Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is a good post ash.

I think what we would like to see from those involved is a bit of admittance that they actually did do something wrong - and the same from those one eyed fans who still think they were all innocent and it was an afl/asada/wada conspiracy... and thats what irks, is that we havent had any of that apart from the odd rational bomber like yourself.

Exactly right br

Whilst it is good to see ash contrition and recognise the innocence of the latest crop, the absolute denialists and the victim protesters amongst their supporters tarnishes any prospect of sympathy.

But still amusing that the same posters go into Essendon hating mad drug cheats frenzy when the Dons are mentioned.

Are Carlton referred to as the 'Salary cap cheating frauds' anymore, or is that too far in the past?

Ash, I can fully understand that your good self would want to move on from that debacle of  fiasco ( doubling up there for effect..I know ). I get it. It's your club. You barrack for them, you unlike a very great many from Windy Hill have uttered Mea Culpa.

Here's the thing. Tim Watson is a sorry effort at a frontman. He was as immersed in that mire as anyone . His protestations are hilariously coloured and many in the wider community see him for the hypocrite he is. When he says "anything"  it is in my estimation fair game for 'review".

Ash..just for the record also. Until the day Essendon admit what they did, then they will be labeled as they are. Why should anyone else move on if they CAN'T.

I dont hate Essendon.  Despise is a word that does however come to mind. ( I still havent forgotten which team pushed and pushed to have us done for list managing btw )

I want to know why the club let a rogue like Stephen Dank in.

Because Hird wasn't patient enough to wait until 2015 to win a flag - he wanted it in 2012 or at the latest 2013.

Whereas I hate Essendon with a passion.
Mostly because of their supporters.

You said in your above post that you find parts of this saga amusing.

I will say what ever i want to you in here mate, you are treading on enemy lines.

Many times when you were in nappies i went out to Windy Hill, it was life threatening sometimes.

I have hated your mob long before 2000

"Whatever it takes"

produce the paperwork, or it won't be forgotten...

My exact quote is : But still amusing that the same posters go into Essendon hating mad drug cheats frenzy when the Dons are mentioned.

I find some of the reactions on Demonland amusing, the actual saga itself, very serious and not amusing to me in the slightest. But you read what you want to read. Any excuse to get stuck into anything Essendon I guess.

Yep, Windy Hill was a tough place for the opposition supporters, especially in yesteryears.

A story I have, a bit more recent was from Round 6 this year, at Etihad Stadium. With Melbourne 6 goals up with about 2 mins to play, me and my partner decided to head home. On the way out as is tradition with her, win lose or draw, she buys a player badge from the Merchandise Shop. As we were leaving the Ground Level shop she was hit in the back of the head by a football thrown at her, by a Melbourne supporter. He then said to her "Cop that Drug cheats".

As I was about to have a real physical go at this [censored], she stopped me and just said "Let's go". She wasn't injured, but very shaken by it. Luckily not life threatening like the old Windy Hill days.

Every team has w*nker supporters, but obviously no one deserves to get smacked in the back of the head with a footy just cos they barrack for the drug cheats. I guess you would be the sort of person that would argue the actions of Essendon FC was the cause of the incident, but that low life crossed the line that day in my eyes.

Thanks Ash. Hibberd has been the best recruit we have had for years, right up there with one of my favorites, also a defender, at least when he played for us, Steven Icke.

On tagging him, sure they could but i reckon he would be harder to tag than a mid as he running hard. perhaps stop his run a bit but the way we run in waves means that they would lose a player essentially and he can give off tho Frost or Hunt to run it out.

Frost has surprised me. Didn't think he was as good as he is.

What a great asset to have a bloke who can play tall, but also provide run and dash from the backline.

And Hunt is a gem. He is the sort of player that I can see, like Johanansen last year, winning a Norm Smith one day.

Frost has surprised just about everyone, himself included...maybe/maybe not . He backs himself and grows with each outing. Sometimes the weight of that growth tends to make the tree bow....until next time.

Hunt...is a not so rough diamond...still more polishing to happen...and then the brilliance will be blinding.

Without doubt Milkshake and Pig are relishing their new surrounds. Both served their penance and are making a fresh and contributory  reboot.

You should really swap the black for blue and be done with it  ^_^

Essendon should have been booted out of the league for 10 years IF they were unable OR unwilling to produce Paperwork or Reciepts for the entirety of the Saga.

They didn't. Your CEO stepped down immediately and has never said a word since

Board Members have walked away untouched. It is a total disgrace

sorry your wife copped it, but people do hate your club vehmently because not a lot was done in REAL terms

I despise Demetriou as well. If he had shut  his mouth, WADA would have seized all the records they needed, and we would all know for sure what happened.

