Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 22

Reckon it should be:

Hogan in for Weid

Maynard in for Viney

Let Viney get right for finals. Maynard can replace him for a week to just smash in at stoppages. Let Jesse build form for finals.

How is this possible....   I know nothing about collarbones but it seems pretty incredible.

It's a miraculous recovery. I can reCall the initial prognosis being 426 because it was fractured in 'multiple' areas.

Depends on how bad the intial fracture was, for the average mug a collarbone injury can heal within 5 weeks. Maybe Jesse's wasnt as bad as first though.

Its hard to see the Weed playing now.

Wow, even Missons report yesterday said 2-3 I think for Jesse. Very interesting selection.

If he's playing with a bit of pain but minimal chance of re-injury I don't mind it as he will need run in his legs for finals but I'm still not sure the point of risking him.

Put a line through Ben Ken, he won't be part of our finals team or on the list next year. The football department seems to have moved on.

Might just be Hogan in for Viney. We played very small last week and might change back.

Its amazing to think not too long ago people were calling for Pedos head and now he's possibly a key player for us leading into finals!! How the times can change

Not a fan of Hogan returning this week as it doesn't seem to gel with the mantra that Goodwin has maintained most of the year in that forwards must be prepared to defend aggressivly. I may be the only one that thinks it, but I have been pretty frustrated at Hogans lack of second efforts, continual playing for frees and one dimensional approach to his role.

Not to mention the injury which surely can't be ready to go yet!

I'm a bit uneasy about Jesse returning so quickly but at the end of the day we've got to trust our medical staff. If they say he's right then so be it. I'd just hate for him to re-injure his shoulder.

I'm comfortable with us giving Viney a rest, he returned so quickly and proved pivotal against Port. Now that Jones is back he can have a rest and let Jones go back to inspiring the troops.

My thoughts are that the bench will be: Brayshaw, Stretch, Hannan, Wagner

Weids may be an emergency in case Hogan doesn't quite get up. But given they've named Hogan on the field you'd think he's playing. I'm not sure what to expect from him, he's had a terrible year personally and emotionally and he really hasn't been able to string some form together. But who knows, if he's able to get some match fitness and we make the finals, he could become he ace up our sleeve.

Lin Jong did it last year and destroyed Casey in the VFL Grand Final, its crazy what those inserted plates can achieve

Jesse hasn't joined full training yet has he? From that video yesterday he looked very tentative.

My guess he won't get through training tomorrow fully and will be a late out.

Maynard for Viney

List came in, Hogan is in - so let's get behind them! Having said that, my concern with Hogan was that he doesn't appear to have adopted the 'everyone gets a lick of the ice cream' concept fully just yet. He will in time, amazing that he was able to come back so quickly!!! Go Dees!!!

For me;

IN- Hogan, Stretch

OUT- Weideman, Viney

Stretch will come in for his outside run and tackling pressure. His game is more balanced with kick/handball ratio also. Can break the lines.

Hogan for Weid is an obvious one.

The only other change I could possibly see is Maynard for Wagner.

This is definitely a danger game for us.  Bob Murphy was asked on SEN which teams out of finals contention has he been impressed with recently and he said Brisbane.  Game is won in the midfield and any team starting S.Martin, D.Beams, Rockliff and Zorko has to be taken very seriously.  The bookmaker odds on this game are way out of whack.

I threw some money on the lions at $5.35 last night. just a consolation prize if old melbourne turns up

Jeez having Viney out for this one hurts. Even though he wasn't as effective last week, his inside work to win the ball in close and wrestle his way to releasing the ball for the next clearance was crucial throughout the game. If they tag Oliver it will be interesting to see who plays that role.

I actually think Kennedy will play. I think we'll be looking for some pace with some of our younger quicker players tiring of late (eg Hunt). They can use him for some outside run, his inside work at Casey has been pretty good and we know he can be used as a crumbing forward pretty effectively. Will be interesting to see if they roll the dice with him.

Stretch would be the most reliable of the three that could come in for Viney. Generally uses the ball well and gets into the right positions. I think thats where we will need to be better then Brisbane on Sunday with our composure and keeping structure.

Viney out according to 7. Not good but hopefully just a freshen up.

Best time for a Viney rest. He needs to come back breathing fire for the Collingwood clash which is also the Buckley Pi&@ off !!!  game.

Viney out is worrying. There are many injuries you can play through or work around (see Hogan), but not foot injuries.

Hasn't he been playing through and working around his foot injury? Misson stated that he can't do further damage. It's just about managing the pain. I think he will definitely be playing against the Pies and/or finals.

Good to see Hogan back. Given the conservative nature of the treatment of injuries that MFC have displayed throughout the season I have confidence that they will know what to do. If he gets up for Sunday then Weid will not play.

With Hogan in the team I would have Brayshaw, Hannan, Wagner and Maynard

It will be awesome if he plays.

Could be a great AFL story if he and Gus rip the finals apart.

Last time it was reported someone looked tentative coming back Viney lit up the first half v Port.

Let the trend continue!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
