Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just heard from my old man who deals with a few clients who are close to Melbourne officials,  that Gawn could be on the move as we are looking to use him to secure Lever and retain our top picks to then get Gaff. They believe with the way the game is evolving that having that extra runner in the midfield in the form of Watts / Pedo / Tmac rotating in ruck we are less reliable on just winning hit outs and become more unpredictable.

Very complex deal, up to 4 clubs involved something along the lines of Gawn to GWS, their 1st rounder + 2nd rounder to Carlton, Gibbs to Adelaide, Lever to Melbourne. Our pick 10 for Gaff and looking to land another experienced player through free agency from Geelong, that's all I know (starting to think it's Motlop, wants a fresh start and would compliment as another outside runner and also to help support Jeffy and look to improve his forward line pressure)

Don't shoot the messenger. Cheers.

If Maxy was on the table to GWS.  I'd be wanting  Jeremy Cameron.

Gawn to GWS. >  Jeremy Cameron to Demons.

Yes Bin, that's ok, i can understand why people would agree with me in their own little ways, even though i probably say it different.

God I hate this time of year. So much crap talk.

Try viewing this thread the same way you'd view a tv show about aliens.

There are parts you'd say 'That'd be awesome!'

There are parts where you'd say 'That's absurd!'

In your heart of hearts, you probably know that everything you're see is complete fabrication and misunderstanding, but, depending on how bored you are, there are parts you choose to believe.

I do worry about the longevity of Gawn both with his knees and with his type of ruckman being made redundant by rules to protect more flexible players that will run off him and make him look slow and one dimensional...

It would be cold blooded if we move him on though...

Its not maxxy tap work that is his most important strength, its is contested marking, the team did not get much of that this year, when he is going for his marks he is too big and too strong to be out marked, watch last years win v the hawks the contested marks he took that day was against at lest 3 or 4 hawks players, only someone of his size  could take those marks.

.... should have been what Gawn said to Scully in China!  (which makes this hypothetical about Gawn to GWS slightly amusing!

Would love for us to chase Menzel, adds major x factor and class to our forward 50 and is a huge upgrade on Harmes.

And he is a free agent wouldn't cost us a pick.

Menzel strikes me as a very Melb style deal.  Dare I say it..a 'moneyball' style thing.  i.e  A good player ( maybe not a star but the other side of handy ) Someone who has enough years left in him to be a sound investment by us, as much as by him  in us !! ( if that makes sense )

Cats will offload a few. We missed out last time

Menzel is coming off 3 maybe 4 knee reco's, his best footy is behind him no matter what his age and Harmes is used as a defensive forward, a job Menzel is carp at...why he was dropped and the Cats want to trade him out.

Don't really know, just putting a few thoughts out there about how and where Footy is going and my doubts about how different clubs seem to able , for no NORMAL reason, arise from the depths of old age, and sub par bog standard. OK

Anyone heard of the "Whale" Roberts?

Richmond traded him out and KB says it's one of the worst decisions the club made in his time.

He was part of the fabric of the club, the players loved him and loved playing with him.

Now think Max Gawn and you might understand why anyone in their right mind wouldn't think of trading him.

Don't think it matters much anymore. Two players who have major knee operations featuring in possible trades.

Playing groups in old, old clubs playing like sixteen year olds, after a game that would make any other side prostate on the ground. Another team who have won one final in a thousand years with a Sheedy type snipability, as Flag be all to end all favorite.

Not forgetting the new TEN strikes and your out policy that comes in next season.

And still the MEDIA haven't got the guts to do anything....

On the cans early there, Willmoy?

How could his best footy be behind him if he is only 26 and has had 4 knee recos? He literally only just started his footy career 2 years ago and has kicked 40 goals this year.

His best footy was before he did his first knee, was a young gun.

He will never reach those heights again....has the footy smarts but not the flexibility and leg speed to make him better, also only one more big injury off finished.

We're better to look elsewhere, this ones not a good bet.

I trust the recruiting dept to recruit for our position in the cycle.

Not sure why we would suddenly consider moving away from recruiting absolute A graders to go with Viney,  Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw?

Lever fits the plan, but  how would taking packaged up "b & c "graders ( some have been suggested ,are under a cloud injury wise as well.) This doesn't make sense to me. We are not that far away

Other clubs aren't normally in the habit of getting rid of good players unless they have to. (Usually out of contract, salary cap pressures )

Reckon / hope Taylor sticks with the script that has seen us move up the ladder last two years.

P.S. If Lever is worth two first rounders on an offered salary of $300,000.00 , then Hogan simply must be worth more. than that.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
