Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trade rumours

My mates from Perth had word last year that Fyfe wanted to come to the Dees, I was on here every 5 minutes last trade season hoping it would happen. Perhaps this year?

Why can't someone huge want to come instead of leave?

For every rumour that could break our hearts there has to be an opposite rumour that could give us hope

Fyfe recently signed on for 4 or 5 years with Freo.

Just saw his tweet. Claims that hogan unhappy with Watts trade. This is a circus now. Goodwin may end up losing the playing group.

If Hogan walks because of Watts being told he would be better served elsewhere, then he is a fool and a sook.  His job is not list management.  He can be unhappy for his friend, but still be a professional.

maybe we are landing Fyfe?

I posted something a while back in reference to a Max Gawn trade about Brian 'the whale' Roberts...

He was a very well liked player at the tiges when they moved him on to "better their list".

KB says it's one of the worst moves made in his time at the club...

You've got to be careful to not destabilise things when moving on a player who is part of the fabric of the club.

Watts is a very well liked player and seems to get on with everyone, players and supporters alike. He mightn't be everyones cup of tea as a player but he is part of the fabric of the club, a player who appears to bond the playing group off the field.

If I was a player at Melbourne I would be looking at this now and forgetting about all the carp Lewis and others have been taking about building a culture and taking unders, I would be looking after myself. I'm sure Connors will be reinforcing this with Petracca when the time comes.

So, Hogan has every right to look at his future if he doesn't like the way a mate is being treated.

We can talk professionalism in modern sport as much as we like but we are still dealing with people. It's still very much a people business.

Is it really worth rocking the boat for a 2nd round pick at best?

Goodwin is a gambler and I'm not sure this is a good punt. Will he end up Blight (a true visionary) or Neeld (another failed Melbourne coach)?

It's not only his coaching on the line here it's our club, our future and I know a lot of us have a lot on the line as supporters.

Time will tell but this is an uneasy time for me.

I did try to warn you guys a while back that I wouldn't be surprised. I did hear he was keen on a move back home. I don't believe it has anything to do with Watts but may be a cop out and excuse to say goodbye. At least my source was right. We hold the cards in both Lever and Hogan deals if they were to happen. If Jesse does leave, the Watts excuse is BS, hes going for his own reasons. I dont want him to leave but how can you not help a kid out that's been going through what he has?

I’d be annoyed as well if one of my mates and teammates was being booted out the door. Jesse is obviously close to Watts as he would be with other players, but it doesn’t make sense to me that you’d turn your back on the rest of your mates just because the club is booting out one player.

Opinion noted. I welcome the trade personally.

I like that trade CC, hope it goes through. I liked what i saw of Taberner in the last game against Essendon.

There is a tweet that Hogan met Fyfe on Tuesday and there is no detail in the tweet or article about the content of their discussion, length of ‘meeting’ or even the location.

The article states that Hogan is happy at Melbourne and has not given any indication that he wants to leave, it also states that he wants to play out his career at Melbourne.

The article states his manager has said he’s staying and Mahoney has said he’s not up for trade.

How is this a ‘huge development’???

Why are we even talking about this???

Yep. I think it’s BS but I’d want their 2017 first rounder, 2018 first rounder and balic. Hogan unlike lever is contracted and qualitykey forwards have a lot more trade value

perhaps the two picks, balic and Tabenar for hogan and pick 27

For starters Balic and Taberner are not regulars so they are in effect steak knives. IF you were thinking of it 5 and next years first pick are the non negotiables. Maybe there is another player you would have eyes on and then add the steak knives.

We are talking about a contracted player who we hope to be our future key forward for many years.

HOWEVER, if we know that he will leave in 2 years that does present a difficult and different scenario that we would have to deal with.

See my earlier post on whether we have someone in our sights who is a local who could possibly replace Jesse and then we have all the extras.

Lastly I would be worried IF this is happening that Lever is done first or Crows would want all of it.

PS. There is starting to have a smell here but think it is possibly just media. We will see.

PPS . I I love trade week for all the rubbish, gossip, rumours that are a good distraction from the mundane working week.

I remember last year someone reported a discussion they had with Jo Gutnick who told them that Nat Fyfe to Demons was conditional on J Watts leaving...

Maybe Nat is the one we’re gunning for..? ???

So this Fyfe-Hogan meeting is to give each other the keys to their respective houses?

The football version of The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz?

Footy needs to be more original...

Maybe Fyfe for Hogan makes sense if they both intended to go home eventually, so explore the possibility now right?

We hold the cards in the Watts trade - because he is contracted

We hold the cards in the potential Hogan trade - because he is contracted

We hold the cards in the Lever trade - because he is un-contracted & can go to the draft.

What a beautiful position to be in for once....

Relax, Hogan is over there negotiating the Watts trade.

If Hogan goes I will be severely disaffected no matter what the deal - not so much with the Club but with the way the AFL competition is going. It has now become a free for all where contracts mean nothing. I can understand how the Crows are feeling re Lever even though I think their response has been petty and juvenile. This all means the rich powerful clubs will prosper and God help everyone else.

This is a big rumour but maybe it was just two footballers having a coffee.

Dont take the number one off the jumpers just yet.

Exactly.

Have a quick flick through Instagram- players have dozens of ‘meetings’ with opposition players every offseason.

If my source is correct, Jesse went to Perth before Bali, he then flew from Bali to WA to meet with Fyfe, came back to Melb shortly after attended races over the weekend and is flying back to Perth this week to meet Lyon. Grain of salt as I dont know the guy personally but seems he was spot on. This is why I think using Watts is a cop out. May all be BS at EOD

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
