Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In: Hannan, Weideman, JKH, Brayshaw

Out: Watts, Pedersen, Melksham (suspended), Maynard

Watts needs to be dropped on lack of effort over the last three weeks.

While Maynard showed some promise on the weekend, I think he makes the balance of our midfield worse, because he is another player who doesn’t like to kick. I see both JKH and Brayshaw as being better suited to playing alongside Oliver, Tyson, Lewis and Petracca (as a midfielder) who are all prone to overusing handball.

I think Weideman has gone past Pedersen as a forward, who has been disrupted by Gawn being in the side.

Keilty is miles off it. We'd be accused of tanking if we played him. (And yes I have watched him play VFL)

I'd be lining you Tmac on him with the instruction to push fwd if at all possible and make him accountable the other way.. Reiwoldt loves cheating his way out the back for a Jo the Goose goal these days..

I know many will say no but I think Kennedy should get a run. VFL form is good and he has some niggle about him. Brayshaw could be an option.

Reading the comments here we need some outside run and need to look at the trade period and draft. Kelly in the WAFL may be worth a look. Maybe a good option if other Kelly is not available!

A wi  against the saints and we may just make it. A lose, we can all talk about trades and draft day !

God I hope the saints r at full strength cause it seems when the opposition has key players out we go to water.

I have a bad feeling that we will not win any of our remaining games which will be very disappointing if it eventuates.

We don't seem to learn too much from our mistakes so I wouldn't hold ur breath Clint.

Presuming Hannan comes in after his "rest," does anyone think he can be molded into the gut running type of outside mid we require?

Good pace and can kick with both feet.

Apart from him and Salem, I can't really see any other options on our current list.

Perfect job for Jack Watts this week...

We need to show this champion some respect and Jack could learn so much from this match up!

Reiwoldt is the perfect role model for Jack.

I gave up trying to pick the changes week to week but I'll make two points.

The first is if we are going to do any good in the finals we must have our best players playing and playing well.  So whilst someone like Watts has been disappointing he must stay in the team and find form.

Secondly I know JKH is not flavour of the month around here and I can see why but I thought he was far from our worst against NM and he just keeps racking them up at VFL level.  I don't take much notice of low 30's at VFL level but he's a regular 40+ player.  He can obviously win the ball and he has good skills.  His treatment will be interesting to see.

JKH is also pretty tidy with his disposal , which we are sorely lacking

happy for him and billy stretch to come in the offer some skill and dash . Harmes needs a spell, I love his attitude and gut running  but so often ruins his hard work with his disposal

I am surprised that no one has pinged Trac. His last 2 games have been poor. Trying to take on the field and getting caught in the tackle and holding the ball. If you want to make a statement then let Trac know he isn't an automatic selection every week. Also can the coaches instruct Clarry to kick the ball. If we want quicker movement out of stoppages we need to stop over handling and kick the ball. Kick it into space and let someone run onto the ball instead of 3 handballs and trying to pinpoint someone in a one on one.

Hannan is very important, as he is the mobile 3rd target and where is a small goal kicking forward as we have lost the spread of goals from the mid field in the last 2 games. Richmond have shown the effectiveness of a set up with quick small forwards who run to space with only 1 key forward.

Need to see if Salem's ankle is ok later in week and if Melksham gets a week as the 2 potential outs and Trac maybe. In Hannan, JKH and Gus.

Outs:

Melksham susp Pedersen & Hunt (rested, hasn't looked himself since knocked himself out against Crows), or Salem if injured

In

Hannan. Weideman & Wagner (speed)

I'm not sure that Wagner has speed. I remember a game earlier this year at the MCG where he was easily run away from. Can't remember who we were playing, but it was in front of the MFC members with our opponents kicking to the Punt Road goals.

Don't reckon we can afford to drop him, I understand what you're saying however I think it's important for him to get continuity and experience in his game. Especially because it's the pointy end of the season and we need to utilise what we have. No point him playing in the VFL, he can be such a good game changer. Let's just hope he can turn it on for the rest of the year leading into those games that get played in September, I think they're known as finals

Melksham has been cleared, I am in shock.

It looked like it deserved weeks.

I thought a fine at worst. He was lucky the GWS didn't flinch or react and played on as if nothing happened. Looked worse than what it was.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
