Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jackson Trengove on way out of Port. Offered 3 years, wants 4 and will get 4.

We're one of a few clubs sniffing. plan B should we lose Lever from 10 goals up at 3 quarter time.

Do you know if Bernie or vandenBerg will get a new contract, is there any interest in Spencer ? Thanks for keeping us updated Chook

For those who can't get behind the pay wall here is a summary of Denham's story:

  • Mason Cox appears on the move north, where Brisbane have offered a four-year deal.

Out of interest I saw Cox having lunch with Pendlebury this week....They seemed on pretty good terms. Gee he's a tall unit. And so is Pendlebury actually...

Seems it's not very stable down there at the kennel. If Dahlhaus is looking to move, we should go hard for him. He's just turned 25, so good age bracket for us. Hard running quick midfielder who likes to kick and bobs up with goals regularly. He finds a decent amount of ball too, averaging mid 20s disposal-wise over the past 4 years. He'd be a good option to help balance our midfield, and comes with premiership experience. Has his name been mentioned in any other rumours? Kelly is not a realistic option, but Dahlhaus might be and would fit our needs perfectly IMO.

Not specifically but , Damian Barrett who also has good sources says:

'If Jake Stringer is the only Bulldog seeking a new home ...then... we'd be very surprised. As we said here last week, not a happy camp. Carnage everywhere, on and off the playing list'

Add that to Denham's 'watch this space' comment and it sounds like a few doggies may be gettable.

Other specific WB names thrown up have been: Cloak and Crameri (Bevo was ambivalent when asked about their contracts) and Stringer.  Reports this year that Liberatore has lifestyle issues and his preparation isn't up to par makes one wonder about where he might be next year.  T Boyd is also having a rough time and doesn't seem to be a coach or teammate fave but doubt they could offload him.

Being contracted isn't going to be an obstacle to trades across the AFL this year.

WB, Pies etc makes mfc look like the rock of Gibraltar for stability!  Nice to see other clubs in the wars for a change.

Pretty depressing plan B if thats all we've got cooking.

Unless you meant as a like for like Plan B as we plan to play Trengove down back.

I think Chook is just talking specifics with regard to the Lever situation.

The FD will be well aware of the the need for some more outside run and like all clubs needing some run and xfactor will be giving consideration to

Gaff

Whitfield

Mckenna

Stringer

Mckenzie

And others from left field

No you pay them out and try and find a player who can make your best 22.

I think it's situational. With Garland, I'd keep him on the list as depth (give his contract).

Any interest in Oscar McInerney? Won the B&F for the NEAFL Premiers Brisbane and looking at this quote from the NEAFL site, you'd have to think about it:

A mature-age rookie recruit from VFL club Casey, the 204cm McInerney averaged 25 hit outs and 14 disposals a game, and proved to be a dead-eye in front of the sticks, booting 24.4 for the season

This site suggests he's out of contract (not sure how) http://aflworld360.com/who-remains-un-signed-at-your-club-for-2018/

Does any of that surprise the regular Casey watchers? Is he a forward/ruck option? Long term Pedo replacement?

He was drafted as a rookie, they get 1 year contracts

I understand a number of the players have lifestyle issues.

Probably explains why Barrett says: 'not a happy camp...carnage on and off the field'...

...Those guys may be satisfied with their history making premiership and will know they will forever be immortalised in Bulldogs folklore...

People assume they will rise from the ashes and become a dynasty as Hawkes did post 2009.  But Beveridge will have his hands full getting that team back on track.

People forget the Dogs finished seventh. They played a fantastic September unquestionably but they weren't a great or dominant team during the year and the expectation on them this year was ridiculous.

The game style they play is incredibly taxing and they rode a wave of emotion last year. They also benefited from dubious umpiring about their throwing (resulting in a rule change/greater scrutiny) and it was the first year of the week break before the finals. This year teams will likely deal with that much better.

Probably got well ahead of themselves.

I've heard from a source within port that Wines will explore his options in Victoria at the end of 2018, depending on ports flag credentials. Interesting

I don't know who your source is but I have a family member who works as an assistant at port and that could not be further from the truth. Believe me I ask every time we catch up as I would love nothing more than for this to be the case.

Pressure of expectation seems to have opened up some fractures.

Some players not as happy with Bevo's style this year (perhaps he was a bit more Macca like with things not going as well this year).

I reckon Dahlhaus is a fantastic player, would love to have him. Think he'd compliment our midfield nicely. Evasive, quick, creative, goal kicker & competitive. Bit of an upgrade on B Kennedy. Wonder if 2nd R pick gets it done?

"A bit of an upgrade on Kennedy" would have to be the understatement of the year.

And second rounder? Seriously... :/

I guess we can get Stringer for pick 100 whilst we are at it.

How has his year been? I refuse to believe the Dogs would not do everything to keep him, he's one of their best players.

Are we talking about Stringer? Because that was sacasim... I see Stringer leaving to either Essendon or St Kilda for their first and maybe an exchange of later picks.

If there is trouble at the Dogs my one from left field would be McRae...

Not a rumour just an observation of the type of player who would fit nicely.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
