Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

With all the huff and puff about urgently needing outside mids and speed on the forum, it doesnt seem that the list managers share the same sentiment? Esp with Saad about to go for a 2nd round and us never showing much interest.

Balic it appears has a bit of speed and Lever at hb must be about moving Hibbo or Hunt onto the wing if we play Frost and Omac back.

Sounds like the Cats will only get Pick 34 as compensation, which will not be enough for them to snare Watts, and I doubt it will help much in their pursuit of GAJ.

Quite nice to see them squirm a little bit to be honest.

Where did you hear that? Isn't Steve Hocking the new CEO of Football at the AFL?

One of the journos on twitter mentioned it.  His deal with Port is lesser than the one he would have gotten from the Crows, so it's highly likely they get a late second round compo instead of late in the first round.

Agreed, I think I read Adelaide offered more however he chose Port, perhaps the compensation would have been start of round 2 if he did go to Adelaide.

Maybe Port gives us 30, 34 and 35 for Watts? Don't think so though.

I get the feeling Jack prefers the Cats and they have told him to hang out and that is why he hasn't named his club.

This could then back us into a corner, if they can't do a fair deal and they spring it late in trade week.

I suppose the fall back position is he stays but clearly now both parties want to end the relationship.

Our boys need to be smart here. I have confidence in them.

Mentioned on sen that Motlop wants to go to P Adelaide.

So that means the cows lose a player they wanted to keep in Lever and can’t land another player they wanted to trade in being Motlop.

Ha ha ha ha ha.  All going swimmingly it seems.

My Friday just got better.

They might give you two of those but not all three. I think we would take two clearly, but it now depends on Jack nominating them.

The fact that he hasn't, makes me think he prefers the Cats.

Would have to think the way they have acted of late would've been a factor. Suck [censored]

I’m not overly confident in our boys Red. We changed our position in giving two first rounders for Lever so my fear is that we will fold and take whatever just to get rid of him which if it happens is a mistake imo.

Adelaide will come back to the field dramatically. Port still playing their cards. Next showdown'll be a blood bath. Entertaining ;)

Yeah I have no idea why Port are still in this and why many in the media are saying that Port are really after him.

I was under the impression that under no circumstances would he leave Melbourne.

They won't take just anything.

Bear in mind Jack is on about $1m over the next two years. That will also be freed up if he goes.

This is exactly what equality is about. A top team should lose talent due to cap pressure and have to try and develop elite talent for another 3 years. Eventually the future will catch up with em

From Twitter, (for which I make no claims. On the other hand, would make sense)

"Other the Lever and Balic, do the dees have any interest in further midfield/forward depth options, or are they likely to go to the draft?"

"They do, but cap will come into play. Hamstrung somewhat."

Is anyone else worried that we are hamstrung by cap space with so many good young players?

That is not correct.

Port are after him and if the Cats can't do a deal, he will go to Port.

Ill only start to worry if we dont win a premiership in the next two seasons. If we're in prelims and close, i doubt we'll see any poaching just yet. Maybe if we do a st k and never capitalize in a 3 or 4 year period, player/s may leave for mega deals.

Cats are, apparently, already saying that they want to hold on to the compo pick (which looks to be Pick 35) for Motlop.

I feel like they are just being arrogant here.  Watts might end up wanting to go to Geelong, and they might be in his ear about waiting it out so they don't part with a higher pick, but I'd rather see the club hold on to him than just flick him for something that doesn't reflect his value.  The relationship can be restored.

Agree. If we don't get value, he stays. It might mean we miss out on someone we are after and maybe the Cats are also and they are trying to block us, who knows.

I would push for Port and try and do a deal with them and tell Jack he is theirs, if he is happy with that.

Is Balic any good or will he just be another Michie/Newton/Kennedy/Riley?

Because I'm getting really sick of these type of players.

No, I have it on good authority that he's much more like a Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn or Ted RIchards type.

Sorry Clint, I'm not being very helpful. I guess the point I'm making is that you never really know with recycled players who've failed to make it with their original club. And if you did know, you'd be competing with a heap of other clubs and be paying a much higher price.

I like the way Balic moves. Michie, Newton, Riley were all solid footy players but no obvious elite attributes were apparent. Same could be said of Kennedy. Balic seems to have a few tricks. I'm intrigued by anyone who has the ability to buy themselves some time. Balic appears to have such moments. I don't think failing with the above quartet of recycled players is a reason to stop trying.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
