Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Didn't see any of the game tonight - can someone with a record of being reasonable give me a bit of an account of what went down? Looks like a few played okay but others did not. Cheers in advance.

To work it like joeboy I'll say "fumbly and ineffective".

(but "good in patches")

Thats you done? Really? We have been utter [censored] for over a decade but you will bail if the club needs to sell some games for cash? We are on the up mate. Enjoy the ride

Only interested in the positives - I think JKH has turned the corner and is obviously a midfielder and not a small forward. O Mac continues his development down back, Lewis played his best game for us and Hunt has returned to form.

i wish Darwin would suceed from Australia and be ineligible to host games.

Agree re JFK - very good in close and runs hard.

And Darwin doesn't succeed for us and should secede.  (Birds suck seed because they have no teeth)

Can't keep playing this catch up football. You can't hold the good sides goalless for long enough to catch up.

Had to start well and the poor misses early by Garlett and Kent really hurt. Should have had 3.0 instead of 1.2. The first quarter from our so called stars like Gawn, Petracca, Hogan and Oliver was really poor.

Just need to draft quick and skilful midfielders. McKay and Cameron murdered us on the outside. We need midfielders that can run and kick and won't just bomb it in there. Leave me out of selling the farm for Lever.

I guess you'll be coming up with the 1 mill per year the NT sponsorship covers. We're not a big club and still need the money. We would've lost in Melbourne anyway did not have the cattle on the field.

Giving top side a 5 goal start ...might as well forget it after that.

we are a slow starting team and it must be fixed.  We need a better spine!! Our talls are all arms and legs...no brains

a very forgettable game to watch.  Must win next week, or on the way out the back door.

OK in the clinches but inside 50s were horrible.

They transitioned like it was a training drill too many times.

Out structured outsmarted and outclassed.

And generally one of those nights when [censored] doesn't go your way.

Just did a ladder predictor. Had us scraping into 8th spot only to play a red hot Sydney on their home deck. My lord we need our players back. The last couple of months have been an exciting ride but we're running on fumes now.

On the positive side, it was nice to see Jesse Hogan working his way into some good form. But please can we get rid of our Darwin fixture as soon as financially possible. I love Darwin. I was born there. But I love the Demons more and this is like seeing an abusive parent (Darwin) beating up your first love (Melbourne).

Did he?

Just outclassed.  Had our share of the ball, but used it poorly, fumbled, couldn't seem to mark the ball, bombs forward to nobody.  Had quite a few swings of momentum our way but could never peg back the margin enough to be competitive.  Gave away a few junk time goals at the end which was a shame.

A few junior players stood up - JKH, ANB and Oliver all very good.  Hogan in the second half looked like he was starting to get going, which was pleasing.  Looked awful in the first half.

Hunt kicked a belter of a goal after the siren at 3/4 time.  If nothing else, watch that.

Not particularly surprised considering we have 4 of our best out.
Happy there was a fight back but jeez the moment they kicked up from half back it was one of their huge forwards all alone.
Not a massive fan of playing in Darwin, I get why we do it but to have to travel to the middle of nowhere twice a season is a bit much when you consider potential injuries etc.

JKH was excellent, did everything he needed to do to stay in the team, ANB was also pretty good.

I will probably get hung out to dry for this but I just don't like our forward line with Hogan in it.
He doesn't chase, he doesn't tackle, he's slow, he throws his arms up, he stays on the deck for a long time after he goes to ground, he isn't that accurate, and can barely kick the ball 45 meters. I know he is having a rough trott but none of these things should be effected by injury and prior to his break from footy it was the same.

Kent, as sad as I am to say it, will probably play one more season for us and most of it in Casey...He should perhaps start looking for jobs now. Joel Smith was okay too, I see why the coach likes him.

All in all, we have 3 of 4 very hard games ahead of us...4 of 4 if you include a team we haven't beaten in 12 or so years.

I am hoping we can get Jones, Watts, Viney, Salem all back within a week of eachother because with our best 22 on the park playing 4 quarters of footy we won't be beaten.

Go Dees...

Both sides had to play on the same ground in the same conditions - Adelaide did it better.

I am far more concerned re the inequity of the effects on us for next week.

If it is to continue it MUST precede our bye.  Only stubbornness at AFL prevent this for occurring - there can be no other reason.

Hibberd Oliver Hunt petracca were good melkshake in the first half Lewis and jkh were ok the rest pretty flat mistake riddled and looking a class below

The media told them they had no hope because Nathan: turnover king bomb it in long Jones, Jack poor kick Viney, Dom: o my knee's always sore Tyson, Jack Watts and injury prone Salem were out. They went in with that mindset apart from Hunt, Petracca, Jordan Lewis, Jetta, Frost, Oliver, Garlett, Kent, Milkshake and Gawn. ANB and Hannan had a go as well. The two McDonalds tried hard but were pretty bad. Pedersen likewise. The team decided they couldn't win and didn't follow the game plan of hard in contested ball.

Our inability to hit targets going forward was frustrating. We went inside our forward 50, 55-52. When are we going to change our system to include players leading up at the ball carrier? Always seem to either get it on a sideways lead or over the back. Our key forwards need to improve their leading patterns.

A record of being realistic but seen as negative on here.

Lost the game in the first quarter, goals from clearances really hurt us.

The rest of the game we were dominated on the rebound. We would turn it over then they would slingshot to an open field.

Had some moments where we looked alright, but every time we got a sniff we would fumble a simple ball or miss an easy goal.

They were very clean with their skills and played like a top 2 team.

I don't think anyone won their position in our team.

Some positives in that. Hunt best game for quite a while, JKH good (though could be more damaging with his disposals), Oscar more than decent, Lewis and Hibberd both strong, and Hogan and Gawn will be better for the run, both showed signs.

A few negatives, obviously, but the howler in it all is Bernie Vince heading for another unnecessary holiday.

Easy in/out next week: Tyson/Watts for Kent/Vince. Smith (at least) gets a reprieve.

JKH was ok. He certainly wasn't excellent. Very little impact on the game. Very little damage with his disposals. Lots of dinky chips and handpasses. Don't get seduced by numbers.

I thought Hogan grew in confidence as the game went on. He gets manhandled more than any other forward, umpires rarely notice, I'm not excusing his miss from 10 metres out but the amount of times he got burnt tonight by his teammates was a joke.

Mayne I got a little trigger happy, I am just happy to see him getting a good amount of it, and lay 5 or 6 tackles.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
