Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pies last round and last of Buckleys tenure could be a massive danger game.

it's farcical to think they'd put in more energy and effort in his final game when they've had a further 22 previous games to show the care/give a damn about Bucks etc etc...

Farcical was certainly the case for us in Roosy's last game.

I'd love to see the Pies replicate that.

All the games left are 50/50 but realistic I see it as:

Crows - Loss

Port - 50/50

North - 50/50

Gws - Loss

Saints - 50/50

Lions - Win

Pies - 50/50

The players can't go into a game thinking we beat them last time or we lost to them last time. Every game needs to be a fresh mind set and that we 100% can beat the team out there that day

Unfortunately thats how i see these matches too. MFCSS in full effect

The Bummers have the best run home of all teams.

If we are hanging around 7th or 8th position by then they could leap frog us.

Ill be sick if the drug cheats make the finals.

I reckon the saints will account for them on friday so they have to win 5 out of 6 to get 12 wins after that.   very soft run but hopefully they slip up.  they lost to brisbane FFS

I think all are winnable, although winning them all unlikely.

I'm concerned about playing Adelaide without Jones and Viney, and if we don't get back Watts and Tyson I think we'll really struggle

GWS game will again depend on personnel. With Viney and or Jones back I rate us a sneaky chance (pending no further injuries)

Every other game I actually expect us to win regardless of circumstance.

Is Tyson a chance this week ?  Make sure they drop Kent and never play him again.. He has lost interest.. wonder what his Contract terms are and when it is due ????  any thoughts ?

He's contracted till the end of 2018. He has plenty of potential, so I dunno about never playing him again. But I'm with you, he needs to find something fast or get left behind permanently.

Re: Tyson I remember Goody mentioning he'll be back this week in the presser on Sunday. Did I mishear that?

I'm not counting us out of this weekend's game against the Crows.  Their midfield isn't elite, and if we curb the influence of Sloane then it brings them on par with us.  The Crows have a soft underbelly and if we can limit the amount of easy ball guys like Jenkins and Betts like to get then it goes a long way to us winning.

I went to Adelaide this year and have seen 3 wins (and nearly a 4th ) at Etihad. Plus last year against Port. All seemed impossible untilrecently.

Anything is possible with this group and coach

Totally agree D17, which is why I'm always bemused to see supporters write us off in any game this year.  Of course we will lose a game here and there, but this isn't the Melbourne of 2013 that you could confidently write off before a game and simply hope for anything below a 6 goal loss.  Outside of the Swans game, and we know why we were so flat in that one, we've been in every contest this year.  Even though it won't happen, you could easily say we could win all of our final games because we can match it with anyone.

I see Oliver and especially Petracca as the key to our next few weeks.

If we can sneak a couple more wins before Viney and Jones come back than with luck with can hit September healthy and with momentum.

I think that we have the grunt to hurt teams in September.

We can beat Adelaide, port is 50/50 but I am backing us, the giants aren't the world beaters they get talked up as and we have a great record against them, north are rubbish the lions aren't much better neither are the pies and saints is 50/50

i think we will beat north, pies and lions for sure and if we sneak in one more we should be a lock for finals.

End of the day, if we'd beaten Hawthorn and Freo like we were supposed to, we'd be a lock for finals. We need to make those two games up with wins against two of Port, Adelaide, GWS and Saints. Win at least two of those and we'll play finals.

You could argue on the flip side that if we hadn't beaten the Crows and West Coast on their home decks, like nobody thought we would, then we might almost be out of contention with the injuries we have.  I think it's just reflective of how even the season has been to this point.  Every club has coughed up games they should have won.

But I agree totally with your final point, Mr. Plainview, that if we can win two of those 4 games then we play finals.

we play the 3 worst sides in the league and we need 3 wins to make the 8 so unless something catastrophic happens, we will at least limp in to the 8. I predict 4 wins.  if we were playing the saints at the moment, they would roll us as they are in form so I'm glad its not for a few weeks.

Round 17 looms as a preview of our Prelim

Round 18 preview of our elimination final

and round 20 - preview of the GF. where Viney rams scullys head into the turf at the first bounce and we win by 10 goals!

**** started off ok in this post and now I've got carried away!!

There is a possibility of us missing the 8 on percentage on 12 wins. Need to make sure that any losses are small.

The permutations and combinations are endless for the balance of the season.  One thing that's received little coverage is that we have no away games.  Yes, we have three games at neutral venues but we have played good football at all of them recently (the Freo win in Darwin, the 1st half against GWS at Manuka and the last 3 quarters against North last year at Bellerive).  Absolutely nothing to fear on that front.  I'm more concerned around the consistency of the Darwin hangover phenomena in terms of the Port match

Love this, but I desperately want to come against Richmond and Geelong again in our march on the flag. (Note: will regret writing this no doubt - no need to bump - I'll take superstitious revenge on myself).

Anywho, great to look ahead, but a few weeks back I would have said we'd be good for at least six wins. Future injuries and return-from-injury-form will play a part. We're banking on the return of some of our key players, but lose some others along the way due to the extra workload or misfortune and we could be focaccias. I won't raise specific examples.

Lots of "ifs" there both ways.

We have, collectively, looked backwards too much for too long - time to look ahead.

Can't change the past: can definitely determine the future.

You're right. It's a super tough competition and we've gotten this far with no much going our way in terms of scheduling, off-field media shenanigans and injuries. Imagine if we got Essendon's fixture and no injuries!

Sure...but we didn't cheat and bring the whole game into disrepute, so why should we be rewarded?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
