Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2018 Fixture MFC - Must have changes.

1.  Play sides in NT we have a chance of winning against.  For example, not playing against him interstate teams.  I want to see us play another Melbourne based team in NT.

2.   More Friday night games

3.   No games in Tasmania for 2018

Finally, this putrid record against North Melbourne (which may cost us a finals spot this year) MUST stop!  any self respecting sporting club that allows itself to be beaten 17 times in a row by the same opposite team is weak.  If it becomes 18 in a row, we stand for stuff all as a club.

I want North twice next year.

3 or 4 times if possible...... I want revenge, and i want it often.

Irrational maybe, but i dont care.

Revenge.

1. Bye bye Darwin or Tassie (I would rather play Geelong away than play here)

2. Have QB against the Bombers and alternate the home fixture each year.

3. More Friday (or even Thursday) nights.

4. More Saturday afternoon games

1. from a purely financial point of view, we play interstate teams because those are the ones we pull low crowds for at home.

Would you rather:

- Port at the MCG  (<30,000 crowd, which is ~ break even)

- Tigers in Darwin  (get our $500,000 or whatever it is for NT games)

Or:

- Port in Darwin  (get our $500,000 or whatever it is for NT games)

Tigers at MCG (>50,000 crowd, so healthy profit)

2.  I hate Friday night games, cause if we play crap and lose it wrecks the entire weekend and I have no interest in any of the other games.  When we play Sunday, the hope is there all weekend.

3.  Agreed

All that said, the back to back to back 6 days breaks has been the issue this season.  We've been treading water since then

Six day breaks are the most important thing. We had the most of any club, including three in a  row with a trip to Perth in between.  Disgraceful fixturing and we got a bunch of injuries from it.

If we dont make finals it would be fair to blame that block of the season and the loser at AFL House who planned it.

Dear Santa, I have been a good, well reasonably good, Melbourne supporter, I have bravely tried not to be suicidal after a loss and venting my spleem in an illogical and  over exciteable way on Demonland after the same

So as per every year I am going to list a lot of things I would like changed, of course I do realise my input has no impact whatsoever on what will actually occur, but what the hell it makes me feel better and gives me something to blame next year

Thankd

I left out the bitter lemon and sour dough for you

Get rid of Darwin, Alice can stay, either way have a bye straight after. More Friday night games. No Geelong game if possible.

Couldn't care less about a bye after Alice - no harder than going to Brisbane / GC / Adelaide or Sydney, and almost certainly easier than Perth.

But definitely a bye for both sides after a Darwin game in the interest of mutual fairness.

AND no consecutive 6 day breaks, and certainly not two consecutive 6 day breaks and a long interstate trip (WA).

AND a fair go re Friday night and Saturday afternoon / night games at the G.

But if we have to play Norf in Tasmania, we just need to learn to beat them there.

I thought his services were pro bono.

Sorry Nasher but no more games in Tassie for a start.

More games at the new stadium being built over here.

There was SFA all wrong with this years fixture apart from the string of 6 day breaks we copped but that was amplified by the injuries we incurred so its impact was more notable.

Regardless, when you actually win the games you're supposed to the fixture suddenly means nothing.

Roos thinks pro bono means you are a U2 fan.

The AFL will want the money back and place us wherever they like.

Roosy will coach at Collingwood next year for more millions after" discussing it with his family".

Darwin and Alice Spring games need be against any of the following; with a bye to follow Darwin.

GWS, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Fremantle, Port Adelaide and North Melbourne (games against North need to be rotated between Tassie, NT, Etihad and MCG. This will possibly only have us playing North in Tassie 1 in 3 years. [censored] if we have to play away games against North in Tassie all the time. Thats 2 years in a row now.

Geelong home games v the Dees need to be rotated between Simonds and Etihad. It is unfair if we are expected to play Geelong at Simonds every Geelong home game. [censored]!

I am not a huge fan of night games (except for Anzac eve v Richmond and interstate games).  I do like 2.10 Sundays first and 2.10 Saturdays second. We do need to play 2 Saturday night games at the G. Preliminary Finals are only played at night being the reason.

We need home games against high drawing Victorian based clubs. Each year we only get four home games against vic teams with many of those being StKilda, Western Bulldogs and North, often at Etihad. When was our last home game against  Essendon or Geelong? Imagine home games against these clubs plus Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Carlton. This woul be a draw to nearly match that of Collingwood and even Eddy would be envious. More importantly a draw against a handful of the drawing clubs would generate cash, extra members, greater live Television exposure and just maybe we will no longer have the need to sell games to the N.T. To survive.

Playing SA and WA teams in NT stands to make the initiative more lucrative. No point playing North or a Saints there because you'll get half the crowd. Playing Adelaide got a full house and allowed the club to pocket from it. Harsh reality.

No team has a perfect fixture, and there has been very little wrong with ours this year. We had a run of 6 day breaks because we ask to play on QB each year. Without that game, I'm sure there would have been at least one 7 day break leading into our Friday night game.

One trip to Perth, one to Adelaide, none to Sydney, none to Brisbane - I'm not sure what more people want. Tasmania and Canberra are hardly the worst places in the world to play, and they are closer to being neutral venues.

Marquee home games against the big Victorian clubs will come when our performances demand it.  That said, other than the TV exposure, I couldn't care less about playing on Friday or Saturday nights. I'd much rather be able to take the family at 2pm on a Saturday, then go by myself at night and get home at midnight.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