But the League allowed you shredding and disposal time.

As i have stated before, only 1 medical case is needed and this whole case will Blow harder than it has before.

How is Nathan Lovett Murray's daughter going?

Give it up Ash, you seem like a nice enough guy, but you are poking the bear here and you're not going to change opinions on this site.

Being a supporter can be tough, the club does something wrong and sometimes, the supporters bear the consequences, in Essendon's case it just reinforces long held opinions. I've copped heaps of abuse from Bombers supporters over the years, I'd have to say they are pretty feral, them and Collingwood and Saints supporters probably the worst.

One of my friends was a staunch Bombers supporter and when this happened he took all his stuff down to the Salvo's depot and joined the Dee's, he's been to a few games with us and he'd never change back, he was appalled at what happened. I never spoke to him about he just did it off his own back, he's also joined his wife and kids.

Different folks have different views.

Yep, all of the inaction by the AFL justifies that low life scumbag Melbourne supporter physically assaulting my girlfriend that day.

It almost sounds like you are hoping there is birth defect somewhere along the way just so Essendon can be punished again.

For about the 4th time, not trying to change opinions, just replying to posts with my point of view.

Your friend is entitled to do what he did. Not many have taken that path, and that's just the way it is.

As you say, everyone is different.

There is a lot of resentment to Essendon. A lot in my view quite justifiable, but the action of that wanquer was totally out of order.

I can't believe some of the rubbish on this thread. Some the hatred is crazy. And i struggle to understand how some people can take what happened at the EFC and their subsequent response so personally. To be frank it is plain weird. Not much different to some dickehead - who should be charged with assault feeling justified at throwing a football at someones head because they barrack for a football side.

Good on ya Ash for posting so reasonably.

You see Sir, you are tricky. I said last night I wasn't going to talk about this anymore, and you suck me back in.

No, I want answers too. But I'm realistic in that we aren't going to get them.

So instead of letting what has already ruined a good few years of my football following life consume me more, yeah I guess I have chosen to try and move forward, focus on the club in it's current state, and do what I can to improve it's position as a supporter. I'm not proud of the clubs efforts over that period, it was an awful time where the club made error after error. If me trying to move forward makes me a bad person, so be it. Not to say that yes, I still want some answers and those responsible to be punished, I just don't expect it.

We can debate about all the cover ups you want, but one man, Stephen Dank has the information we all desire. Yes it was Hird and Thompson who got him to the club, and the players should have asked more questions, and the Essendon Board of the time have walked away untouched, and Demetriou this, and David Evans that, but in the end, the main guy, numero uno for the cause of this is Stephen Dank, and he isn't talking.

It's terrible that Essendon can't definitively say what the players were injected with. Or maybe they can and chose not to. That would be worse IMO. But why the authorities or whoever needs to haven't been able to get Stephen Dank to produce his paperwork, is beyond me.

Wanted to mate, but I was caught between seeking retribution and making sure my girlfriend was ok.

When she told me she wanted to leave, we left.

I'm realistic enough to know this low life would be in the minority. I haven't let his actions affect my opinion of the Melbourne FC or the majority of its supporter base.

But I guess it highlights that every single club has supporters that can give a club a bad name by their actions. Once you wear the colors, you area representing that club.

But Ash, you have given up the fight to get the truth. Which is what Essendon wanted.  If the MFC was in the same position i wouldn't give the club another cent until they came clean 100%

David Evans has walked Free, without a word. The now CEO for Melbourne Victory? he has walked away...

Why are these people allowed to walk into other high paying jobs after causing such wreckage?

i went through 12 years of school as a disabled student. I copped things thrown at me every day, be it food or footballs. So i toughened up. I had no choice in the 70's.

but a drug regime, where for the first 10 -12 weeks you were smashing teams, before it let go in 2012, that produced a Captain who was given a Brownlow. I want the truth.

We should all demand that.

Essendon should have been banned from playing in the AFL until original records were produced.

But Vlad was not prepared to compromise The Broadcast deal that had just been struck.

The Records are out there. Both Dank and the EFC know where they are

    TRAINING: Sunday 7th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down in the rain to Gosch's Paddock for the Demon Family Series April School Holiday Open Training session. Not such a good morning, weather wise. As I arrived, it starting raining, settled into watching some Victory players have a kick around. The MFC squad come out as the rain abated, they had wide smiles as the walked down the roped corridor. Plenty of joy from the supporters towards them, kids everywhere, maybe about 500 to a 1000 of us.
