Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's really not that cut and dried for us. A loss today for the Saints will bury them but we can still make it on %. 8th is most likely going to have 12 wins if we lose today - the saints will need to beat the Tigers in the final round to get 13 and the dogs will need to beat Port next week.

We've passed the bombers on % after last night. A narrow loss today and we will get over them on % if we win the last 2.

Only if our cumulative winning margin against the Lions and the Pies (plus making up whatever the losing margin to the Saints is) is greater than their winning margin over Gold coast at Metricon and Freo at Etihad.

The reality is that if we don't win today, we don't deserve to make finals.   And it's well overdue for this football club to control its own destiny without the need to be relying on results from others.

I'm taking my son to his first ever game today, and it will be the first time 3 generations in my family have watched the demons since my grandfathers passing in 1996.

This will be a memorable moment for me as a father to continue the family tradition of being a Demons man.

I have faith the dees will get it done today. I hope to look back on this day and enjoy the memory of teaching my son how to sing a grand ol flag.

Carn the f'ing demons!

im taking my wife for the 1st time as well and share the same faith. Cmon dees unleash yourselves!

Reasonable point mate. It's probably more likely that dogs lose to Port next week and we get over them on %.

Great stuff mate.

Ive had the old man come up from Colac last night to join me today at the G.

We're both feeling pretty dusty right now following a few too many froffs so a Demons win before flying back to Perf will be most welcome.

Unfortunately, I'm not feeling all that confident.

So nervous for this game, and to make matters worse, I've got to take my 7 year old son to a birthday party out in the middle of nowhere. Hoping there is 3 or 4G reception there because if I can't at least check the scores I'm going to go mad.

So much riding on this game. Come on Melbourne!

Just do the drop and run, Nash. ?

Up early ET?

Would've been nice if the Bloos got up last night

Haven't been to bed yet. It would have been nice,  apart from increasing our chances of making the 8, WC making the finals would be a complete bore.

He will thank me soon enough. He is only 2, and by the time he understands the game our premiership window will be open. Maybe he can avoid wandering the earth without seeing a flag like many of us on here.

Hope you are right, my daughter left for Essendrug and GD is already talking the Cats.

cannot blame my daughter we were a rabble for all of formative years and the other lot were winning flags.

Don't know what to expect hoping for a win but ever since the north loss I just can't take this club seriously, so we will see how it pans out at 4pm

There is a great interview with Jack Viney in todays Sunday Age.  he refers to the blustery conditions in Hobart, and the unbelievable wind at Canberra last week. I went to that game and it was downright unplayable at times.

The point Jack made was they didn't adjust and handle the conditions.  Having seen them beat Adelaide and West Coast Away , this team has the ability for sure and back on the 'G' today on good conditions I reckon leadership of Nathan Jones and Jack Viney (and Lewis) will get them there and be the defining factor.

The stats of the last 4 weeks, when not playing under the roof and in sub-artic conditions render the stats for this period meaningless. The swans game doesn't look so bad either in hindsight.

A win by 24.

Probably the calmest I've been before a game for a while. Not because I think we'll win but because after the North loss I decided that using my energy is a waste and I'm just setting myself up for a ruined weekend.

If we win it's a bonus. If we lose it can't be any worse than what we've had to put up with the last decade. That's the way I look at it. I'm sicking of holding the club to account and to see if they'll pass my "tests". It's not worth the energy.

It's also not worth the expense of replacing the remote control.

Whatever happens today, I think it's fair comment that come the end of the game, Simon Goodwin can say, "I did it my way".

Hopefully WJ "the end is near" for our finals drought rather than our 2017 season

Feel a bit the same way, sick of having my heart ripped out.,but still, while there is a pulse, life goes on and the spirit that is entrenched in me seems to dominate any rational thinking.

I don't recall feeling as nervous before a game since the mid 90's when we were relevant.

I hope we win and are propelled towards finals. In saying that I feel this year really is a stepping stone to next year and a massive push for those illusive finals.

That's ill use of "elusive"

I think I know how cards feels, like me I think he feels ill at the thought of the next three weeks. Sadly I think we are going to see what was a real chance to play finals slip away. Still situation normal I guess.

where are the goals going to come from? I'm worried we won't be able to kick a big enough score. will need to break 100 IMO.

According to a previous poster, our top three goal scorers are playing today. Could come from them.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
