Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Too kind for my liking. The final Bulldogs score is far more accurate.

I was my understanding the raised foot in a marking situation was permitted so the person going for the mark with their arms raised could protect their body. Raised foot or leg but not a kick. It could be argued that Greene's was a handball receive not a marking attempt and he wasn't under any excessive physical danger that would justify raising his foot to head height. To me it looked like he wanted to disable the opponent's ability to tackle and the foot impact was intentional, almost a kicking action.

I swear it was a "rule of the week" a while back (I mean 10 years or more ago) when an Essendon player was called out for continually doing it - may have been Dustin Fletcher though can't be sure. After a while it was just forgotten though and now players get away with it all the time. Players shouldn't be able to stick their foot out like that but the AFL let's them get away with it so to suspend Greene would be ridiculous.

Tonight's result now makes it highly unlikely we'll be playing in Melbourne week 1 finals if we make it.

That should be just fine for any Demon supporter.

Who cares where we play as long as we get in.

Gives us a better chance of actually making finals though

Exactly, could not give a fig if we played on the bloody moon! We haven't played finals in over a decade and it's crucial to our young list's development that we experience a finals match this year, regardless of where it happens.

In fact, isn't our away record just as good as our home record this year? We hold no fears playing interstate yet regularly forget to turn up at home.

I hate Greene. Obviously deranged person.

Is Stringer the most overrated player in the AFL? The Package !!!  FFS !!!

The commentary was appalling. Especially  McAveney ... his demented growls "the Bont" are just pathetic. Hopefully it's his last season.

Geelong one win out of three is possible. They play tiges and gws and if Sydney win all three we could play the cats.

Crazy season plenty to play out

He has really fallen away from his form of a few seasons ago.

He was average last year too, even got dropped at one stage if i recall correctly.

Ahh, Tim, the moral crusader... As long as it doesn't have anything to do with his own club.

What a sad, little man.

Worse, using his media platform to defend those who used his son like a guinea pig in a pharmacological experiment. Father of the year type stuff, that.

Dogs big loss puts the whole situation in perspective. Five teams now- Essendon, Dogs, St Kilda, West Coast, and the might unstoppable heroic ad worthy Demons.

In effect they are all on the same starting line and whichever two have the best results of their remaining games, they will be in finals.

As for the structure of the 8, it wouldn't be so bad to play a wobbly Port, then come home for a semi-final against Richmond at the 'G.

Of course, that's assuming Richmond don't implode when it counts, as they so love to do. In which case we'd be a shot to play a magical elimination final in an effort to make it 4 from 4 lost elimination finals under Hardwick.

Geelong 0 wins from 3 is also possible! Imagine if they lose Danger, they would not win another game. Tiges should have them covered this week!

Quote of the night from Taylor (mind you) re Shaw, making a great coach, as "being one of the game's great thinkers and tacticians".

Right up there with D Trump's "greatest stupidity" statements.

How the hell does Footscray do it?

20 frees to 11, despite 10% less disposals.

The umpires were clearly influenced by a crowd containing only one side's supporters( as in Perth).

It was disgraceful the way every 50:50 went to the Dogs, and they could tackle wherever they liked, and hold the ball all day.

It won them the 2016 GF, and it's been going on for years.

Unfortunately the Demons rarely have a stadium with no opposition supporters, even with Sydney and Brisbane on the MCG.

Want to get in   But,   do not want to get in because others played poorly,   I want the Dees in the 8  because we played well,

If / when we get in   I Want a side that has a red hot go,   don't care if we might lose a final,  but to be out there as training cones would be a real insult,  come on Dees  prove the earlier result against the sainters  was not an aberration, but the insight to the next few years

Nothing wrong with Greene's 'indiscretion'.

It's not his fault the player is one of the shortest in the league who was in a squat position.  Anyone else and it would have been to the chest.

He is being maligned for his past.  The umpires missed a heap of free kicks to him then report him based on crowd hysteria.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
