Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Flip Flop. No i don't think so

3 Weeks ago Jones was rubbish against Nought, today he played well. That's actually what happened.

You Satyr are as funny as Arnold J. Rimmer.

The selection of Wagner over Frost this week was just mind boggling.

The Lions are very tall and mobile and Tom Mc has trouble with a mobile tall prepared to work hard.

We needed Frost's height and pace badly.

I thought it was a terrible selection.

The Hogan and Pedders combo is lethal.

Too bad Pedders isnt 25, would love to have him go around another five years.

Pedersen is actually quite a smart footballer. I think it was Healy who said during the game that it's probably been the right coaching staff (as opposed to previous) who are behind his form.

Now for them to get the Weed up and about for next year because Pedo definitely ain't no spring chicken.

Our handball at all costs style needs to come under review, especially late in game when we have a lead and can potentially put oppositions teams to the sword.

I love Jetta, but late in the game we were streaming forward in the middle of the ground and he went for the handpass over the top which was turned over and resulted in a Brisbane goal.

You can't mark from a handpass, our players need to remember this.

I'm glad we won.  But that was nothing like an even game by 22 players.  At least 6 of our players had no impact at all.

It bodes well for improvement but not sustainable if we want to get some real finals action.

Hibberd was virtually our only really effective defender.  Jetta was ok today but Wagner and the Mcdonalds were poor.  Hopefully it is just a bad day and they all bounce back next week.  Along with Hannan, Garlett and Gawn.

Tommy Mac took a dominant Hipwood out of the game when he was moved onto him

Nothing was said about it in commentary, but it looked to me like Zorko popped Bernie fair on the chin when Bernie was on top of him.  After the game, Bernie was seen to be feeling his jaw like it was a bit tender.  Anyone else see the incident?

Looked like it was to the neck high none the less. Again Bernie gets punched right in front of an umpire and nothing is given.

We just need to avoid Sydney in the first week, that is crucial.

We just need to make finals, that is crucial.

We had the chance to make it so much easier for ourselves when the lead hit 32 points but we took the foot off the gas completely. Dinky kicks inside 50 (e.g. Hogan), turnovers across half back (e.g. Jetta) and we stopped working as hard as we did for the first 10 minutes of the quarter.

We played terribly for most of the game but we still won. Last year we lost this exact sort of game. Earlier in the year we lost these sorts of games. So it's good that we held on late. But I can't shake the disappointment of knowing that we had the chance to push our percentage up by a point or two and we let it slip.

Hogan and Pedersen worked brilliantly well together today. Garlett looks like he's building a bit of form. Jones was immense, Lewis was great again. They tagged Oliver (Mathieson) and Hunt (Rockliff) and it worked, both were quiet. I thought Melksham was excellent again, and Hibberd put another case forward for AA.

Stretch and Wagner were appalling and I'd drop both for Salem and either Watts or Frost (depending on match ups against Collingwood).

Oliver well held but Jones stepped up.

From the AFL website:

Nathan Jones finished with a game-high 12 score involvements for the Demons, and also had team-highs for disposals (32) and tackles (seven) in another important game from the senior Demon.

Oliver well held. Only 30 touched and 6 clearances. He's [censored]. Trade bait.

Brisbane has a very good midfield and Martin was excellent in the ruck (why did we let him go?!). They dominated the clearances for long periods of time but we were just a bit more polished when it counted.

Gees we love doing things the hard way tho. We switch off so easily it's embarrassing. Finals will destroy us if we do not fix that quick smart.

Hogan and Pedo were immense. Won us the game. Hibbo not far behind.

Now for Richmond to turn on that special Richmond loser mentality and drop the next 2 games so we can play them in week 1 of the finals ?

Gald we should make finals BUT on recent form we'll be makong up the numbers only.

Having said that Viney, Watts and Frost and Salem all to come back with a bit more hunger should give us the class we've been lacking.

Also cheers to Hogan. Have been sick of people saying hes a 2-3 goal forward.

Unconvincing, but we have enough good players capable of getting into good form by finals that we could be a threat.

Hogan was huge today, especially in the first half. We could have been down without him, and really pushing it uphill.

Yeah the performances are mirrored really. Outplayed but this time got enough to get it done.

Not happy Bernie.

We effectictively start 1 goal down if he kicks out .

How many times does he have to chip it too the opp.

The umpiring was putrid.

Tom Mac was rank first half.

I'm convinced the umpire are instructed to make games closer by paying stupid weak frees that represent their lame souls and evil manipulative characters.

Worst game in a while

that's the real question

We have been just average for the last 5-6 weeks. A good  quarter here and there but we need some across the ground improvement by the team.

Obviously with an in form Gawn we are such a better side.

A good win against an improving team .

kicking errors late were frustrating but alot of highlights-  great to see Jesse keeping it simple  and he makes it look easy sometimes what a talent .

bernie you legend and Petracca and Pederson keep it up!

Im hopefull we finish at 8th to avoid playing swans and play the tigers in the elimination final.

I missed the game and Collingwoods first half v Geelong, and only read post-match. The finals talk is a bit concerning as WCE v Adel may be a dead rubber still for the Crows. Are the Pies actually in better form if they play the way they did against Geelong? Or was it a Geelong issue? Should we be concerned here? Is it the elephant in the room atm?

I know some responses will be: If we cant beat pies then we don't deserve to be in the finals, but i disagree. Coll can beat anyone on any day if they play at their peak (As can we) - And a team that lost to them, could bounce back and win a premiership.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
