I think that's what it comes down to, no matter what people seem to have the bar set higher for Watts. Admittedly him being dropped at this point in his career isn't a great look, but I feel like he's been made an example of (and not for the first time either). As I said before, this could prove to be perfect timing as he may be able to find his mojo should we make the finals (I'm not counting out chickens just yet!).

Been an average player for years.

Never reached his expected potential that we had placed on him. Does/did enough to hold his place in the team in years gone by but hasn't stepped up and others are going past him.Rightfully dropped,and I'm afraid there's no form to be regained.  It is what it is and he will take Pedo' s place and be a depth player if he doesn't retire prematurely.

JW is an important part of club but isn't it great that we have players pushing him out of our best 22. Right now, Pedo is clearly ahead of him and if he continues to play well will keep Watts out of the team.

I have no issues with that. The club is going in the right direction. 

Even if someone like Gawn has 2 or 3 stinkers in a row and Spencer is doing well, then he should be replaced!

Picket's comment "...when he dominates the competition!" is what we've all been waiting and hoping for, for years now. But while he's had some great moments and can be awesome he's yet to "dominate the competition!".

If it takes Jack being moved to another club for him to extract the 'midget' and consistently get the best out of himself, then that sad for us but maybe what he's should do. I think we'd all love to see Jack in full flight.

 I'm astonished that Hogan is back so early but him being back will help with Jack's return to the side.  I'd expect to see Watts back for the Pies encounter - 2 weeks out should do the trick.  We need his assists and finishing skills.

His value is apparent when we can find a role for him where he isn't a focal point or the focal point.  Many players excel or can excel when their role suits their football acumen.  Jack is one of those players. 

Anyway, he's been given another rocket by the coach and it had the desired effect last time (leading into the start of this season)  Let's hope history repeats.

I reckon he has stuff to work on, much like 97% of the players in the competition.

He was awesome prior to his injury, but hasn't recaptured that form following his injury.

We need to win every game and can't afford to carry out of form players. Watts is out of form.

At his best, he's a match winner, he's mercurial, and he's a required player.

BUT a lot of posters here are intent on plugging him at every opportunity. Nothing knew - all cliched and repetitious stuff.

I will give this bloke the biggest cheer if and win we ever win the flag and he gets presented with a GF medallion.

Would be a strange thing for you to be keeping count of but I know what you're getting at. Hogan has had the same thing happen to him at times as well. 

Watts when he's on does A LOT of work off the ball that goes unrecognised by both his teammates and fans. 

I'm backing him to be back for the Pies game.

Hopefully he is back for the Pies game in round 23. We would've lost that game against them earlier and a few others without him this year. Before he got injured he was in our best 5-10 players for the season. If he can find form again after his injury then our chances this finals series improve. He is a proven match winner.

If he doesn't get another gig this year then it's in his best interests to ask for a trade to a club that will appreciate his talents more. He deserves it after the amount of crap he's had to endure over the years. If we ever win a flag and he is at the club, he will get the biggest cheer of all our players from me. He's had to work harder and had it tougher than anyone at the club the past 10 years.

He was in poor form and lacked the intensity that the team is expected to carry out as a whole. So he goes back to Casey to recapture it and hopefully comes back fit and firing by finals time. It really is as simple as that.

All the talks of his football career at Melbourne being over or should be over is just crap. The whipping boy isn't ever going to be a consistent star forward. He is a third forward whose best football is really valuable and the club has invested in him to keep working on his intensity because he does so much well when he is in form. Too valuable to trade.

Roos said on League Teams this week exactly what FD says here above. He is simply lacking the intensity. Hasn't played well since returning from the injury and just needs two solid weeks in VFL. Roos said two weeks is usually the standard to get guys back into form. He expects Jack to play well again this week and lineup against Collingwood.

After 150 games Watts cannot be trusted to play with the required intensity for 120 mins every week. 

It has nothing to do with ability and much more to do with ensuring that each of the 22 that run out  is 100 percent invested in the result.

No its not.

Forrest demon is spot on. There is no mystery. Goody has said several times of late he is picking his best 22. It is why weed was dropped. Hw earnt his call up. But didnt take his chance and is dropped.

Watts form (and that incorporates intensity) since coming back has not been that of best 22. The reasons for this are moot. 

One thing is 100% certain. Goody wants a best 22 watts in his team. As i have said how watts plays on saturday will tell us a great deal about jack. I for one am confident he will give his all and earn a recall against the pies. And lets all remember his match winning gut running and kick for goal in their ladt encounter.

I'm guessing he will get himself back after a stint in VFL but l am worried which jack watts will then turn up for the knock out final/s if we make it. Can't afford no shows.

So agree there is a question make over whether we can trust him to play his role
