Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is Garlett a definite starter?

Anyone have any info?

The club's usually been very clear about communicating these sorts of things if a player has been given time off. Given they've selected him and they haven't said anything I'm taking it as he's a very likely starter.

Pretty much the only inclusion that concerns me is Viney. I know he's tough but I don't want him playing if he's not right. I really hope he's not pushing himself too hard to come back.

Either way though these are some fantastic inclusions.

Whats the feeling on garlett?

Has he been named as hes definitely playing, or are they giving him all the time he needs in case he can make it back for the game?

Mystery at this stage?

Added incentive to play on the MCG in the indigenous jumper I suppose.

Love that jumper, best design of all the indigenous jumpers imo.

I know as usual this is preaching to the choir but we really need every Melbourne fan to make it to the game. It's a massive game for our season, we've got a group of returning best 22 players, and a fan favourite of old back in. I know it looks like it's going to be a gusty cold day but there needs to be a strong show of support for the boys as we edge towards a hopeful return to finals.

Our fans need to make some noise!

Couple of points

Viney  obviously been playing in pain for some time  and ran through brick walls the last couple he played,   not sure he knows any other way,

Watts the FD have had enough time to get him right,

And Trenners    just so pleased he has arrived back,   may not set the world on fire but the only better return would have been Liam Jurrah      Go Dees

Can we sneak Jurrah into the forward pocket.

how good would we be with the Jurrahcane up and firing now.

Liam Jurrahs demise was a sad moment and talent unfulfilled.

Liam would kick 5 tomorrow if he was allowed to play.

Actually fitting if he did, I remember Port were keen to draft him, following his exit from the Dees. Plus he took ...."that Mark"  against them

I do not like Pedo being out. An underdone Jack Watts takes on ruck duties as chop out and riiiiiiiiiiiiipp there goes the Hammy again!

I don't like Pedo being out either, but realise that though he has done a tremendous job (and far more than many sceptics though he would) when he was needed he is not best 22.

Surely Tom Mc will do (most of) the second ruck work, with JW4 or Jesse going deeper (or maybe Tracc) when Tom goes on ball.

to be honest I'm glad to see Smith and Wagner out. provides a better balance to the side, and makes it more likely that they can fit T-Mac in the back half if required. Good to see ANB, Harmes and Hannan retained despite all the midfielders coming back too - they all have a bit of zip and grunt and I would prefer us to go in too heavy in that department than not!

I'm dreaming of a 25+ 2 goal game from Tenners. He was an absolute Jet before his injury troubles.

I'm sensing a Mighty Ducks moment where he walks out onto the G after half time and kicks a bag. (And then we lose the game anyway because he wasn't a named player :P)

Under the circumstances, i.e. a bereavement in his family, there is NO way the club would have selected Garlett if he wasn't playing.

For the love of god ProDee change ur pic.

Cant stand seeing it as it makes me want to vomit.

No excuses, if we can't win this we are not good enough to be competitive in finals, this year,

Fair Dinkum? So sick of the tripe some of our very own have been dishing out recently. We are finally the mongrel team and the serial complainers who hate their own Lives can't wait to post their habitual drivel on social media.

Very clever in bringing in the big guns and commence our challenge up the Col De Finals. We have kept in touch with the peloton despite some falls in the early stages. Time to Do some serious damage to the rest of the pretenders!

Trengove selection makes sense. Why bring in a guy, that went through all he has in the past few years with confidence issues stemming from early captaincy and injuries, when half the side (and most of the midfield) are out of the team? Basically throwing him to the wolfs again with his career on the line. He'd have the limelight completely on him, with expectations that he'd have to carry the midfield in his first game back.

I've got no doubt Goodwin's wanted him in the side the past few weeks. Goodwin noted "he's been in terrific form". I believe the past few weeks Goodwin's had to throw the lines in about Trengove being close and having to "work on things" as an excuse to avoid the real reason for Trengove's absence during the past few weeks of injuries to the team.

This week in fact is the best possible time for Trengove to come in. We have our A grade midfielders back, which takes away the spotlight and reliance on Jack to HAVE to have a good game. This takes so much pressure off of him. Now he comes in knowing he doesn't have to be the star or the leader, but just play his role and be part of the group.

No doubt he'll still be playing for a new contract, but this way the circumstances are tailored in his favour.

Absolutely the right call by Goodwin and co.

Good point...

I am about as stiff as a rocket and ready to fly to the moon right now.

Welcome back Jack, Jack, Jack, Christian and Dom.

Always hate going up against Port, we are sporting the strongest team we have played in weeks...Probably since the Dogs game.

That forward line makes me moister than an oyster. Between T-Mac, Garlett, Watts, Petracca and Hogan I think I could be forgiven for expecting at least 15 goals this game.

Port are a good team but I have held them in the same light as Richmond all season, pretenders who are 2 of the most fraudulent top 4 teams I have ever witnessed...They've had a golden run with injuries and haven't been convincing against any sides worth their salt.

If we come out of the blocks the same way we did against the Dogs then we will run all over them.
I am kind of optimistic about this one after last week and would love to see Hogan continue his form from the second half of last week. (Wouldn't mind him kicking straight)

Go Demons!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
