Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah I reckon that's the conversation he'll be having now.

Despite what I said before about him getting what he deserved I must concede his behaviour since the incident has been exemplary- he's not tried to hide, has admitted his mistake, accepted the penalty, is seeking help with his anger issues and has voluntarily stepped down, saving the AFL a lot of embarrassment. I hope is left alone nw to move on with his life.

As usual, the AFL will front the press after the mess had been taken care of by others to save their face.

I think a lot of the commentary about the appropriate penalty has been fuelled by a lack of trust in the AFL to do the right thing. Hey are an amoral, spineless organisation.

My goodness it's been an ordinary week for the Brand we know as AFL. I'm wondering if they might consider bringing back the reserves and having six games on a Saturday afternoon. Now there's a thought.....

Agreed.  The man has accepted he's done the wrong thing and acted accordingly.  Let him move on.

His actions after the incident is what has annoyed me the most... He is an known thug/sniper in the league and comes out with crocodile tears when he is caught on camera (believe he was giving the finger to the opposition supporters at the game)

To claim we all make mistakes but  he has owned his actions he has owned the fact he has been caught.

Even his standing down seems suss. The language used in his statement is 'im standing down and in that time I'll seek treatment for angry issues.'

so he hasn't resigned and the AFL haven't done anything. He has stood down from the diversity role but when the Incident has blown over he will start working in a new role/title probably one that doesn't have a public image.

Amazing isn't it, the AFL do the right thing, they gather information and wait for due process to take place. That happens in about 48 hours after the matter becomes publicly known. Farhour appears at the NFL Tribunal, the matter is heard. He is suspended for life and decides to stand down from his AFL position.

The AFL will now make a considered statement, being in possession of all the facts, rather than just operating on media reports.

But no, the AFL are unprincipled &@?$'s, according to the narrative amongst a number of posters here on DL. Obviously what we really need, is to have someone heading the AFL who tweets the first thing that comes to his/her head at the earliest opportunity. Let's have a lynch mob mentality, that's what is missing!

It's too late to lynch him now.

People would find out and someone would complain.

He has 'stepped down'.  He has not resigned.  His actual resignation will be the indicator of his integrity and genuineness.

For all we know he may still be being paid eg sick leave, compassionate leave, annual leave.  The AFL precedent of paying an employee while suspended was set with James Hird.

It looks like a smokescreen and when the dust settles then it is business as usual and he will be back in the industry.

Sure we can, this doesn't involve Melbourne so who cares. Bad people do bad things, and the world keeps spinning.

I think we can all agree that we don't need people like this in our game, and I'm sure we are all hoping for the same outcome here - to never hear his name in footy again

I suspect he's gone also. The AFL has invested way too much in the last 20 years to make this a family friendly game to not respond to this incident accordingly.

Reports coming out that he is being investigated by police.

Who knows how this will play out, but will hopefully clean up all levels of the game.

For accuracy - only being investigated, not charged at this stage.

Stepping down while I get help is not a resignation. Not close.

I have been locked away all morning and expected to read a statement from the AFL by now.

I think they may be finding it difficult getting his resignation.

afl statement (Gil) scheduled at noon today

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
