Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Marc Murphy

Speaking of which, was that Carey rumour BS? I'd actually rate Murphy ahead of Jones as he can win games for the Blues off his own boat. Hurn is the worst. Anyway, not trying to offend anyone and hard to explain in text but I'm sure people understand where I'm coming from.

I hear you. I'd love him to be tougher. But we can't all be Chris Judd. He had skills and was hard. But Watts goes in when he needs to? Hence his 5 contested possessions Queen's birthday. Why didnt they drop him after Queen's birthday? His attack on the ball was the same that day as it was against gws. He's only ever been as good as his midfield supply.

We're blinded by our need to be tough. These so called 'non-negotiables'. Why can't kicking be a non-negotiable?

Watts' 'non-negotiable' should be his skills and going in when he has to.

If we're lamenting lack of intensity,  put the heat on the 'intense' players. Not the silky one playing deep forward!

I wish all the players playing 2moro had Jack's kicking skills.

Watts creates a lot of angst @ Demonland. He is one of our most skilled players, doesn't contest hard enough, but if he brought his efforts rounds 3-12 he would still be in the team.

Can't see how Pedo or Weed get picked ahead of him, Jeff G will certainly miss Watts, as he regularly feeds the ball to Jeffy!

Agree with a number of contributors who can't understand how we are favourites vs Saints looking at our recent form, Riewoldt & Montagna have both often hurt us in the past. The Dees have surprised in a few games this season, where odds have been against us, so here's hoping for a win!

Pedo has barely imposed himself lately & still gets a gig, go figure

Interesting ( to me ) both  Salem and Watts have struggled since "recovering" from injuries.. Neither quite their former selves.

Chunk is nowhere near his self either.  Would Goody drop him as well ?

I'm not making excuses for anyone but Id like to know the reason that is causing this.

Jones just bombed the ball back 2 the opposition & escapes criticism

No, I can't have this.

Jones often gets this "butchered the ball" criticism.

However, two factors need be considered.

One he has usually ohas the ball in pressured circumstances.

Two he is always prepared to take the game on. His turnovers ( yes he is guilty on occasion) come as a result of either trying to create an opportunity or being too quick thinking for his teammates.

Y can't he look up & c if there is a better shorter option just occasionally

Fair enough deever. It's just that I'm a bit sensitive of any criticism of Jones.

As far as I'm concerned he's carried this club for years and is beyond reproach.

Each player is only as good as his last game, form can drop quickly & nobody is immune nor should players be given indefinite chances 2 find it or forfeit their spot 2 someone who is in form. The club is bigger than the individual.

How to beat the Saints

1- Max Gawn needs to dominate

2- stop Tim Membrey. He destroyed us last year.

3- Petracca and Garlett need to get involved. Need 5-6 goals from these guys.

4- stop Jack Steven. He runs runs runs and is their star midfielder

Pressure - we need a heap of intensity around the ball. They aren't a massively physical side so we need to hit them hard BUT intelligently. They will run off us and handball and link up if we get sucked in too much.

We need to pressure them with the ball and then spread and run as soon as we get the ball back and KICK THE BLOODY BALL. (Fewer handballs please)

Round 1, the Saints came at us with a massive level of intensity. We weathered it to a degree and then lifted our own, as well as becoming more daring in our ball movement. Goodwin is setting up for a repeat. If the players back the coach we'll get the same result.

Bye bye finals!  No Jack Watts to lift and turn on his best. No one now to produce the necessary goals and goal assists that we need. Bad call Goody, you have just committed football suicide.

Sorry to pick on you Bobby, I remember this post giving me a good laugh the other day and had to bump it.

A good reminder to anyone who thinks Watts is vital to any success we have.

I feel like we've played our best footy when we have to lower our eyes - with a smaller forward line we will have no option but to do this.  I'm confident we can kick a winning score with the players we have.

On Watts - he is no different to Frost or Salem.  If you don't bring the intensity required, then you miss out.  Simple.  I know Salem and Watts are two of our best users of the footy, but they can't do much for us if they aren't getting their hands on it enough.  I like the message Goodwin is sending.

Wiseblood your are right on . Small got it done today man great call

So underwhelmed by these ins. Brayshaw back too early, Weideman not ready, Wagner not up to it. Hannan deserves his spot but was very quiet in his last outing.

Nervous about the selected side's ability to move the ball effectively and especially the ability to score if Tom McDonald has to go back to cover Frost.

Good thing this peanut isn't a selector.

I did notice you tipped us to lose by 5.

Funny how we all notice mistakes Fifty-5?

did you notice my comment that I could not pick my nose?

claimed two wins for zero the two previous weeks than a loss.

Should I tip the Lions next week?

NO!!  The law of averages says that you have to get it right eventually, and I'd hate it to be this week.  Sunday must be a percentage building game to ensure we can't drop out of the 8 if we lose against the Pies.

No danger of that happening Hardtack. I think we have their measure and if we do not win then we truly do not deserve to be playing finals.

At the start of the season I thought we would win 13 games.

Alone the way we have dropped a couple I thought we would win and won a couple I thought we would lose. It is looking like 13 will be hopefully be the number and that will mean a good year in my view considering where we have come from since 2013.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
