Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Good write up.

Another Brighton Grammarian - could he join Hunt Salem Watts at MFC.

Robert Shaw seems to be a great developer of young talent

Absolutely loved 'Dasher' Don.  The sentimental old fool in me wants Seb on our list, even though I know no more about him than what's written in the article.

Always had a soft spot for Don Williams, especially given he came and was Captain-Coach of the local Sale side in 1963, prior to his return to the MFC to be part of the 1964 Premiership team.

Would be nice if young Seb made it on to the MFC list and was able to emulate some of his Grand-father's footy prowess!

If he's any good, and it appears he is, he may well Land with a team that finishes further down the ladder. Pity there's no grandfather/grandson rule!.

Good old BGS, great facilities and all for just $30K a year.

This kid bleeds Blue and Red, is exactly what the Dees need as a high half forward, endurance and speed to burn, 2.93 PB for 20m, was top 10 for 4 out of the physical tests at combine. Will take a year to fully mature at AFL level but the reward will be grand, plenty of Hampton Rovers in this lad and with Angus Brayshaw and Christian Salem looking after him the sky is the limit with deep roots via his Grandfather. if Dees don't take I feel he will go between 35-50

Deeprived Childhood, Not sure if you have heard Robert Shaw address his players but there is no Toff Tot football the way they go about it, guys like Josh Kelly, Hunt, Salam, Clayton are all products on New street, Brighton, but all fell in love with the game at their local clubs and all great players well before secondary school started. Seb Williams is no different, like the guys mentioned, he is no risk, just needs a home & the rest will fall into place, easy decision for MFC.

Below is an excellent post by Whispering Jack about Williams in another thread

I haven't seen as much of him in action as I would have liked but I did see a bit of him from time to time at Dragons training during the season (which is next door to where my grandsons' junior team trains).

Williams has been described as "a nice little player" which in terms of draftability is not necessarily a great recommendation. You have to really have some special talents to come into contention high up in the draft if you're 177cm. In Seb's case, he's got a few things going for him but if push comes to shove, I think most clubs would prefer players a bit taller with the same capabilities as on-ballers and there are a lot around in that category. It would be a romantic tale if he was drafted by the club but I think it would only be as a rookie.

The picture of Seb's build is similar to Jack Viney before he was drafted via the father and son, I read the article and I believe he is 182cm at the combine so he has the size and the pedigree to make a good footballer.  The only question is he able to go from school/U18 football to AFL. I would draft him if the choice came down to 2 players (he and another).

I didnt see him last year at the rovers - at least pre and start of season.

Where did he play?

Yes, I know him and the family via being on the committee @ Hampton Rovers, great people, wonderful young guy, he was the skipper at BGS this year and was BOG in many games including kicking 4 goals in the APS V AGS game in August & judged BOG with and against many lads touted top 10 in this year's draft. Had 40+ disposals against Geelong College also with plenty of draft prospects.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
