Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It seems the club has apologised.  I doubt it would have if Clayton hadn't overstepped the mark in some way.  https://www.triplem.com.au/sport/afl/news/melbourne-football-club-apologise-to-carlton-blues-fan-over-clayton-oliver-verbal-altercation

There is a lot of abuse in the last few pages based on assumptions, the guy's appearance and his fb page.

Maybe we should wait for more info before people take their angst out against the club for apologising.

Lets just hope that counselling is the only thing that happens to Clarrie.

The obvious outcome.

Super disappointed with the club on this one.

If Oliver did in fact threaten to kill him then I think it's a pretty reasonable outcome.

No assumption 'Lucifer'...the fan put hands on a player.

It's a no go zone no matter if he looked like Brad Pitt.

[censored] that!!!

He should thank his God that Clarry didn't jump the fence, pull his head off and give a lightning fast handball to Jeffy so he could boot it into the third tier.

AFL Match Review Panel must have looked at the vision and judged the contact as careless with low impact to the body with the sanction of receiving an apology. Bit of a joke all round.

Clarry should have always received a 'slap on the wrist' for engaging the fan. Needs to mature up a bit after the drink driving, twitter war and now clash with a Carlton Fan. Keep the sledging on the field. If Clarry hadn't have reacted to the fan but only pointed him out to the security team, the fan would have been sent packing but by retaliating he unfortunately makes the would be victim into the villain.

I hope the club follows up with a little statement of their own saying something along the lines of "on this occasion we felt Clayton may have overstepped the mark however the fan in question should be cautious in the future about making any physical or verbal contact in the future. The players have enough to concern themselves on the field and should not have to deal with unnecessary physical contact from patrons."

Clarry's comments were probably too far, didn't need to say he'll kill the [censored]. But this idiot shouldn't get off scot free either, the price of admission doesn't cover you getting up in the face and touching the players. If he's a member, Carlton should put him on probation.

Both were in the wrong in their own ways.

except with this weak decision, clarrie is now the villain and the mug punter is now a hero and celebrity

result will be more vindictive publicity and game crowd attention for clarrie

if there was to be any apologies then both sides should have apologised

I'm happy that the club aplogises to not give this distraction any more oxygen. The MFC is in the business of winning premierships and whether Lord Varys is allowed to attend AFL games isn't our concerns. We won on Sunday and have a lot of work to do that if we get everything right have a genuine chance of winning a flag.

Disappointed at Melbourne here. By making the apology, the cross-hairs of the uninformed will now be firmly directed at Clarry, whom already have it in for him for his 'diving'. The Demons have effectively allowed free range at Oliver, and I'm really disappointed about it.

That said, Oliver should not interact with crowd members at all. But the Dees should be protecting him in these kinda instances IMO.

Yes I agree That is outrageous Aquiro has effectively admitted assaulting Clayton Oliver, no matter how minor or incidental that is completely beyond acceptable behavior . If the AFL accepts this sort of thing what will they accepts accidental flares thrown onto the ground  and routine raids onto the pitch to bash players of opposing clubs. Fortunately until this incident the AFL has been free of this sort of thuggery.

IF the club has actually apologised, (unless Oliver did actually say he would kill him, and they specified that that was the only subject of the apology) I am extremely disappointed and hope that they release the full story.

AND the AFL still need. to sanction the scumbag for touching a player - if they don't then they admit that it is OK.  A very wriggly can of worms they are opening there.

Doubt it

Clarrie has apologised.  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-10/afl-probing-olivers-verbal-stoush-with-fan

"I shouldn't have reacted the way that I did and I apologise for that because I've taken some polish off the team's win," Oliver said.

"Moving forward I'll learn from this and it won't happen ever again."

It is understood Oliver has conceded the Blues fan did not use a profanity in his comments to the player

Please don't shoot the messenger, I am just reporting from press releases.

If Clarrie embellished what the guy said, that is poor form.

I love Clarrie as much as everyone on this site but he does need to let his football do the talking.  Speaking of which he received 4 Coaches votes

Club expects its players to be hard, but rolls over when they need and deserve some backup.

My pride in management just dropped a notch.

How do you profile a bloke like that?

  • Lives with mum
  • Enjoys Froot Loops with warm milk for breakfast
  • Waxes his whole body
  • Ambidextrous.....which is starting to cause vision problems
  • Wears a nightie to bed
  • 10 more girlfriends and he'll reach double figures
  • Has one of those single beds shaped like a racing car
  • Never played football in his life
  • Highlight of the week is sipping cocoa with mum and watching Coronation Street
  • Maintains a collection of ancient Playboy magazines under his bed which now cannot be opened......

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
