Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Umpiring of MFC games very questionable

8-0 in the third when the game was on the line.

Bunch of dinky ones in junk time to us after we had already taken a mark or taken advantage to even up the numbers.

Against North it was 8-0 against in the final quarter. We lost the game by 4pts.

I think they said he was shepherding Membrey even though he was busy duelling with another player.

It started St Kilda's run and gave them momentum.

No i don't think so because it was Billings that took the free. I think it was paid for front on contact to Billings. Appalling decision in any case.

We were [censored] over by the umpires today. When your team misses out an obvious free kick and then a not so obvious one or blatantly wrong decision goes the other way, the crows gets angry and vocal.

The further it goes against you the more feral the crowd get.

We got done hard by the umpires today and we were still good enough to win.

There are bad decisions and bad non-decisions flying around left, right and centre, but if you think there is anything more sinister going on than a lot of grey area rules being inconsistently applied, you are a screw loose.

We copped the rough end of it in the 3rd quarter, no doubt, and probably also in other games as well, but if you could take a step back, you would probably see we get a good run every now and then as well, Queens Birthday comes to mind.

And that would explain why it is roughly equal in the frees for and against over the course of the season.

No need to get personal, umpiring is deliberately evened up during games, makes you wonder why games have been so close all year..... oh yeah, that's equalisation.. give me a break. In QB game, Treloar wasn't pinged about 3 times in last few minutes from memory. WCE we got a very good run

2017 numbers: 382 frees for, 384 frees against.

Do you honestly think there's a deliberate biased against the club, or that umpiring is inconsistent and, as supporters, we remember the ones that go against us...

The issue is not now ,nor has it ever been about totals for or against. That's a furphy. It's about paying frees where they are warranted to us or to the opposition in accordance with the rules of the game. That's what the ordinary supporter wants but almost never gets. Fans are confused, players are perplexed and the umpires are on a hiding to nothing every single week. Umpires are needed, but we can't be forced to " respect " them for what they serve up each week. And frankly, the AFL is primarily at fault because they are preventing an impartial performance by their most important employees. No wonder people are upset. I have just been messaged by a St Kilda supporting colleague who claimed the Saints were dudded again by the umps. I was at the game and seriously, that is nonsense.

I'd forgotten about that Jetta one, WTF was that even for?

It was actually paid for the St Kilda player falling across his team mate and impeding him. Jetta was just the meat in the sandwich.

Fair call, harsh on my part, apologies.

But back on topic, I think there are just so many grey areas, and so many 50-50's, that it is easy to think you are always getting the rough end of it, but in reality, it is really just a case of a messy set of rules and umpires not being able to consistently apply those rules. There is clearly nothing sinister going on.

I bet if you went and asked baked on supporters of the other 17 clubs, there would be some who would share the same view as you, and obviously, we can't all be getting the rough end of it.

It is Nicholls and Razor who I'm suspicious about mostly, it's just so blatantly obvious when they umpire our games. Agree re other 17 clubs but that's also my point of umps deliberately evening up the games rather than actually paying the right frees. The whole bloody league needs a clean up from umps to MRP.

If you seriously think there is nothing dodgy about the umpiring then you have not been attending too many games.

At 3/4 time today it was 11:18 against us despite the fact we had been leading all day. While the Saints clearly "won" the 3rd quarter that was on the back of bewildering decisions at centre bounces.

Final stats were 20:20 - Razor and his mates clearly set out to even up the stats in the last term once we were on top. Were they biased? I don't know but they were clearly intent on fixing the stats/

IS not the number of free kicks, its where they are either paid or missed.  Missed in front of our goal or given in front of the oppositions goals.  those have the greatest impact on a game. For example the one against jetta today, not much in it but gave a shot on goal at an important time.  Either way we have no control over it.

One my friends that sits with us has one of those umpire radios, and she heard razor ray saying to Trac I'm watching you.

Once was bad enough but he said it again to Trac, would be the last player to any thing nasty to any one, so it came as a shock to all of us who were there.

You can get umpire radios?

Shorty killed us today. Baldy always kills us. Are they Razor and Nicholls?

Yep Tiny Ray and that bald Nichols guy who looks like a cross between a murderer and a clown, always screw us.

If that turd Ray could bounce a footy Max would not be needing to protect himself from getting kneed in the head, hence no frees.

Razor Ray pays way too many tiggy touchwood free kicks, as if he is saying look at me I'm the star and I'm controlling the game. At one stage it almost looked as if he was trying to get Stkilda back in the game.

It also seems sometimes that the umps have a dislike for Max Gawn, where the slightest contact seems to warrant a free kick against him.

It says it all when Pederson puts his hand over his fellow player's mouth to not draw another penalty, doesn't it?

Why would Maggots deliberately try to even up the count at the end of just about every game unless they were told to by AFL?

A topic i admire at last..........

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
