Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Will vomit if North or the Saints land him.

I'd find it shocking if he turned down the crazy $$$ north are offering him. You see guys like jack Trengove having injuries ending careers early. I'd take the money and run. It's a job at the end of the day

Maybe, just maybe he (kelly)  is coming to the dees...never heard word of Lewis prior to it occurring... as a club  - we don't do loose lips anymore... Where there is smoke there is fire, isn't the best way of forecasting things in trade land...

Lever move has been kept pretty quiet.....

I doubt we'd get kelly even if we were chasing him. I'm only guessing but if he moves $$$ would have to be a major factor and i reckon a few clubs will be in front of us

Not impossible. It could happen but unlikely imo

Can you rephrase that OD, I have no idea what you are trying to say.

Sorry predictive text got me. A family friend working with Connors management who look after Josh Kelly was told that he hasn't signed with GWS yet because he is going to North Melbourne. Connors manages Kelly, Lever and Jack Watts. On another post Connors who is an Old Xaverian is quoted, at an Old Xavs function, that Lever is going to MFC and would be their highest paid player. My source spoke with one of Connors other player managers who stated Kelly to North.

The Whitfield to Hawks has legs but I have heard it was Poppy and others - including Duryea - they were looking to package up

FWIW it sounds like fan-made pipe dreaming, trading two-three B-graders for one A-grader

It doesn't happen in reality these days

Must be suffering from dwarfism, DA.

I read that Lever's manager is Ned Guy so I googled him and sure enough works for McDonaldSports and Lever is on their talent list:  http://mcdonaldsports.com.au/talent/adelaide/

Connors may be right about Lever coming to the dees, but he is not his manager.  So there is the possibility he doesn't know for sure.

One can only guess why Connors is talking about someone else's client at an Old Xavs function.  Maybe be he wanted to talk up Petracca's asking price next year or those of his other Demon clients.

Given Weideman's injury history prior to the draft and all the talk about the fact that he'd take time to get his body ready for AFL as well as the need for us to find another quality forward, do you really believe the club would be thinking about the possibility of a trade?

Tom McDonald played a few good games as a forward and it seems people now believe that Weed should be moved on? If I have learnt anything from my time at demonland it's that posters put way too much weight on a few good performances from individuals.

What we're doing with Weed is setting him up so that when he plays regular seniors, he'll be in a position to contribute and play at the level. Exactly what we should have done with Watts and countless other young players over the years.

All key forwards have different traits. I would say that Weed is very similar to the Josh Kennedy mould of forward and posters should go and have a look at how long it took him to stamp his name. 4 years.

Not every forward can come in and play like Hipwood, Hogan or Daniher. They have all have different qualities and attributes and were much further advanced from a conditioning perspective than Weed in their first years.

Weideman is tracking just fine. At VFL level, you're not getting the same quality entries as you are at AFL level. You're not going to have the opportunity to kick bags every week because of this. But he's shown he can indeed kick bags when the ball is coming in efficiently.

With another pre-season, some reshuffling and addressing of personnel further up the field, I can only see further improvement and contribution starting over the NAB challenge series.

I still firmly believe that Hogan needs be played at CHF and needs a mini reprogramming in what it looks like to lead at the ball rather than calling for it long constantly. He needs to give the kicker the chance to kick to advantage more often. Weed is the perfect full forward type. Not blessed with the same running ability as Hogan but is a much more natural forward mind and leads to the right spots and flies hard at the ball.

It's going to click eventually with the two of them and when it does it's going be scary for opposition sides.

Tom needs to become the great defender that he was supposed to become. He needs to majorly simplify things and get back to playing consistent, hard defensive footy with his mind solely on beating his opponent. Lever will help Tom enormously in that regard and it allows one of Oscar or Frost to become depth and continue to develop at VFL level like they should have been during much of this year.

best post I've read.

"but another quality small forward to assist Garlett will be high on the club's wish list." According to afl.com.au

Any rumours on this one?

An outside mid and a key back are the well documented needs, but I was thinking about this one the other day. We need some more pace to lock the ball inside 50. The job some of those little no names are doing at Richmond can't be underestimated.

We chopped and changed small/mid forwards every single week this year, so it doesn't shock me that the club think this is a need.

Slightly off topic, I was thinking about this the other day.

Did Richmond have some good fortune with their tall forwards going down with injury early in the year in Griffiths, Elton and was it Townsend the third one?

It forced Hardwick to play his smalls and looks like it has worked a treat.

Would we go for a small forward that's been in the system a few years or does Dion Johnstone get a crack early next year?

Whilst Richmond's structure changed as a result of injuries, it was their pressure across that park that has led to their success. It's too simplistic to say that if we plug in a couple of small forwards, we'll achieve the same success.

IMO, our issue is mindset, not structure or talent.

Let's just hope it's someone that could be categorised as 'dangerous around the goals' rather than 'experimenting to see where his best position is'

If a small forward , excitement machine is what we are looking for - Liam Ryan from WAFL club Subiaco is the go.

He won the league Goal kicking this year and had 3 out of 4 contenders for Mark of the year. If he can work on his defensive tackling then he would be a steel and would get the turnstyles ticking over

Don't think he can make it at the next level. Hasn't dealt well with close checking defenders.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
