Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is why I don't post in the general forums any more.

In the general forum, (besides the odd quip that amuses no one but myself) I now only post in the music thread - that's it. I gave up posting as there is far too much "rusted on" views.

Yeah I noticed you backing off the political threads a while back. They are all the poorer for it.

Words are actually far more powerful than violence. I am sure there is a famous quote about this but I can't be bothered looking it up.

the quote came to me - 'the pen is mightier than the sword'

True to an extent.

but a punch in the head can be fairly annoying.

Better still, a whack in the eye with a dictionary covers both!

Actually don't think Demonland is too bad for the sort of thing the OP is suggesting, and if/when it does blur the lines the moderators do a good job anyway.

Fair bump, play on!

All for people having a thicker skin, but that doesn't mean the collective on here don't judge a poster for a needless personal jibe.

Online bullying should not be confused with ProDee or Wiseblood giving a customary slap on the way through an argument but don't let that water down the response to the trolls who want to ruin the lives of people through the anonymity and unanimity of social media.

This is my view also. People blatantly abusing others with no attempt at tackling the topic get banned.

I have to admit as admin I've always found this a difficult aspect to police because I enjoy it when things get heated - even when I'm on the receiving end of it.  I'm aware that others are more sensitive to it, but I copped quite a lot of abuse in my early days as forum admin for my moderating style that my skin hardened to the point where nothing gets through.

I do believe that how you feel is how you feel though. A harmless jibe or throwaway comment to some is someone else's hurtful and cutting remark. It's not about hardening up, it's about respecting the fact that not everyone has the same tolerance for criticism. If anyone ever feels like they're being particularly vilified or targeted, I'd encourage you to directly approach myself or other moderators. It may be that it's been missed or we just haven't thought it was a big deal. I can say that I will always do my best to listen and understand, even if it doesn't resonate with me immediately.

Been on here for 12 years, and can say I have had my fair share of personal barbs thrown at me, and it has never really bothered me. I don't take it personally, I'm just glad I have a place to talk about the mighty dees every odd night.

I agree, I've been on 1 year - not even actually and I don't  get offended, and I can see how people do - I wince at some comments made to others - not that I am self proclaimed  moral arbiter - yet i still think its important to discuss....

As a recent arrival to this site you have no right to comment on its culture. Why don't you just go back to where you came from.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
