Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

With Patty out and Martin playing on the edge, is it worth a pineapple on Oliver?

Champion Data has him as third favourite statistically and you are essentially gambling that Dusty will be rubbed out

Nah, Dusty knows he is probably a shoe-in now and he will no doubt modify his behaviour.

Anyway, it would be a pretty hollow victory for whoever comes in third and gets the Charlie if Martin gets rubbed out as well .

Clarry will just have to win for the next few years instead.

Why? It would mean they've been the best and FAIREST player in the league.

And IMO players care less about the Brownlow than the media and general public. It's not really a reflection of peer recognition.  Player Association awards are probably held higher among playing groups. Danger could have easily pushed to appeal the suspension but the risk of an extra week and damaging his team's home finals chances greatly outweights the potential of winning an award based almost entirely on umpire bias.

I'm not even sure Clarry will be up there, the umpires don't look at stats when they give votes it's just who had the pill more and stood out, which I wouldn't say Clarry does. He doesn't go on big runs or snags many goals (Dangerfield and Martin) you also need a year to get some attention and this is that year for Clarry. Save your $50 and put it on him for 2018

Brownlow night will be just fine as long as Clarrie and our boys have the non alcoholic beverages at their table ... with bigger things on their minds that Saturday

Dusty can have the Charlie and the crownies

Ask the players. Were you around when Rob Harvey won the Brownlow after polling second to Chris Grant? He was embarrassed that night and it took the crowd to let him know it was OK.

I agree with you 100% that based on the CURRENT criteria, any winner shouldnt feel bad if someone who polls more is ineligible from suspension, but the only times it has actually happened indicated the winner might feel differently.

GO CLARRY !!!!!!!

Clarry is currently running at 17-33 FF/FA (Career 24-50). Zach Merrett for example is 27-9 (Career 97-33). I have no idea if there's a correlation between Blownlow winners and free tallies but I don't think Clarry has too many friends in yellow. He also gives a bit of lip when pinged as well (very often unfairly).

Worth a punt on Clarry For sure.

Even the cash out value will make it worthwhile.

Chopsticks could easily snot someone if they rough him up.

When do they offer cash out, and do they all do it?

TAB. Its available anytime, obviously the price they offer fluctuates according to the state of play.

Sadly we talk about the punt and not the medal.

The best on grounds, added up and  adjusted for the winning team getting 3 ,minus ineligibles, minus teams with even midfield contribution plus the intangible factor of umpire bias and bookie /mafia interference make Oliver a ripping top 3 punt at least.

I added up Jon Browns best ons in a season when he missed many games but won dosh on top 3 or top 5 .

Gamble irresponsibly- the only way to win big!

Also- read the fine print- joint finishers in the 5 may halve or third a dividend.

Having said that - I am a terrible punter but I'm putting a few bucks on Clarry each way.

If there was ever a market for dual Brownlow medalist I'd put the house on it.

It's not a footballer- it's a freak ,once in two generations player.

Bit awkward if Dangerfield as last year's winner has the traditional role of handing this year's medal to the winner if Dangerfield himself has actually been awarded the most votes. Compelling but nevertheless excruciating television.

For what it's worth, I believe suspended players should be eligible to win the award. They were, by definition, in the top 3 fairest and best players in every round in which they scored votes.

Yes, probably not opposed to this, provided their votes only count up to when they got rubbed out, seeing as it's fairest and best.

Yeah, if any of our players are still anxious about individual awards they can focus on the Norm Smith Medal instead.

Bring Norm Home!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
