.

It's like herding cats down at Geelong right now (pun very much intended).

There's too many moving parts until Motlop nominates a club, which is apparently going to happen tomorrow.

Is there trading on a Saturday?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
