Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thanks coach

I know you're JW's greatest fan Jumbo but ...

Melon has made the effort to get out to the Casey game in person - did you?  He does so regularly and writes insightful reports which we appreciate.

Either give us YOUR first hand review or pull your head in.

If I told you I attended, would it matter?

JW did enough footy smarts to warrant a call up next week

Can you ask the Watts' haters to 'pull their head in'? Or, better still, get their head out of their arse....

Big wrap from Plapp for Salem, Watts, Keilty, Kennedy, Trengove.  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-08-13/casey-wins-comfortably-over-blues

On Salem: "used his elite foot skills to hurt the opposition. The poised 22-year-old had time with ball in hand and was an excellent addition to the side with 29 disposals through the middle. “He certainly showed what his assets are,”

On Salem and Watts:

  • “I think the things around what we wanted to see from them  was certainly a significant improvement to what they had been delivering at AFL level,” Plapp said.
  • “I don’t think we could have asked for too much more from them.
  • “They’re both quality players and they embraced what the VFL program is about, so full credit to both of those boys.

@jumbo returns  I just read your post and going on Plapp's comments there is a fair chance will get a call up next week!

On Keilty:

  • “He was extraordinary,” Plapp said.
  • “He’s improving and finding his way and today was a big step forward.
  • “I thought the aerial part of his game was a really big highlight.”

Shame that Salem was reported.  Unfortunately Liam Sumner suffered concussion and did not come back on.  I haven't seen the incident (anyone have video?) but knowing how Carlton doctor's have upped the ante for every opp player before the MRP this year, I have grave concerns for the penalty that will be dished out to Salem.

Sounds like Keilty is really coming a long and sounds like an awesome intercept mark. Would love to see him in the seniors.

I have to admit I am very surprised by all of the Salem talk on this thread, I didn't see him get reported and the incident where Sumner was injured I thought wasn't even a free kick at the time. You don't have replays and I didn't have the best angle but I think he will be fine from my view, just a very solid bump..

On the rest of the game, Casey dominated the contest in the first half over a very poor blues team.  I was fairly disappointed with the second half thou,  they stopped and limped over the line with the Blues dominating the contested ball.  Luckily for Casey the Blues were very wasteful at goal and Declan Kielty was on fire as the final margin should have been a lot closer.

Watts didn't do enough from my view, another week in the VFL.

Beat them easily bad kicking for goal is bad football missing goals is the same as not hitting targets, both are turnovers, did they miss set shots or were their behinds on the run, high pressure courses  hurried  shots at goal, we only lost the third qtr won the last.

Was he for sure?  There seems to be a bit of speculation on the changes thread as to whether he was or not.

Keilty must have played very well and showed some promise. Got a mention in Goodies after game presser. Very unusual to mention players untried at the AFL level.

So looks like he has a 'sniff at it' if he goes hell for leather over the pre season and of course the remaining VFL games this year.

BLUE ON BLUES by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons all but booked their berth in the Peter Jackson VFL finals series for 2017 and kept their top four aspirations well and truly alive with an emphatic 37-point victory over the Northern Blues at Casey Fields.

On a blustery wind affected day, the Demons were quick out of the blocks and virtually sealed the game with five goals to a couple of points in the opening term.

They continued to dominate in the second and at one stage had kicked the game's opening seven goals. By half time they held a commanding 46 point lead at half time. The Demons tapered off after half time as the Blues rallied in the third quarter but they remained well in control of the match right until the final siren thanks in part to the visitors' poor kicking for goal.

Casey's tenth win for the season must have been highly satisfying for senior coach Justin Plapp after starting the season with only one win in the first five games before winning nine of the next 11. The victory was even  more meritorious because it was set up by the goal kicking exploits of two dangerous forwards in Casey-listers Bayley Fritsch and Yilber Zijai who, between them, booted seven goals and they way in which the young VFL players have blended in with the AFL contingent is a credit to his coaching. On Saturday he also got good service from Mitch Gent and Ben Giobbi, both more mature players who help make it all work.

This was just as well because Plapp only had ten Melbourne list members at his disposal with Sam Frost and Corey Maynard held over for the game against St Kilda. One of his best was a player who started as a Casey player before his drafting to the Melbourne Football Club. Declan Keilty's season to date has not been as good as last year but his form has been building lately and against the Blues he was in outstanding form as the intercepting defender picking up 22 disposals and taking 11 marks. He was capably backed up in defence by Jack Trengove who had 31 touches for the day.

Plapp also had some potency in the midfield with Ben Kennedy, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Billy Stretch and Christian Salem whose outstanding form was overshadowed by a clash with the Blues' Liam Sumner that saw his name entered in the report book. The Blues' player left the ground with concussion.

With injuries mounting the Demons simply cannot afford to lose more players, especially with a big game coming up against top-of-the-ladder Williamstown.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
