Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Stretch was really disappointing against the Swans but I thought he was very impressive against West Coast. A number of our impressive plays from that night (especially when the heat was on) started from a Billy handball from the bottom of a pack.

I thought he was good v West Coast too, but I did notice him not go when he should've. Against the Swans he was poor and there was twice I noticed when he chose not to be first to the ball.

I don't want to rush him in, but I really want to see Joel Smith named in the final 22 considering White has been dropped and we're missing a head at half-back. He might also bring in some much needed team flexibility and allow Bernie and Lewis to play in the midfield which would help start to solve our no Viney and Tyson dilemma.

What chance We don't have as many coming off the back of the square?

I think any chance we have for quick entries into our f50 with Hogan back and to he it away from their mids asap might be a tactic at times on Sunday.

I just hope that with Jesse back we don't revert to the "kick it long" mentality so beloved by many at the game. He needs to come back as a cog in the wheel, not as THE wheel.

Yep marchbank is a big out for them. Plowman undersized and weitering likes to be loose. Hogan and Gawn could grab a few marks inside 50

Weitering no certainty to play. If he plays I doubt that he will be 100% with a dodgy ankle. Looks like McKay has been selected as insurance.

I agree, although with Tom Mac and Pedersen down there, both who are capable of clunking marks and kicking goals, it gives us more options than normal.  Their back line outside of Casboult is not particularly tall or strong so we can leave them both down there.

The big test will be making sure we get it down there often enough.  It's nice to see us playing a little taller now as we've missed it!

We do that anyway at least we have a target who can mark the ball now

To make out at the highest level? I'm sure with his good looks that the ladies provide him with plenty of opportunities to prove that.

There's some serious firepower in that starting Carlton midfield, going to need to load up on mids-

STRETCH, TRENGOVE, KENT, JKH

I agree 100% with this. we will need the rotations through the midfield to keep the pressure on the Carlton midfield. One of Smith or Wagner may be included to slot into the back 6 to release Lewis or Vince for a rotation into the midfield.

B: Michael Hibberd, Oscar McDonald, Neville Jetta

HB: Jordan Lewis, Sam Frost, Bernie Vince

C: Jayden Hunt, Christian Petracca, Mitch Hannan

HF: James Harmes, Cam Pedersen, Alex Neal-Bullen

F: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, Tom McDonald

Foll: Max Gawn, Clayton Oliver, Jake Melksham

I/C (from): Billy Stretch, Jack Trengove, Dean Kent, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Josh Wagner, Sam Weideman, Joel Smith

Looking at this team we have a good settled defence that has performed well over the season except last week when the midfield went missing and, with the addition of Hogan and Garlett, the forwards look well balanced and potent. good flexibility in the forward group with TMac and Pedo both able to relieve in the ruck or go back to bolster the defence.

Midfield, with the IC above, will have the option of 14 players that could get a run in the midfield during the game. this does not include throwing a big body in there every now and then such as Tmac or Hogan.

Personally I love it when I see Hogan lining up at a center bounce.

I'm betting he is going to have a special game. Come on Dees!

He doesn't deserve a game for being a "servant" of the club but to do with his consistent form in the VFL.

Injuries have opened a spot for him and I hope he gets one and takes full advantage of it.

Stretch! He is an average player on his good days TPF 39.

With two forwards in, find it hard to see how Kent would also be included. The forward line isn't where we're missing players.

Much as I'd like to see it, I don't think Trengove will get up.

Stretch was down last week, but he wasn't alone. It could be tired legs thing as much as form, think he'll keep his place.

Wagner was poo last week, but has demonstrated AFL capability before. Happy to persevere - I think he and Smith are probably competing for a place on the HBF, with Hunt replacing White on the other.

With Viney and Tyson out, we're short competent mids - Harmes, ANB and Kent (in that order) are going to have to spend time in there. Lewis and Vince really have to step up. Oliver needs to be able to spend 80%+ time on the ground as our contested ball battery is significantly weakened. If he has a poor game we lose I think.

Our firepower forward looks heaps more potent with Hogan and Garlett back. TMac is in form and should stay there, playing deep in my opinion. He has marking power and has developed a reliable set shot - I'm hoping he's good for another 2-3 goals but at the very least, should force defenders away from Hogan.   Pedersen to play the more mobile tall role Watts would normally play - he played one quarter of good football in this role against WC but has been down either side of that. Need more from him.

Just excited to see Jesse back.

If he gets a game it is Champagne or river water on Sunday night. Anything less than a good game and his career is over.

I think we can now say it is all over for Kennedy. If you cannot get a game after good form at Casey and our injury list then you won't ever. He is the Grimes of 2017.

Wagner seems to be highly valued by the coaching staff so reckon he stays in. Would love the others to be Stretch, Trengove and J Smith.

Our forward line is much too much for their depleted defenders but they will keep a spare man back - they have done it all year against every opposition.

Their forwards are their problem while our defenders are the best part of our team.

So, it will once again be lost or won in the midfield. Vince, Lewis and (hopefully) Trengove will be of huge value to help out Oliver and Petracca against Cripps, Gibbs etc...

I think around the ground we have a clear edge but the blues have a clear edge in the middle. We have a lot of options though so it'll be an interesting battle. If we break even we win

Most of the guys were crap last week just winning four in a row is tough without coming up against the in form Swans. I think one of ins will be a like for like, given Tyson's not quick it could well be JackT. ANB goes straight to Doherty that's a given. Wagner stays. Bernie into the midfield, worries me I think he's carrying an injury.

I/c Trenners , Wagner, JKH, Stretch

Kennedy's disposal is either not damaging enough or he turns it over. Very difficult to fix. The rest of his game is fine you would think...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
